Hello boomers

I just finished Runaway 2 and thought I 'd give you my opinion.I believe it's the best game of 2006 (although I haven't played The Awakened yet)and the funniest in years.Very smart, long funny dialogues and a lot of characters who of course don't lack the vagary of Runaway 1 's characters. The plot starts with Gina and Brian who are now together in Hawai and want to take a trip to Mala islands. That is where the surprises start so I won't reveal anything in case I spoil it for you.
The game has some wonderful graphics. Many locations to explore and the opportunity to enjoy both winter and summer. As for the video-sequences they 're real eye candy.I even replayed some parts of the game to watch the videos again..The plot has many twists and it had me hooked to the end which by the way was a bit of a let-down and a treat together however I 'll let you find out why I 'm saying this.
Runaway 2 is a point-and-click 3rd person-view adventure game like its predecessor. The puzzles in the game are inventory and dialogue based.Only a couple of safe-opening puzzles exist. You mostly gain clues from the characters you interact with and then try to come up with something by combining items in your inventory or the environment surrounding you.I didn't find the game very difficult although sometimes I was stuck because of the pixel-hunting mainly.(but thanks to gameboomers hints thread I could finally move on).One just needs to get into the game and then things run smoothly. However if you didn't like the first one because of its gaming style I wouldn't recommend this one because it has exactly the same style.Although it's ten times better if we refer to graphics, plot, location, characters and humor.
You 'll also meet some characters from Runaway 1.The box contained a manual really well designed and fun to read.I loved the fact that it contained ''instructions'' to people who are novices to the genre.
To sum up, a set of unique characters, incredible visuals and graphics, fun to solve puzzles and most importantly a very hooking and twisty plot make a game worth the waiting of 3 years and definetely worth buying!
That's all for now I hope I shed some light on what's this game about. And sorry if I'm scratching wounds of those that can't get the game yet.No grudge,eh?

P.S. I know that the structure of the text and the line of what I'm writing are a bit messy but I laways had that problem in English.

Have fun,

Smaro

I agree. I am still playing runaway 2, I believe I am close to finishing, though (I am at chapter 6). This game is funny, challenging, with interesting characters and I also enjoy the graphics.
The only complaint I have is that I have encountered a bug that I can't get around and I am unable to continue - when in the treasure room I keep getting a windows freezing and crashing error which shuts down the game. I am hopeful that I will be able to continue and I am really anxious to do so.
Again, I would concur with Smaro that this game is the best of 2006.

Just finished the game as well smile

Must agree with adventurelover on most of the things.
There is one thing, though, that was driving me crazy all through the game: the extreme simpleness (is that a word? smile ) of the puzzles.

<span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text">
Like the time at the begining of the game, where you had to retrive something from a hard - to- reach- place, so all you had to do is click on the item, and Brian just goes "Oh, I can't reach it! I better go and brake of a long stick, and use it to get the thing!"
Did the game developers think the gamers suffer from a complete lack of common sence? Just give me a branch to break with a hotspot on it, and I'll be sure find what to do with it! smile

For another example, I spent 2 hours is search of something to use as a slingshot bullet, checking out every pixel on every screen, when all I had to do, is use the slingshot on the hotspot, and he just bends over and picks up a totally inactive rock from the ground!
That was just frustrating!
</span></span>

Anyway, I just wanted to say, that the puzzles are more suittable for beginning players or the ones, who enjoys thir game flowent, without spending too much time on puzzle solving.

Hope I didn't spoil it to much for you. Have fun playing, for it IS a fun game! smile

Hi adventurelover smile

Well done !! And thanks for giving us a review thumbsup

"that the puzzles are more suittable for beginning players or the ones, who enjoys thir game flowent, without spending too much time on puzzle solving"

That won't bother me one bit, as long as the story is good and the interface friendly. Sometimes I NEED a game where I'm not going insane every time I try to get through a puzzle laugh

Cheers.

The story IS good smile and the interface is very intuitive and clear.
p.s. you might want to see how many references to other games and movies you can spot in the game. I thought it was hilarious! smile

Just got it and haven't installed yet but I, for one, am glad to hear about the puzzles. I simply hate them. smile The games themselves are a puzzle so I could never understand the reasoning behind putting a another puzzle within a puzzle. wink

Hi Gary, so I'm guessing the story is more important to you than the puzzles? wave
