Can anybody recommend a safe. inexpensive and reliable site to install JS?

Thanks.

There are so many dodgy places to download JavaScript. To be honest, I'd just get it from the source.

https://www.javascript.com/

I haven't downloaded it because most browsers have it disabled for security reasons. From what I understand, you can turn it on if you want scripting at the websites you visit. Maybe someone else will have some experience with JavaScript downloads from other websites.
