Hi Folks,
Did you know that Toonstruck, which many of us played, was only about half the game that was initially planned to be released. Being rushed and for whatever other pressures being applied on the developers, they cut out, supposedly enough material to do a sequel and had planned on doing just that. However, the poor marketing of Toonstruck like so many other adventure games in the latter 90s (96 - 99) resulted in poor sales, thus no sequel. There is a former member of the Burst and/or Virgin Interactive development team, Keith Arem, that apparently owns the rights to all that would have become Toonstruck 2 (in some emails and/or posts it seems to be implied that he also has the rights to all of Toonstruck). He suggested in either an email or a post that if there was enough fan support he would update all of it and release it. This is his quote:
"Now that my career has developed, I would like to re-release an updated version of Toonstruck to include the 2nd half of the game (iPad, online, etc), but I would need tremendous fan support to justify its release."
Thus, some fans started a petition which now has 3,373 signatures (mine was added yesterday). If GameBoomers have not been aware of this then we could come close to doubling that figure!
