Finished up Silvergrove and gave the last black stone to the Archmagister. I was told to talk to Yuslan
Sha Rim,
but he was continually busy and fast travel wouldn't work so I used a cheat to break him loose (actually Arantheal, who he was talking to) and we ran off to defend against the invasion. Need to get the gate closed now.

Will I be able to do more side quests still? How long?

I don't recall a point where I couldn't do side quests, but I had none left, I think, before I ventured into the last part of the game. When you set out on the last quest, it sort of has "end game" flashing in neon, anyway.

I better get back to my game! It'll take me a couple of hours to remember what I'm doing -- right in the middle of a huge battle.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I am working on getting the items for the star ship. I have a problem with the crystal in Thalgard. The map marker can't be correct. There is no way to get to it.

Found it by heading north toward the big round light. There is a stairway there. Heading into the workshop to find the cube.

I have the cube and alloys, so will be heading off in the star ship.

You're chugging right along, then. It's a decent game, especially since it was free! You have to love the dedication, making something like that for others to enjoy.

It is a great game and I appreciate their efforts. Nehrim should be available soon at Steam. I am having a good time. I went to the Wellwatch Myrad tower in Goldenforst. and cleared nearly all the area. Just the mine remaining. The level of difficulty is less than the Thalgard area. My Oobaya was pretty helpful except the time he saw a mage and ran! I wish I could locate some higher summons.

Next I will head toward Thalgard and see how far I can get. I probably didn't do enough side quests to get very far on the memory choices. I don't think I will be able to get the one that allows improving enchanted weapons. I wonder if the improvement is that much anyway. I have one of the best two handers in the game and it has stamina drain. I am at level 38.

Yes, I'm looking forward to Nehrim. I had it on a disk a while back, but when we moved it got scratched and I never downloaded it again.

The ability to improve magic weapons is great, I think. I've upgraded all my stuff. But you do find excellent weapons along the way.

I've spent a lot of time trying to get by the mob in Thalgard, but without much success. I've only killed a couple of the guards. I searched everywhere, but couldn't find a place to spam summons without getting caught and killed. I tried the big pillars in front of the building. I get to the top of the stairs and two guards attack, quickly followed by the mob. If I try to run down the stairs, I run into a Steel Warden and there is no way to handle him. Also tried invisibility but there was no place to hide.

Also, I'm running out of soul gems, so I need to go back to Ark.

I just made a dumb mistake. I went to Northwind and was at a camp with three others. I walked down the path and was attacked by two big ice elementals and ran back to the camp. As I was throwing fireballs at the elementals, I must have hit the campers. I was being attacked by some men, who I kept hitting and they kept getting up. Then I realized they must be the campers. After a while there was only one around and he walked back to the camp. I got a message that all witnesses were dead and the bounty was lifted. Next, I was killed by a couple of bears. This time I will be more careful. I didn't realize I could get a bounty and all I saw were the red dots I thought were enemies. Didn't notice there were no health bars until it was too late. Glad I get a do-over.

I think that's the camp you can fast-travel to, so It's handy because there's a merchant there.

Because my character is a cowardly archer I do sometimes draw enemy monsters close to villages and other populated sites and watch other people take the pounding I was meant to take. I rationalize that since I have to save the world, I better stay alive. grin

I am still at the Northwind camp and realized that the Colossus was very close, so I checked him out. The wisps made it tough but I found a way over the cliff rocks that held Colossus in a very small area and I was able to throw level 3 fireballs at will. I had to do it twice because his body disappeared the first time. I got the Deathstorm sword.

I was having a problem with health. I ate food before the fight to bring it up to full, but nothing happened. So I tried eating in the midst and still nothing. So I'm confused. When I got back to camp and ate roast pork as I did before, the health bar filled up. I've seen this happen a few times lately. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

All three at the camp had supplies. Lots of food, so I loaded up. I'm at level 40 now.

I think I'm on the homestretch now. Just returned from Star City with the map and talked to Arantheal. I wasted a lot of time on weird happenings, such as the time I couldn't find Jespar on the ship to talk to because he was standing behind a wooden pillar, and then I found myself in a strange place, dark, small flat island and no place to go. I did find him after reloading. Then I couldn't run when my armor was off and I finally figured out that my backpack was also missing.

The boss is dead. I thought I had a big problem as both generators had 0% showing as I hit them. They burst into flames anyway, so I finished the quest. That was a hard one. I died so many times! Heading back to the Sun Temple to finish the game.

You're ahead of me now! I tried to play the other day and my old Alienware seems to have given up the ghost. cry My other computer won't run it. I'll have to see if it can be resurrected but if not it may be time for a new gaming laptop.

How did you kill the boss? I had an awful time, being an archer, and that was why I stalled at that point.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I watched a video of an archer in that fight. He seemed to be doing okay but I wouldn't like to try it. Too many enemies attacking at once. I used my greatsword and it worked pretty well. I seemed to have problems with successive releases of enemies without hearing Calia say to attack the generators. Once I attacked with a sword near a container with an enemy exiting and ended up inside and couldn't get out when Calia said the shields were down.

Have you tried using fireballs or other magic? I don't know if summons can be used, but that would help.

That golden enemy was really annoying . He exploded, killing me four times in a row. I learned to keep running. Once I got used to all the chaos going on, I saved every time I had gained a bit and it didn't take that long. Save a lot, but be careful of saving in a bad situation. Keep a hard save at the beginning of the fight so you don't get in trouble.

Hope you get it running. Have you tried turning down some settings? I haven't had a problem except in the Powder Desert where my video went very strange at times. I am using an old save to visit a few areas I missed and doing a few quests.

I guess being an archer is great up to the point where you actually have a challenge, and then it's not so great. grin

My computer was running the game perfectly. It's just old, and starting to have problems, not the least of which was a complete freakout a while back in which it inexplicably did a factory reset on bootup without being asked to do so, and in the process I lost some of my game installations like my modded Fallout 4.

Also, its internal Alienware backup system stopped working properly a while back and I'm not even sure what's backed up and what isn't. Not a huge deal, because the only thing that's eve on it is games, but still it's an annoyance.

I'm taking it in next week for a checkup.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, I hope you get your computer fixed and finish the game.

I've been exploring a few areas I haven't visited. The Fortress Rockwatch was pretty tough to get into with the huge magic constructions, wild mages and many other defenders of the fortress. I finally made it inside and found three of the huge characters in one room. I decided it wasn't worth the effort and left.

The quest on the Island of Kor was a good one. I had to swim out there since the Myrad was having fits and not available. I did enjoy that one. I have few places left to visit, but will try to get to the interesting ones. I finished at level 43.

I think I did all of the available quests except for the one given to me by the kid right at the start of the game -- I think you have to find a number of locations and I couldn't be bothered. There was a lot to explore in this game and it's got decent re-playability.

So, what are you playing next?

I'm undecided about what to play next. Considering Mafia 3 since I liked the first two Mafia games. Some other games in my steam list are Dead Island, The Long Dark, Kentucky Route 0 and Inside. I really enjoyed Prey and Enderal. Anything similar to that ? What are you considering?

I haven't played any of the Mafia games. I'll check that out and see if I have any of them in my list of un-played games, which is embarrassingly long.

Hagatha, did you ever meet up with a Lord of the Lost Ones in all your exploration? There is one in North Grave just south of the Northwind Camp. They are the most powerful characters in the game. I couldn't use melee because he would kill me with one swing. Magic was out because I couldn't throw fireballs fast enough. So I decided it would have to be the bow.

I did find a perch close to the building where they were hiding out and summoned my Oorbaya to pull them out. I did kill the bowman when he just stood still, but the Lord was tough to get out. He finally ran out and across the path and behind a big rock. Every once in a while he would step out and I got a shot with my fire bow. It took a long while but I did kill him. Earlier, I met up with the female version in the Crypt by the Dunville Myrad. She had the greatsword I used the rest of the game.

I've pretty much finished my post game exploring.

I pretty much explored the whole map so I may have come across this guy.

I wish I'd finished the game before my computer bit the biscuit. It'll be a while before I can buy a new one -- we just renovated our kitchen and I'll have to save some pennies.

EDIT: Wait -- the old girl (my Alienware, not me grin) still has some life left in her! Our local tech was not only able to save her, but give her a complete workover. She's been upgraded to Windows 10 and has a new battery. Game on!

I just happened to notice that you were back. Great news about your Alienware! I just upgraded to Win 10 too. Still getting used to it but think it will work out well. Let me know how you are doing in the game.

I couldn't resist getting revenge against the beatdown I got in Thalgard, so I headed back there. I had picked up the one handed sword Deathstorm from the Colossus and it made a difference. I cleared all those Sunborns out without too much trouble. I still have my game installed.

I hope my game saves are intact! They should be, but you never know.

EDIT: Game saves are intact, but coming back to this game right in the middle of the boss fight after months of not playing is not recommended! hardwall My poor archer never makes it past the first of the glowing thingies.

I might have to give up.
