Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/17/11 05:29 PM

This game has generated a lot of questions. The previous thread was a little long. I've stickied it so please check that thread before asking for help. It is quite possible that your question has already been asked and answered.

But if you don't find what you are looking for, feel free to ask. We have not as yet found a walkthrough for this version of the game, so you might have to be patient until a vet of the game stops by.

And J&K vets, thanks so much for your invaluable help in getting others through this game. thanks wave

Greetings--I'm still reading the threads from the other Jekyll & Hyde and they are proving to be very useful. BUT-it sure would be helpful if there was a walkthru. I have one gold wing but I cannot find the horse to attach the wing. Need small hint. I am in the room where the skelton is at the table. I picked up the diary and the rope.

Hi looney4labs--I assume that 4labs means you have 4 lab dogs. I have 1 golden lab-Rusty. Now back to the game. After playing the game for 2 hours plus, I realized that I had the wrong skelton and nothing made any sense. I found another tunnel and it contained a skekton crushed by a rock- and I found the temple with the horse and finally the other wing. I placed both wings on the horse which opened a new area of the temple. I'm now working on my jumping as Hyde and have completed 2 of 3 jumps and hopefully a gameboomer will come up with an answer to the 3rd jump.

happydance Tomco...I'm so glad you got it!

Actually, L4L means I'm Looney For Labs, but most people take it the same way you did. Actually, I am just looney for dogs. We have 4...a chocolate lab, a flat coated retriever, a heeler mix, and a husky mix. I would love to have 4 labs though.

What you have to do is click, to make disappear, 2 consecutive box patterns of the same type. Ex: Click the top group of 4 boxes. Then click another group of 4 boxes. Keep repeating consecutive clicks of same # groups. I don't remember how many times you have to do this before the fires from the skulls begin.
(thanks to Gamil for this solution)
The Skulls:
Be Hyde, approach from the front so the camera changes to a closer view. Aim for the 2nd column, when the flames are about to go out, press 1,2,3, climb up the second column, climb left onto the sticking out rock, then jump left onto the stairs.

Thanks Robbo for all the help. wave

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/18/11 08:13 PM

Robbo, I am in front of the console, on the wall in front the skulls - or whatever they are - are spitting fire, I kept pressing groups of same # of squares but nothing happens except the fire-spitting skulls move inward and outward. More to the point, there is no way I can play as Hyde in this room to try and climb over to the stairs. What am I missing? Thanks for yor help!

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/18/11 09:23 PM

giogio, I'm in the process of doing a walkthrough for the game (at least up to the point where I get stuck) and have just had a go at that puzzle. Fraid I can't work it out either, I'll have another go and report back if I find the secret.

Later... Well, I had a go at it and managed to do it by accident! Although I did break off and have Jekyll go snoop around near the fire jets and got him to try and climb up the left side. Maybe that triggered something because as soon as I click the top left block on the puzzle, it solved. Weird!

I have a walkthrough ready for Jekyll and Hyde 2010. Can you tell me how to post it on here please? There are 2 images to include as well.

BTW, it only goes so far, I can't finish the later part of the game and failing anyone sending saved games, that bit is missing I'm afraid.

robbo,

I can format it and titled it as a partial walkthrough.
Send it to me in Word doc with the pictures separate. My address is in my profile.
Please note where the pictures are to be inserted in the walkthrough.

Thanks.

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/21/11 08:09 PM

Tomco, once over the chasm go right and climb up, can't remember the exact direction after that but its upscreen and a bit more climbing to do.

Just had another look at that area > once you get to the other side, climb up onto a flat area, go upscreen for a bit, and at the upper right corner you'll see some stone slabs that look like steps. The exit is up there.

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/26/11 02:55 AM

Howdy to all,

I am on page 4 of robbo's Jekyll and Hyde WT. I have done most of the jumps to get to the bridge as Hyde. I am at the jump where there is a large bolder covered with vines and more rock in the corner along with a fern. Where am I supposed to jump to get to the next level? More importantly, am I supposed to use the bolder or rocks to help me get to the top?

Thanks,

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/27/11 04:05 AM

Thanks all,

I finally got it. Once I was lost and then found and now I am lost again. I'm still playing Jekyll & Hyde. How do I use the spear to get Horn 2? I survived the swinging axes got to the statue, put on one horn and realized I didn't have the second horn. Jekyll keeps saying, "The idea is good, somehow I must figure out a way to use the spear." I, too am in the same predicament.

Robbo, thanks for all your work in doing this. The game is fun again.

Maverick

One more question about the 1st maze. Am I supposed to find something along the way or when I get to the end? Is there a purpose for this maze?

Thanks again,

Maverick
Posted By: robbo

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/27/11 08:54 AM

Assuming you have the spear:
Go back into the mines. Go along the top tunnel and follow the tracks.
Go down the small tunnel to right of tables.
See a stalagmite at the end (this depends on you reading the page near where you found the spear, otherwise J doesn't know about the stalagmite), hit it with the hammer = (encrusted) KEY.
Combine bottle with bowl and key to get CLEAN KEY.
Use key to open the grille, take the left tunnel and get STRAW, POT and WOOD.
Put the wood and straw in the fireplace, light the fire, add pot and tar and use spear on the pot,to get STICKY SPEAR.
Go back to the 'golden glow grille' in the complex, use spear to get HORN 2.

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/27/11 04:46 PM

Thank you! You are the best~ I have been standing in from of the grill trying to combine items. I should have realized that the fireplace was highlighted for a reason. Clever game creaters - clever you for figuring it out.

Are there any actual directions for Maze 1? I have survived the blades twice, gone up and down stairs and am getting absolutely no where at all. Robbo you certainly have helped with your WT, but I am having a lot of trouble with this game. Any and all help appreciated.

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/29/11 11:19 AM

Just saw your post, maverick. I'll go back to the game, see if I can map the maze.
Hang on!

OK, here you go. A screenshot of Maze 1:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/52375828@N02/5397381107/in/set-72157625930088076/

Hope the link works - it looks terribly complicated!. And I think you'll have to highlight and paste it into your web browser.

One solution for the switches is 2, 4, 2, 5, 1 and 6.
Directions are Forward, Right, Left, L, F, R, L, R, R, L, R, through the cage, R, R, L, L, then to the target room. (check this on the map)
If you print the map out, you can have it by your side to refer to.

Heres the switches for mazes 2 & 3:
(not absolutely positive about the maze 2 switches as I would have to play all the way through maze 1 just to get to the 'untouched' maze 2, but assuming all these are closed at the outset):
switches 5 3 6 7 1 4

Fairly sure about maze 3:
6 4 5 3 7 2 8

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 01/29/11 03:13 PM

If anyone has problems with the Constellations Puzzles, hopefully they can see this solution.

Just to recap from the WT: see the notches on the drums. Each has to match the position 'heightwise' of the corresponding main stars on the diagram on the wall.

Number 1 is THE TWINS:
Letter the drums A, B, C & D.
Click on the 'D' up-arrow so the notch on D is at the top.
Click on the 'C' down-arrow so it's notch is at the bottom.
Click on the 'B' up-arrow twice.
Click on the 'A' down-arrow twice.

Number 2: LEO
Click the down arrows so that all the notches are in a line at the bottom.
Now click 'B' up twice, then 'D' down once, B up 1, B down 1, B up 1, B down 1.

Number 3: SAGITTARIUS:
Start with all notches down.
C up 2, C down 1, then repeat: D up 1 and C down 1 until solved.

Number 4: HERCULES:
Start all down.
A up 1, B down 1, A up 1, B down 1, C up 1, A up 1, A down 1.

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 02/01/11 03:35 AM

Here I am again. I have read all the threads in the first Jekyll & Hyde and have memorized robbo's WT on how to destroy the 5 machines, but is there some timing trick to this? I am afraid I am going to break my keyboard as I have been pounding on it for 3 days. I have only been successful in destroying 1 machine and I can't keep quitting and losing my place. Can someone send a save for this portion?

One grateful Maverick

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 02/01/11 11:21 AM

Hi maverick. Maybe I made the process look too complicated, and it isn't really.
I'll send you a save (there's actually 3 files).
I missed out a 'SAVE' in the WT, the one I can send fits in just after the words "Next, he is back in the mines and wants to explore the tunnels." in the WT.

If you want to have another go at beating the machines, I just did it and will explain which keys to press to do it:
Crouch down - using Ctrl - behind the tower and use the direction keys to adjust his position so the machine grabs the top of the tower. Next, press '1' to give him strength, and still holding the Ctrl key down, move him out to left or right, whichever way he's facing. Now let go of the Ctrl key to make him stand up. Turn him around so he is stood near the machine. You should see the 'hand' icon. Now just press Enter once and he will destroy the machine. Well, you've done it once so you've seen what happens.

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 02/02/11 03:01 AM

Well, I am in the cart going for a nice ride and when the hand appears, I hit enter and continue on. When I see the down arrow and use my keyboard accordingly, nothing happens. Whe it repeats, sometimes there is a down arrow and sometimes there isn't. Do I have a glitch and should I reload the Jekcyll and Hyde program?

I'm sorry to keep asking for help. Thanks, robbo, the save worked beautifully and your instructions were perfect.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 02/02/11 01:55 PM

Well, its a mystery, I get the same problem, but I don't even get the down arrow icon, I just get the hand icon again and nothing happens. I tried reinstalling the game twice and playing it through from the start to the wagon ride part but it made no difference. I can only think saved games are getting corrupted or something, I'm baffled!
I'm sending you another save game, this time for the next bit after the ride. Well, you won't miss much, its just more of the same key-pressing, and you won't miss any other gameplay at all.

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 02/03/11 12:44 PM

maverick, if you read this (I'll email you anyway):
Try the wagon ride again. I just did, and realised that the keys don't seem to be registering in time for the action on screen. When you see the icon, try tapping the key lightly several times to make it regsiter. I just got through the sequence (3rd try, don't tell!) but it worked.
There are 3 'hand' actions to start with, then 3 'duck' actions, then 1 of each, and can't remember after that!

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 06/16/13 05:15 PM

Hi,

I'm afraid there is some bug preventing me from entering the mine tunnel using the wagon in chapter 3.

After I have successfully moved to the tunnel entry and stand by the empty wagon I can see both "Magnifying Class" and "Hand" icons.

When I click the "Magnifying Class" icon the game instructs me to attach the light to the wagon. After having done so the game says I'm ready to enter the tunnel as I have both light and crowbar with.

When I click the "Hand" icon (or hit key E) by the Wagon, nothing happens. Jekyll "freezes" and can't be moved until I visit the Inventory and exit it. The wagon isn't a hot spot any more and I'm in the dead end.

In the Inventory only the "Magnifying Class" icon has ever been enabled for the crowbar, never the "Hand".

Does any of you have any workaround to offer? Either how it's done "correctly" or a save game after entering the mine tunnel using the wagon.

Thanks in advance,

Timo

Thanks for welcoming me here.

This site has been my number one source of walkthroughs for years.

I have googled and read several walkthroughs for this particular problem including the one on this site.

None of them describes the events in every detail. I assume that after Hyde has fixed the rail and you click the "Hand" icon as Jekyll again, the next sequence shows you and the wagon by the tunnel entrance. If you haven't already attached the light then clicking "Magnifying Glass" icon asks you to do so. Should you then use the crowbar or is clicking "Hand" icon enough? For me there is no option shown in the Inventory to use the crowbar, should there be?

I have tried starting the game from several earlier savepoints but nothing seems to help. I always lack means to enter the tunnel with the wagon.

My game version is a download version from Adventure Shop US. There is no patch available there, already checked it.

I hope some of you having played the game through is able to help me with this problem. By offering a save game if there is no other way to pass this problem.

TJL, someone very knowledgeable about these types of issues suggested that you try playing with your video or audio settings turned down a bit to see if that helped.

If that doesn't help, she suggested you keep all your saved games except the last one in a separate folder.

And if neither of those do the trick, I'd be happy to transfer your question to the Glitches forum as that is where the techie folks tend to hang out. You might get your answer more quickly there. wave

Hi Petjo,

sorry to hear you found this game too difficult. I have played around 100 adventure games through and always try to manage without walkthrough but after having stuck for several days I give up and use the walkthrough - usually one or two peeks are enough for one game. Fortunately there are so many games of different levels that each of us find something suitable. Nice to notice there are also other members from this side of Atlantic smile.

Hi,

back in business - the Swiss Alps were worth a trip! smile

I tried suggested workarounds without any success. The tunnel stays locked for me and my mine wagon.

I did some googling with various search terms and finally the game name plus part of the save game file name led me to a german adventure game site "adventurespiele.net" where all the save games for this game were available in one zip file (Click here). Downloading from that site needs registering.

Their walkthrough also tells with highlighted letters that there is a bug in this game preventing entering the tunnel. Their walkthrough stops right before entering the tunnel and continues when Jekyll walks out of that tunnel. I just wonder whether they got their save game files to continue the game from developer or some other player who has successfully played through that part of the game, the story doesn't tell. Maybe this is Windows language dependent bug?

One of you with american (english) Windows could try using the save game files of chapter 3 act 2 to see if it works in such environment letting Jekyll to enter the tunnel.

The readme file in that zip package denies right to share the package outside the community without asked permission. Maybe your admins could cooperate with this matter to get it published by gameboomers as well?

My acute problem seems to be cleared now. Thanks for everyone here for your kind help! smile

Timo, that is quite a saga. I'm glad you got it going. You'll have to let us know if you think it is worth all the effort.

I will get your request to the board owner, but we generally don't host saved games here. wave

No problem, now everyone in need for those three savegame files know where to download them. The only downside is that it needs everyone to register and do the download personally.

But I feel The Adventure Shop (AS) being too soft with this matter. They can't be unaware of this bug. Still there is no patch available. They say the publisher is Lezard Interactive which has also published 44 other game titles AS sells. In case of game launch or in-game problems AS asks to turn to the publisher. But on their publisher support page there is no Lezard Interactive listed! So they just wash their hands of problems of 45 game titles they sell!

All gamers should be aware of this before buying any game from AS. In case of problems other than installation they are left on their own! AS seems not to have any interest of demanding patches for faulty games they keep on selling from their publishers or developers!

While you have AS advertisement (link) on your site, do you have any such relationship with them that could have some influence to correct this matter?

Timo,

The patch should come from the developer who made the game.
Lezard Interactive IS The Adventure Shop. They just publish the games they get.
Just like if Amazon or Steam get games for publications.
Just like we get walkthroughs or reviews here at GameBoomers from writers and use GB as publisher.

So please understand the system or game procedure before you express uneducated opinions.

We here at GameBoomers only have partnership with companies that have proven that they are trustworthy. If we find otherwise; of course that is subject to change.

Re: Jekyll and Hyde help Thread # 2 - 06/29/13 05:17 PM

No need to be upset. English is not my native language and I may well say things unnecessarily straight, I apologize.

I know the role of game developer and publisher well enough.

By my opinion it is primarily the developers responsibility to make a patch and hand it over to the publisher if they find out or hear their game has a bug.

But if the developer doesn't actively do their share to make the game playable again it is very much the responsibility of the publisher to demand it from the developer and make all buyer candidates aware of that problem until it is corrected and they have a patch to offer.

In this particular case the developer Pixelcage GmbH in Germany doesn't seem to exist anymore and this game was left their only title published.

So I find it to be a very good question why The Adventure Shop (Lezard Interactive as you say) still sells this game while they must know that all or at least some gamers are not capable of completing the game as it is sold. They don't mention anything about this proven bug or that there will probably never come any patch for it. That kind of behavior from The Adventure Shop side is not responsible towards their loyal customers.

I have downloaded some 20 games from The Adventure Shop and this one has been the first one with problems. Some of those games have even got patches offered for downloading. So I won't say it's their habit to act like this but this particular game and the way they still sell it doesn't look good or responsible in my eyes. That is just my personal point of view, I can't speak for anyone else.
