Hi Robert, this is according to MaG's walkthrough:

Quote:
Inventory is shown at middle of the bottom bar. Items can be combined by selecting an item, take out of the inventory bar and clicking it on another item in the inventory bar or on another item on the game screen.

Best to examine the suitcase first.
Then take the cable from inventory (if it is there) and then click it on the suitcase in the rubble.

Hi Robert, if the batteries are no longer in your inventory after having combined them with the keyboard, then I imagine you can assume that you did this correctly. wave

Robert,

Marian posted how to combine items: Items can be combined by selecting an item, take out of the inventory bar and clicking it on another item in the inventory bar

So try this:
- Click-hold batteries in inventory.
- While holding move batteries out of inventory.
- Then go back in inventory bar.
- Click batteries on the keyboard.

According to MaG's walkthrough:

Quote:
Star - shows the different points in the game. This is the autosave and load feature of the game.

Click on a picture and load that scene. The game autosaves at certain points in the game.

Can you click on the Star and find a scene that represents an area close to where you were in the game before, and load that scene?

I don't think the autosaved feature can be turned off. If I recall correctly, it autosaves at start of chapters. It is a feature that will help you if you forget or need to replay.
If you really want to remove them:
- check if there is a "delete" feature on that saved game.
- manually delete the file in the saved game folder. I cannot remember where the folder is located at the moment.

Sorry, robert - I think I may have been confused about where you were exactly in the game. Let me take a look at the walkthrough again and see if I can get some info for you.

Did you try using the fountain pen on the back of the painting that is covering the safe?

If I remember correctly - you click on that painting left of the bathroom door and see a safe.
You cannot open it until you get a key.

To get the key: you have to get an envelope from the desk clerk.
To get the envelope: you have to give him 2 code words.
To get the 2 code words:
- you have to work to get steam and read a word on the bathroom mirror.
- you have to use a cutout paper on Eiffel tower.
Then you get the envelope and get some words that you need to know the meaning of.
- you do this by calling Henry.
- Henry gives info that you can use to deduce the location of a hiding place.
- the hiding place has the key that opens the safe.

If you saw the word alchemy in the bathroom after turning on the hot water tap, then you have found the first word.

To get the second word:

Quote:
Use the sharpened letter opener on all the paintings.

Original sketch by Gustave Doré for Divine Comedy: Open the cover of the safe again.

Use the sharpened letter opener on the back of Doré's sketch.

Get an Eiffel card with cutout. It triggers a memory.

Exit to the balcony.

Click the card with cutout on the view of the Eiffel Tower. See the second word - REVOLUTION.

Exit back to the room by moving the cursor to bottom of screen and get an exit arrow.

This is how you find the second word, which is revolution.

Hi robert, you need a key in order to open the safe. I'll re-post MaG's instructions here:

Quote:
To get the key: you have to get an envelope from the desk clerk.
To get the envelope: you have to give him 2 code words.
To get the 2 code words:
- you have to work to get steam and read a word on the bathroom mirror. (The word you see is alchemy, which is the first code word).
- you have to use a cutout paper on Eiffel tower. (The word you see is revolution, which is the second code word).
Then you get the envelope and get some words that you need to know the meaning of.
- you do this by calling Henry.
- Henry gives info that you can use to deduce the location of a hiding place.
- the hiding place has the key that opens the safe.

This game seems quite tricky. Make sure that you have done all of the above. If you find the hiding place, you will get the key that opens the safe.

After getting the word ALCHEMY from the bathroom, go back out of the bathroom.
Look for the sketch by Gustave Doré for Divine Comedy on the wall.
Click on it to see the back.
Use the sharpened letter opener on the back of Doré's sketch.
Get an Eiffel card with cutout. It should trigger a memory.

Then exit to the balcony.
Click the card with cutout on the view of the Eiffel Tower. See the second word - REVOLUTION.

Hi robert, that is a very straightforward question. The walkthrough simply says to open the diary. Did you open other items in the game by right-clicking? If so, one would think the diary would work the same way. Let's wait for advice from someone who has played this game. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to your question.

When you clicked on it - did you get a memory again?

After you open the cross' secret drawer you just pick up the diary and automatically read it to get a memory.

Be sure that you examined that door and see the decorations on it.
Use the razor on far view not close up - see if that works for you.

Hi robert, apparently it is normal that the katana is crossed out in your inventory, so no worries there. I looked at a couple of walkthroughs and one of them said that you won’t need to put the katana back; it will just be crossed out in your inventory.

Are you still stuck at the meditation door?

After you saw the decorations on the door, did you step back first and then try to use the razor on the door?

Unfortunately I don't know - because I don't have a screenshot of what exactly the decorations look like.

I found a pictorial walkthrough for the game here, which might be of help to you. The link will take you to the page of the game where you are, I believe. Maybe it will be of some help. It says that you use the razor to unscrew the monster faces from the door.

First, make sure you have inspected the dragon head on the right and then take the katana. Then use the katana on the window on the left and open the window. After doing that, you should be able to see the shadow of one of the Master's hands on the wall. Add the number of fingers that you can see on the shadow to your own entry and then give the total number. So, for example, if John is holding up one finger and the Master is holding up one finger, the answer would be two.

hi Marian, i am enjoying playing Yesterday game and in general, Magtro's walkthroughs are more than excellent and well put together although somewhat misleading. it seems there is a ton of walkthroughs out there but is Mag's the best for Yesterday? i rely on a W/T so could you recommend one to follow from the blind master to the end please? SORRY, MAG, i am not criticizing your good work! robert.

I'm glad you are enjoying the game, Robert. thumbsup

Here is another Yesterday walkthrough for you to look at, if you wish:

There's nothing wrong with referring to more than one source; I do it myself at times. smile

I can't be sure, but that walkthrough I linked you to says that using the razor, you unscrew the monster faces on the meditation door. So, if you aren't seeing anything like that on the door, I would think that you are probably not in the right place. Also try looking over this page again; I believe that these pictures reflect approximately where you are in the game.

The meditation door is the door of the room where the blind master is located.

Robert,

I don't know about a video right now.
Try this; as stated above - in far view use the razor on that door.
See what items you get in inventory.
Then continue with the walkthrough.

Here's a 30-minute video that includes your playing the number games with the Master; maybe this will help, too:

Looking at the walkthrough for that section of the game, I think you will be fine. It looks like you are making good progress. As long as you have a katana in your inventory (and you already do), you should be all set. smile
