Hi Everyone, I am at the house of the kidnappers and everytime I try to use the hat pin to get the key, I crash to desktop. As soon as I try "use" it happens. I've tried it over and over again. Does anyone have a saved game just passed this part? I don't hold much hope but I don't know what else to try. Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks. Luv, Joanie

I had the exact same problem. I am trying to remember what I had to do to get the game to play. Try lowering your CD acceleration and your graphics acceleration. Also try stopping your CD read ahead. I fiddled with these settings and got it past this part. I'll try to see if I can find my notes about what I used specifically. You can get past this part. My saved game is past this part though. I played it on W98SE, what system OS are you using? Laura

Hi Laura, Again thank you so much. I am happy to say that after 3 days of trying to use the hat pin, I was finally able to do it. I don't know why but this happened before at another spot when "use" was needed. The same thing happened then too. I really appreciate all of your effort on my behalf. Luv, Joanie

Please can someone help me! I am almost at the end of the game in the manager's office. I tried to break the glass of the fish tank. When I select shoot it goes black and I'm back at the desktop. I have been doing this over and over with the same results. Does anyone have a saved game to get me past shooting the tank? I really want to finish this game. Please! I will be so very grateful for any help. Thanks. Luv, Joanie

Did you shoot the aquarium with the pistol or the gun? In my walkthrough I made notes to shoot with the "pistol" NOT the "gun"! I probably had the same problem. Hope this helps.

Hi Chounette, I can't thank you enough for your help. In my case, I was shooting with the pistol and when I shot with the gun, it worked!!! Next problem! When I select unlock on the secured drawer, I am again sent back to desktop. Did you have a problem here too? Any ideas? Thanks again for your help, it is much appreciated. Luv, Joanie

You're very welcome Joanie! Glad I could help Sorry, I have no special notes for unlocking the drawer. Just "Unlock the secured drawer with the trident". Anne

Hi joanie I'm going to post how I got your save to work just in case later on someone has the same problem and does a search. First off I loaded in the save game - clicked on the trident and yep got the black screen and then back to desktop. That rang a bell - how fast of a machine are you playing the game on? I solved the problem by setting Turbo (the slowdown utility I use) to 40% - voila - no crash the next time I tried it. Old Sherlock opened that drawer just as nice as you please At any rate I have your save and am sending it back. But try slowing down your computer first and see if that helps at all.
Dark Side : Risen Light Side: I can only please one person a day. Today isn't your day. Tomorrow's not looking good either.
