Curse of Atlantis Thorgal's Quest

I posted the other night but no one has answered me. I need to know where the hotspot is for the locked door to put the triangle in. I got rid of the robot but am wandering around and have not found any area to put this triangle. I am still in the same room so I leave it or what? Help!

Are you kidding me? I am suppose to figure out this Runes game! LOL I found the door.....old age forgets and actually did the triangle puzzle in about 6 tries but baffled by the Runes puzzle. Anybody have any shortcuts?

Doing a search on the Runes puzzle - no comment was made for a short cut.

The object of this puzzle is to discover which five symbols are the correct ones, and in which sequence.

Renee, I wrote down the first ones that I chose and then noted which ones were right and which ones ok, but in the wrong place. The second time I moved the ones that had been placed wrong and added as many new ones as I needed, and wrote that down too.

Some of it is luck, but by writing down each combination you try and using that as a guide for the next attempt, you'll stand a better chance. Also, some games are easier than others, so keep at it and you'll get past this...

Well believe it or not but I got it on my sixth try. The one before I was down to 4 in place and two left and wouldn't you know it but I chose the wrong on. Anyway, the next one I got lucky and had three fixed right away and was able to get the last two before the cycle was up. I am now trying to attempt the Runes and it is so hard! Not even sure what to do!

How it works: the game consists of getting rid of the runes randomly drawn at the start of the game by rebuilding a precise set of runes; it is possible to hinder one\'s opponent by replacing the runes in his game. If Thorgal beats the Angel three times, he obtains the Silver gag. If he is beaten three times, he becomes a prisoner forever in the land of shadows (Game over). Possibility of playing without stakes in order to practice. The time limit corresponds to a limited number of draws.

I also found when I played that if a tile I had didn't match any of the ones in the center, I might as well get rid of it. That allowed me to have more useful tiles...

To the best of my knowledge, the game is randomly generated each time you begin. Thus, there is no quick answer to the solution. Each player must find the logic, and probably needs a little luck too.

Jenny, thanks for the expanded ideas - that should be a big help. Also, I strongly recommend playing the white game for practice, until you understand the strategy. Then it's safer to play the game for real with the black tiles.

Ok everyone, I need some help. I took notes and started playing the Runes puzzle and all I got was one of the white tiles on the center. It seems you can get four different types of the letter R etc.......Anyway, one of them fit but am lost as what to do. I have those four slots in front but I have no idea how to do this or change the tiles or what the heck I am doing. Some little help here about what goes where or what I do. I can't believe I am being so dumb but after placing one white tile, that is it. Nothing else makes sense as far as attack - Place - Discard - or exchange. Just how to I do all these things or in other words, the mechanics of the game. I can probably figure out the rest but what moves what????//

Renee, it's been a while and I didn't keep the game, so I don't have it for reference, but let me see if I can at least clear up some of your confusion. The idea is to put a matching tile right below (or on top of, I can't remember) with the ones in the center. If the other guy plays a tile, you can put one on top of his. Every time you play a tile, you can draw a new one from the pile over to the left (at least that's where I think it is). If you have any tiles that don't have the same markings as the ones in the center, just discard them and get new ones, because you'll never use them.

Does that help any, or are you more confused than ever...

I just got an e-mail from riceburner and she too is going crazy like me. So, what you are saying is to put the white tile on the tile in front of me or in front of the bad guy first? How come my one tile went on the dark ones in the middle or are they just for reference? Maybe Tally HO or someone can give a blow by blow specfic since you have forgotten and I can't understand why since it is so hard even when you are doing it. LOL

As far as I can remember, you put your tiles on the ones in the center. Hopefully someone with a better memory than mine will come along soon...

The best advice comes from the game itself. Click repeatedly on the skull at the left to learn the rules and some of the strategy for the game. There's plenty of detail there. Think of the White game as a tutorial, since the black game is fatal if you lose.

Be sure to figure out how to exchange tiles with your opponent, and with your own stockpile, and also how to re-capture a spot from the opponent.

Jenny, how do you discard tiles in this game? I am at the same place as Renee and practicing with the white tiles. I also don't understand the blank white tiles between me and the center tiles. I can't seem to put any tiles on them or know what they are for. Also if I exchange a tile the second time I get back the tile I exchanged the first time, huh??? At this rate I will never get anywhere. Also I don't understand how to put a tile UNDER my opponent's tile in the center for the 'attack' play. At my age figuring out a logic puzzle is not fun. LOL

Sorry folks, I was thinking of the symbol door puzzle in the spaceship. That one started to repeat after 3 restarts. Duh!

Renee and Kay, I remember there being a very detailed explaination by the being you play against. I don't remember how I got him to explain it but he did. I think it was while I was practicing. Did either of you find this part in the game?

Yes, if you click on the skull he will give instructions but when you try some of those instructions and they don't work then you have a stalemate. Of course the instruction list is extensive and tired minds don't always remember or interpret it properly. Get the picture???

Yes I do! I got bored listening to him. I do remember saving my tiles so that I would have three of one design, to undo anything he reversed. I traded in a lot to get 3 of each before making my moves.

To discard, place a tile on an identical one already in place. Thus, you can't discard unless you have placed the same tile beforehand.

To exchange with your opponent, place your tile over one in his rack.

To exchange for one in your stockpile, place your tile back in the pile.

To re-capture a spot the opponent holds, put one tile in the attack slot (the row nearest you) and another on top of his in the center row.

You won't believe what happened to me. I guess I did have the game figured out after all. I just wasn't getting the tiles to go in the slots. So I lost the first one but won the second one. I wanted to save but the game wouldn't let me and the bad guy said let's play a game for fun. I thought ok.....agrrrrrrrr the darn computer/game froze and now I have to go in and beat him again. Can you believe that happened? I knew something like that was going to happen and it did. That is probably why it wouldn't let me save. I was having a hard time getting the hot spots to put the tiles in. LOL

I seem to have a glitch again. I have won the game twice and the guy won't give me my gag. It keeps going back to playing and explaining the white rune and the black rune. I also lost sound once and that is when I couldn't get the gag. I hope Kay will keep her save because I might need it.

Hi Jenny I know you have to win three times. I not only won three times, I won three times times 5 or 6......I was really having a glitch. I finally resolved it and played the game a lot. Frankly, I liked playing the game. LOL <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />
