That is the greatest fallacy, the wisdom of old men. They do not grow wise. They grow careful. Ernest Hemingway (1899 - 1961), A Farewell to Arms, 1929 ~~~~~~~~~~~ A blonde suspected that her boyfriend was cheating on her, so she bought a gun. She went to his apartment that same day, with the pistol in hand. Sure enough, when she opened the door, she found her boyfriend in the arms of a redhead. Overcome with grief, she put the gun to the side of her head. Her boyfriend screamed, “Honey, don’t do it...” The blonde yelled back, “Shut up! You’re next!” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Three men are involved in a car crash on December 24th and arrive at the pearly gates where they are met by Saint Peter who tells them that because it is Christmas eve they must go back to the car and find something related to Christmas and give it to him in order to enter heaven. The first man goes back, looks under the front seat, finds a Christmas card and rushes back to Saint Peter and is promptly let in. The second man looks in the trunk and finds some mistletoe and rushes back to Saint Peter and is also let in. The third man was having no luck finding anything in the car and starts to panic knowing that he will never enter heaven if he doesn't come up with something associated with Christmas. He had about given up when he looks into the glove compartment where he finds a pair of sexy underpants...it is almost midnight, so he figures he has nothing to lose and quickly sprints off. He runs up to golden gates and hands the panties to Saint Peter...the perplexed saint holds them gingerly between finger and thumb and says "what do these have to do with Christmas ?" the man sheepishly says "they're Carols?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~ A seven year old boy goes to the hospital with his grandmother to visit his grandfather. When they arrive there he runs ahead of his granny and bursts into his grandpa's room. "Grandpa, as soon as Grandma comes into the room, make a noise like a frog," he shouted. "What for?" asked his grandpa. "Grandma said that as soon as you croaked, we're going to Disneyland" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's Saturday morning and John's just about to set off on a round of golf when he realizes that he forgot to tell his wife that the guy who fixes the washing machine is coming around at noon. So John heads back to the clubhouse and phones home. "Hello?" says a little girl's voice. "Hi, honey, it's Daddy," says John. "Is Mommy near the phone?" "No, Daddy. She's upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle Fred." After a brief pause, John says, "But you haven't got an Uncle Fred, honey!" "Yes, I do, and he's upstairs in the bedroom with Mommy!" "Okay, then. Here's what I want you do. Put down the phone, run upstairs and knock on the bedroom door and shout in to Mommy and Uncle Fred that my car's just pulled up outside the house." "Okay, Daddy!" A few minutes later, the little girl comes back to the phone. "Well, I did what you said, Daddy." "And what happened?" "Well, Mommy jumped out of bed and ran around screaming, then she tripped over the rug and went out the front window and now she's all dead." "Oh, my God! What about Uncle Fred?" "He jumped out of bed too, and he was all scared, and he jumped out the back window into the swimming pool. But he must have forgot that last week you took out all the water to clean it, so he hit the bottom of the swimming pool and now he's dead too." There is a long pause. "Swimming pool? Sorry wrong number. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jim and Mary were both patients in a Mental Hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sunk to the bottom and stayed there. Mary promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Jim out. When the medical director became aware of Mary's heroic act he immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as he now considered her to be mentally stable. When he went to tell Mary the news he said, "Mary, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged because since you were able to jump in and save the life of another patient, I think you've regained your senses. The bad news is, Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself with his bathrobe belt in the bathroom. I am so sorry, but he's dead." Mary replied "He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good morning everyboomie. Welcome to the weekend part 2. My back is tormenting me today, so I'm just gonna post 8 smileys and say good night. Now get out there and have a superfluous Sunday everybody. Ra Ra joe

Good morning everybody. I had a fitful night, waking up many times. My back is not as bad this morning, but I'll be using an ice pack and brace all day to help it. We're forecasted to hit 105 today, which means we'll probably hit 110 or 112 here. I am so tired of this heat. I'm thinking about moving back to Amarillo when this place is sold. Either there or Oregon. Going where the weather suits my clothes. I left Amarillo way back in 1988. Trippy sorry about your nasty sting. I had a red wasp sting me on my cheek a few weeks back. Ana please send some rain down here ok? joe

Went to bed last night and the bedroom temp was 84. Had the fan blowing cool night air in and the ceiling fan cooling me. Managed to throw off all covers all night (even had a dream about that) and when I got up this morning, the temp in the bedroom was STILL 77! It's gonna be a hot one here again.
Anyone with a little extra cool or rain please donate to the 'Sorta needs cool weather' fund! It actually rained about 5 drops last night. I'm not kidding I counted them on the sidewalk. ONE hit me. Oh joy.
Off to watch some 'live feed' of Big Brother. I've never seen such foul language or seriously in need of mental help, contestants. They sleep all day, don't clean up anything, and threaten bodily harm to each other. What fun. The show had to put a disclaimer message at the beginning to warn people about the 'insensitive language' etc. It's the worst season yet. One poor gal is seriously bulimic and denying it, but you can clearly see her 'activity'. So sad. I'm hoping they get some 'help' for some of this year's group. They really need it. I'd stop watching, except I want to see which horrible contestant wins this one. Yuk.

Super Sunday ya'll Been up for hours, but this is the first time I've been able to sit down with a cup of coffee and go ahhhhh. Dinner is in the crock pot, kitchen is cleaned, dogs are fed, kids are fed, adults are fed. Once this cup is finished, I'll be going up to finish up...need to vacumn dining room and upstairs and make the guest room bed. Daughter is in Tennessee...she might be in AL by now. Should be here before 3. Son will hopefully be home around the same time and we can all sit down and go blaaaaaaaaaaah! I do need to make daughter some GF bread and make dessert for tonight...but I can take some time out before that. Darn, my cup is empty. Back later

How's this for 'psychic vibes'. I put on a new tshirt this morning. Green plain first time on. I thought, "looks like St. Patrick's day".
As I was walking out, I saw my little magnets on the cabinet which say, love, happiness, luck, peace, etc. I move them around sometimes putting the one I figure I 'need' the most on top. Today I thought LUCK.
I walked to the park with friend as usual. Saw a few transients as usual. They are friendly if you are. One was looking down in the grass, running his fingers over something. I stopped and asked, "whatcha looking for?" He replied, "Four leaf clovers, I found a lot of them here." I said, wow". He said, "if I find one, I'll give it to you," and I said, "sure, I'd love one, I'll be walking around and back this way in a few."
Halfway around the 'loop', he came running across the park saying, "Stop right there, don't move, I've got something for you," and sure enough, he handed me a lovely Four Leaf Clover!
On the way home, we ran into (almost literally), the guy we know the most who actually has a part time job somewhere doing welding, but lives in the park most of the time. He asked how it was going and I told him about the 4 leaf clover. He asked if a guy in a hatchback found it, and I said a blue car. He said, "yup, that's George, he's always finding them"
So I figure George the Transient is a Leprechaun and by wearing the green t-shirt he decided I needed some luck. Fun stuff, just thinking about the whole morning of green/luck magnet/4 leaf clover from George. Very strange indeed.
I'm pressing it in paper now to save it. LUCKY ME!

Just checking in.... Was gaming for awhile and decided to take a tiny nap. Fab-U-Lous! So. I decided dinner today will be my shrimp/kalamata olive/tomatoe pasta dish with feta. I always pair this with retsina. Delish! Off to see what's afoot!
Woohoo and booyah! Have an easy peasy day!

Hmmm....looks like I got distracted this morning and didn't submit my post. I took the dogs to the river early and got sidetracked hiking and the next thing I know 2 hours passed. Merlin is limping now and I feel like a bad dog mom. I went in the corner the rest of the afternoon and now I am off for a bike ride before storms roll in again. I will miss my sunset ride again but this time I will at least get a ride in. I hope you all are enjoying this long weekend.
