Another nothing sort of day. The most exciting thing on the list is trying out my new cordless vacuum - I got thoroughly sick of the built-in vacuum, having to drag that long, heavy cord everywhere, untwisting it every minute or two, and carting it up and down the stairs, and to top it all off it doesn't quite reach the corners, which then have to be swept by hand. A torture implement invented by someone who has never actually had to vacuum a house!

Good morning, Danish, Donuts, and Bagels in the Break Room. Breakfast out, decorating the Eagles for Christmas later. Our dinners change from week to week. The first and third Sat. are the Ladies Aux., second and fourth Sat. are the Aerie who make the dinners. This week was Sausage and Peppers, Salad, Rolls, and Ambrosia for dessert.

Spicy Italian sausage and peppers is one of my favourites. Sadly, we can't eat anything remotely spicy around here any longer.
EDIT: I see we're under a snowfall warning for tonight and tomorrow. Just a light dusting, and we have an SUV for getting around, so it'll actually be quite pretty.

We have had about an inch of snow so far this evening. An astonished Dude went out on the balcony, walked up to the snow, decided it was way too strange for him , and shot back through the door. I guess he never saw snow before in his past life. Willow, on the other hand, plays in it. if we have several inches, she likes to dig a tunnel.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Monday Moanday is right, Soot!
We had a huge dump of snow overnight. Now it's turned to wet snow, but is gearing up for another big dump tonight. We braved the unplowed roads to get groceries, only to find that the entire dwntown area is without power and literally nothing is open. Fortunately the gas station on the highway near us has a generator and a small convenience store, and they had staples, so we've at least got milk and eggs, and bread. Also, our power is stil on for some reason, so we're snug for the time being.

Oh, no! So is your heat pump quieter after your neighbor worked on it, hagatha?
I had a LOVELY day today! It was my 5 year colonoscopy and all was well. Just a couple of small polyps which they will biopsy as always. I usually have one or two. A very dear friend put her colonoscopy off for over 10 years and now she is battling stage 3 colon cancer. So get your colonoscopy, people!!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Draclvr, unfortunately no, the heat pump is not quiet.
The installer has ordered a new compressor under the warranty, but given the supply chain issues here in BC it could be a while! The pump works, but it is noisy, and until it's properly set up and working the way it should be, I'll have the vibration noise in the bedroom, too, from the electrical connections going through the wall. Once it's all working correctly, they can sound proof the hole, which is where a lot of the noise comes from. I'm sure it'll all be fine once it's finished, whenever that might be. I'm really not happy, but what can I do? They haven't asked for payment, so I guess they intend to get it all sorted out first.
We just have it on to warm the place up, then turn it off. Our big Valor gas fireplace heats the entire upstairs and the downstairs has in-floor heating, so we're fine anyway.
Ugh. I had my first colonoscopy two years ago, and it was not fun. The results indicate that I have to be retested every five years, too. My guy never went in for his test, which could have prevented all of the sufffering he's been through. But doctors should be telling their patients to start getting tested for polyps and colon cancer once they hit 50 years old, and most of them don't.

Here in the US, most all physicians recommend a coloscopy starting at age 50. I know way too many who refuse. A friend in Scotland said they are sent one of the "in-home" tests every year. If something is amiss with that test, then they go in for a coloscopy. As my friend who is battling colon cancer said, one day of unpleasantness is nothing compared to what she is going through with the radiation. And she is just in early days - she still has chemo and surgery ahead of her. All could have been avoided had she gotten the test when she was supposed to. I lost my second husband to colon cancer for the same reason.
Going to start getting some Christmas decorations up today. My granddaughter is coming over to bake cookies on Saturday and I should have SOMETHING up! She is 15 and I kind of figured she was getting too old for it, but she still wants to do it! She is a big fan of "traditions." I need to find my Christmas cooking baking sweatshirt - my DIL got us matching sweatshirts a couple of years ago.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Draclvr, the in-home test kit and lab requisition sat on John's desk for six months, until we started packing to move to our townhouse in West Vancouver. Then it went into the garbage bin. That was over ten years ago. This is a very slow-growing cancer. I suspect if he had been tested 15 years ago he would have already been at stage 2. But we just don't bother thinking about it, because it isn't worth it.
As Draclvr says, people, if you're over 50, get tested! It could save your life.
More rain and snow and slippery roads. I have a hair apointment today and I'm wondering if they ever got the poe=wer back on. I guess we'll see as soon as we hit the first set of traffic lights.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
