Today, the interactive movie game Breakout 13 released its first English trailer, together with an English demo launched on Steam. Breakout is developed by ALT Lab, an indie game team. The official Steam release will be on January 9, 2023.

Breakout 13 is a narrative adventure game with interactive cinematic experience. The game is based on true stories in China, and puts players in dilemmatic situations once highly controversial and influences the outcome of the game. Breakout 13 has massive intricate storylines, and players can 「experiment」with choices, developing their own narrative branches.

The game is mostly inspired by a real world character almost known by all Chinese gamers, Yang Yongxin, also known as "Spark of Madness" and "The Doctor". Yang Yongxin, a psychiatrist who promoted and practiced questionable electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) as a cure for alleged Internet addiction in teenagers. Additionally, he used the alleged disease and therapy as a publicity cover to demonize video games and profitted from desperate families.

Players act as a typical game-loving teenager, who goes through various hardships, faces challenges with his friends, fights against an evil force led by Principal Yang, and uncover the cruel truth lying underneath the so-called gratitude correction center. Every choice along the way will influence how the journey ends.
