Fragments of Truth: an MCF Story Collectors Edition

Tried the demo; bought it; played the main game and the bonus game. Although it doesn't seem to have the overall size and quality one expects from a Mystery Case Files game, I enjoyed it and look forward to the traditional release in about 3 months. I'm also in the middle of Detectives United: Vengeance from the Past.

Tally Ho, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed Fragments of Truth.

The MCF game in November has the title of Mystery Case Files: House That Love Built.

I am now playing Strange Cases: The Secrets of Grey Mist Lake. This and the same developer's games were all removed from the BF website years ago, so you won't find it there. I am finding it to be a very nice game.

Thanks Mad! I know that I recently saw a post about getting some game to full screen but, like you, I worry that something else will be affected (and I don't remember what/where I saw what I saw). We'll see. I may look into it more.

Tally Ho, thanks for the information regarding the MCF Story. When I saw that game I had been wondering if the end of the MCF series had come and they were transitioning to the more HOG type games that seem to be coming out. Same thought I had about that Grim Chronicles game.

Marian, thanks for saving me the time of looking up Strange Cases, which I don't have.

Never mind. My mind is going!

Grim Chronicles: Superior Sorcery is a full-on HOPA with no indications that it is heading towards a HOG.

It is true that a lot of releases are HOGs now (or HOPs), but I know of 13 HOPA betas right now and that is not including Do Games which is still going strong. So it seems that it will be a while yet before we have to worry about their demise (if that ever comes to pass). It is a far cry from the days when we had about 8 HOPAs a month, though. On the bright side, the slower pace has allowed me to play more of my backlog.

I just finished Strange Cases: The Secrets of Grey Mist Lake. Quite a good game. I'm glad I finally played it.

Oh, that puzzle was sooo easy once I paid attention. First of all the instructions mention something about 3 moves. Who believes that? I just started clicking around yesterday. Today I actually took a look at the puzzle and yes, 3 moves was all it took! blush

Oh, and I had to find a skink. I thought it was a misspelled word. It wasn't.

I left the bonus game of my Mystery Case Files for another time - and have now started Royal Legends Marshes Curse CE, which I am enjoying rather more 👍

I think I've played all the Dana Knightstone games. Some more than once. Yet I don't remember much about them - except that I liked them 😃

Enjoy !!

I have also played all of the Dana Knightstone games (only once) but don't remember much about them. I recently re-purchased the first game - Death at Fairing Point - because I only had it on disc. I did install it with the thought of replaying the series at some point.

I just finished Witch Hunters: Stolen Beauty. Wonderful game! I had played it once years ago and was even more impressed with it this time around.

Now starting The Agency of Anomalies: Cinderstone Orphanage.

Oh, and I loved the Dana Knightstone game, as always. smile

Hi Marian.

"Witch Hunters : Stolen Beauty"

I don't have this game and quite like the look of it - but would it play in Win 10 slapforehead

Which system did you play it on ??

It was already installed on a Windows 7 computer, so I played it on that.

However, if you go to Gamehouse and type in the name of the game and then click on system requirements, it says that it runs on Windows 7/8/10/11. So, unless Gamehouse and Big Fish have different versions of the game, it sounds like it would run. I would try to install it on our Windows 11 computer but my son is using it at the moment.

The game has no voiceovers, so it's old school that way. What it does have is beautiful graphics, great music, interesting puzzles, and a good length. Lots of to-ing and fro-ing, but I find that a great exercise for my memory. I think this game was discussed somewhere in our Casual Games Reviews and Recommendations thread; in fact, you can find it on this page. 8dognight and then Reenie discuss it. I think I liked it even more than Reenie did.

Mad, I have the game from Steam installed on my Win 10 so I just tried it out. Seems to work. I didn't go too far in it though.

I hope you enjoy the game!

I am still playing The Dark Hills of Cherai. I did try to use alt w/spacebar to enlarge the play area but nothing happened. Do you suppose the box for full screen should be unchecked? The default had it checked and I figured that was how it should be. I haven't wanted to attempt to uncheck it in case I mess up the game.

It's a pretty good game. I've used the hint button a few times in the HO scenes, not too many times though. Right now I am stuck in this dark maze where you have to move the footprints through the maze without touching a wall. I've tried it in two different play sessions and have spent at least a half hour on it. The biggest trouble for me is holding the mouse button down while I navigate through the maze. I've gotten about half way through it on several occasions but then hit a wall and have to start over. I may skip this one. I'll wait until it's the only thing left that I can do. You play as three different characters. One is as far as she can go for now. One is stuck at the maze but has other stuff to do once he can get a key from somewhere/someone. The third still has stuff to do. I just left her in a HO scene because my eyes are starting to get to me. smile

Thanks oldbroad 🙂

I played the “Cherai” game a long time ago but can’t remember anything about it. Not even if I liked it or not. But I have encountered that “don’t touch the wall” puzzle in several other games. Sometimes easy and sometimes not.
However, tired eyes won’t help at all 😯 So maybe after a break you’ll conquer it !!

EDIT :

If you Google “How to switch window to full screen” you should find several easy things to try that you shouldn’t find daunting 🤞

I finished the game. I was able to get through the maze using a different path which I had tried multiple times before and couldn't even get started on it. Managed to figure it out though. Now I went ahead and started the sequel, The Dark Hills of Cherai: The Regal Scepter in my Win 7 computer with a full screen. Since the game plays differently than most others I wanted to get to it while the gameplay was still fresh in my mind. It seems like this game is going to be harder.
