Hi Rowan. I just went to the link and wandered around the pages for awhile and it looks like a dvd boxed version is available, just not in the states yet. I don't know if you'd want to buy one from say England, but if you click on Shop then the option to buy the boxed one is right next to the download one. smile

Thanks for posting that btw---the game looks beautiful! (although I might have to wait awhile to get it since it's like $50.00) wink

Thanks Rowan, I take it you are a fan of the books?

The books and the TV series for me! I've really been looking forward to this game. There was one released a few years ago and I've heard it was a real stinker.

I don't worry about the people but did quit reading it the first time after Lady was killed (the wolf) puppy

The game is also available from Steam. This is the new game which is an RPG. The older game which was not very popular is a strategy game.

I purchased this game from Steam when they had their sale. They also offered a game guide which I didn't buy. Is this a real paper book guide or is this an online guide? I prefer the real book versions. Just thought I'd ask before I give out more money.

I just took a look at the listing, Rowan, and it sounds like it's online; they call it a "developer-approved, web access strategy guide." So, it's not a physical copy of the guide. wave

That's what I thought, Marian. Thanks. If it's online I may as well wait until some walkthroughs are done.

Rowan while looking to see if I wanted to purchase this game I found this Video Walkrhrough that might be of some help.

Still haven't decided if I want the game or not but it looks pretty good. I'd be interested to see you take on it when you get in to it.

Oldman, I am now in chapter 4 but I don't know how many chapters in all. The game is quite different from any other game. I am playing on easy level. You play two different characters from two different story lines. The two stories are supposed to merge at some point in the future so I can't tell yet how that will work with you being two characters. Each chapter alternates with the characters. There are a lot of conversations and each of them is a cut scene so you do not have much control during these sequences except for the occasional question you can answer. The fighting is different, too, and I still have to get used to it. Perhaps it is closest to the Witcher fighting but it has been quite a while since I played that. It takes some time to get used to all the controls and since I don't have a paper manual or starting guide I find it difficult to remember all the various keyboard assignments. There is a tutorial in the logbook but you still have to memorize it all and if you don't use all the functions all the time that can be difficult. One very interesting and novel gimmick is that one of the charcters has a shapeshifting ability. That means he can turn into dog (or warg) form and follow scents which lead to the completion of some quests. Once the dog reaches what must be found he barks and you can return as the human and complete the quest. So far I'm liking it in spite of some of the difficulties. Of course, I love the theme song throughout the game.

Thanks for the comments, Rowan. I've been a huge fan of the books since the first one came out about 15 years ago, but I don't know whether I should get this game, especially after my recent spending spree on Steam. Still, I am curious, and the game looks interesting enough. I might grab it once it comes out on disk and when more players have reviewed it. I rush out too quickly a lot of the time.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I'm well into the game now and am used to all the controls. If you know the books and the movies then you will love this game. The main characters are unique to this game but the backdrop are the events from the first book. However, your charcters' stories are not in the books but they could easily be other chapters that were never included. It is fun recognizing events and people. The story grabs you. I can foresee many sequels and addons to this game.

Thanks for the info Rowan. I've been deeply involved with the 2 Witchers with enhancements to look any further. Thanks to your recommendations I have this game on my "to get" list but other games keep grabbing my attention. Now the DLC for Skyrim just became available for PC which will put Game of Thrones even further on the back burner.

I'll keep checking and maybe there will be a sale on the game.
