You may be able to update it through the Mac's software update.

When I had OS 10.6.8, Apple kept trying to push OS 10.7 on me through the software update. I don't know if they're still doing that, but running the software update might be one way to see if you can go to a newer Mac version.

You had to do this whole dragging to the Applications and then using this goofy "eject" thing. I'm used to downloading, installing and being done!

Downloading, installing, and being done is pretty much the same as you're doing on a Mac. It just looks a little different. You download and mount the dmg, then drag what it tells you to the Applications folder to install.
The "eject" thing unmounts the dmg -- not that different from closing 7zip when you're done using it.

Draclvr, Not regular upgrades but I meant virus protection. What free anti-virus comes with Win10? Mine came with McAffee, which I hate. wave2

I also loathe McAfee... Windows 10 comes with Windows Defender which is sort of the old Microsoft Security Essentials. It's far from the best on the block, but combined with Malwarebytes Pro and good surfing and computer use, it works very well.

You can get rid of McAfee and use whatever you want. I have had a lot of problems uninstalling it and have had to use the uninstaller on the McAfee website. Then you would just make sure your Windows Defender was enabled.

Jenny, when you explain it, it sounds so logical and simple! All it is, is a different way of doing things, but it still drives me nuts!

Once again, weeds are my life!

You can get the McAfee Removal Tool (the MCPR) from
http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp

You uninstall through Windows, then run the removal tool to get rid of the last bits.

Further instructions ***here***
