The Games Company announced today that will be publishing worldwide Alpha Polaris, the mystery-horror point and click adventure from Finnish Turmoil Games in the first quarter of 2011. In early 2011, gamers will be able to step into the shoes of the Norwegian biologist Rune Knudson to solve the mysteries surrounding the research facility Alpha Polaris, which is located well north of the Arctic Circle. It is here in Greenland, miles from any form of civilization, where Rune will be confronted with his biggest fears in a deadly race against time. Will Rune and his team of researchers make it through this adventure alive? It’s not just the setting that makes Alpha Polaris a great game; the outstanding and unique graphical style with a realistic day and night cycle also really add to the atmosphere. Anyone who enjoys their adventures will be able to really indulge in the classic puzzle elements and frights and thrills this game has to offer. The immersive storyline and extremely detailed characters will also really blow you away. Check the new screenshots in our Gallery

Reminds me a bit of the men in black game at the begining when you explore that research facility in the snow and also reminds me a bit of that film with Kurt Russell The Thing.
Another one to look forward to.

Hi! Thanks for posting this news Carla! I'm one of the developers of Alpha Polaris and for those of you who are interested in knowing more about the game there is a thread for it here. I will do my best to answer any questions you might have. Looks good, Carla, thanks Just hope it's a real adventure and not an action hybrid Alpha Polaris is definitely a real adventure game. We are holding true to the basic elements of a good adventure - vivid characters, interesting story and strong puzzles. All in all we're aiming for a pretty old school approach to adventure games. I hope THEY didn't kill that polar bear. Sorry can't give you any spoilers, but at least I can tell you that the games main character is a biologist who also likes bears. -Veera

I'm afraid there is bad news. The Game Company is no longer able to pay its debts and will soon be declared bankrupt. This because its clients in turn did not have enough money to pay their debts to TGC (millions of euro's, apparently) http://www.mediabiz.de/games/news/tgc-ist-insolvent/292474
I'll be back, one day, when I feel like it.

Hello everyone! I haven't been able to post for a while due to our summer holidays and with everything going on with TGC, but right now I can tell you that Alpha Polaris is going forward as planned. I can't comment much on TGC, but I can assure you that you will be getting good news in the future -Veera

Hello again:) I can now reveal that the people at TGC with whom we worked left TGC and launched their own company called Just-a-game. So we will continue working with the same people and only the company has changed. Just-a-game was launched at Gamescom and you can take a peek at their new site here. Things have been moving along nicely and we will be releasing some new stuff soon. Thanks for your interest in the project! -Veera
