What is that website that you can go on to check if your computer will play a specific game?

Thanks.

There may be other websites that serve the same purpose, but I am familiar with this one.

Thanks Marian and Rushes. Not sure if this is the site that was posted here once before or not. Have to install Java and agree to something (of course I didn't write it down and don't remember what it said)to allow it to access all your computer and personal info. Don't remember having to do that before.

It is some Active X Java component that claims to be easily uninstalled after use but doesn't say how to uninstall.

Probably in Control Panel under Programs in Windows 7/8 (or under Add/Remove Programs in XP).

Or use the "View Requirements" radio button at the bottom of the http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri page and don't bother with their scanning option at all.

Or instead of using a site that wants to scan your computer, you could just look up the specs for the game at some site like
http://www.game-debate.com/

Or do a Google search -
"whatever-the-game-is" requirements site:game-debate.com

for example, google for -
sherlock crimes requirements site:steampowered.com

It's not like a site that scans your computer would have any better info than a site that just tells you the game specs.

If you don't know your computer specs, you can use speccy
http://www.piriform.com/speccy

or the Belarc Advisor
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Argh. I was typing away and hit some wrong key that took me right out of IE.

Thank you Jenny100 for that info and all those links. I had compared specs buy my computer was inbetween the minimum and recommended and I was just curious and remembered seeing a link in here once before that I used but don't remember having to install Java or any extras to use it. It could be that I had that stuff already installed at the time but had disabled it due to the problems that Java was having.

Under the Start menu there is a "configure Java". Is it just a matter of unchecking the box that says "enable Java content in the browser"?

That would not uninstall it, and it would disable all Java which could affect whether you could access other websites.

See if one of the suggestions at ***eHow*** works.

Jenny, I found it in my installed programs. It is called System Requirements Lab CYRI, publisher is Husdawg LLC.

Thank you!
