I haven't had Steam installed on my machine for a long, long time but when it was, I did buy a few games there.
Including "Skyrim".

So if I re-installed Steam - to get Skyrim into my GOG Library (using the Gog Connect feature) - and then uninstalled Steam again - would I still have access to Skyrim VIA JUST GOG ??

[ Sounds too good to be true, so it probably is wink ]

This only works for "eligible" games. I'm trying to find a list of what games are eligible.

EDIT: This is what is listed on the GOG Connect page... not much! But it does say the list changes..

While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

Thanks very much, Draclvr smile12

So if Skyrim ever does appear on that list, I should be able to play it - using GOG alone.

It just probably never will lol

That's what I understand them to say. If I had to place bets, I'd say it never will appear there either! It sounds like it's dependent on the developers and distributors.

I think the only games you're ever going to see are ones that are already on both GOG and Steam.

Well, at the moment there are a grand total of 5 games listed... none of which I've ever heard of!

I don't think there are only 5 games altogether. I think those are just the new ones that they've added. At least the way I understand it. I have not used this.

You are correct. I have seen quite a few other titles come and go.

oldbroad, those 5 are the only one available at this point in time. As Marian says, they come and go. Witcher 1 was on the list at one point, but is no longer. From what I read, the publishers/developers put them out there for short periods of time and them remove them.

Right. But your prior post sounded like you thought those were the only 5 games (period). To my eyes/ears anyway.

"Well, at the moment there are a grand total of 5 games listed... none of which I've ever heard of!"

I believe once you've connected them that they do stay connected even though they are no longer available to connect.?

That's the way I understand it. For instance even though The Witcher is no longer available, if you connected to it when it was, you will always have it in your GOG library. There is a good FAQ at GOG.

That's my vain (probably VERY vain ) hope for Skyrim laugh

Get it in my GOG library and then be able to play it without having to keep Steam installed snicker

But Skyrim's not even available on GOG is it? Which goes to what Uncle Reg said: "I think the only games you're ever going to see are ones that are already on both GOG and Steam." Which makes sense.

Well I don't see the point of the collaboration then if a game is already available on both Steam and GOG woozy

I think it's mainly so people who already bought the game on Steam don't have to buy it again on GOG.

Exactly. If you already have it on Steam, you don't have to buy it again on GOG.

As far as I know, Skyrim has never legally been available without the use of the Steam Client and it looks like it's going to stay that way.
So my Skyrim disk will just have to keep gathering dust !! thumbsdown

From what I've read, that's correct. You don't need the Steam Client to play, but you DO need it to start the game... so, what's the difference! You still need Steam.
