I immediately downloaded and started playing. This remaster is absolutely beautiful! This has to be some of the best graphics I have seen in a remaster. Microids has done a great job with it. Take the keyboard and put it aside, completely mouse driven. The game runs in chapters auto saving within a chapter. Winding gears bottom left of screen appear when saving. You can actually see them. You have a gear, open book and phone top right. The gear takes you to a menu:



The open book holds Objectives, Documents and Objects - inventory collected. Documents can be enlarged by clicking "Read" below the document. This is a nice feature

The phone lists contacts or you can dial a number

Mouse driven the left mouse button is used to click on an object to examine, collect items, start conversations and move around. There is no 360 panning. A nice feature to the left button is a "double click hold" to run. Kate follows the movement of the mouse as you hold or you can double click an area and she will run to it. The right button is suppose to move the camera around and rotate objects. I don't understand this, the scene barely moves side to side up or down. Maybe one has to be in the right place for this to work. Rotating objects does the same not rotating an object all the way around for examination. Again maybe it takes the right object.

Well I am gonna continue on. I hope for a review by flotsam

Orion, I hope I have as much enthusiasm about the game when I play it as you seem to have. The graphics just don't look as good to me in any of the videos I've seen so far, and the movement and interface all looks (and has been described as) clunky. I'll still play it eventually though.

I'm slightly hesitant to purchase in that there is no manual saving allowed, only at checkpoints, as was the case with the lovely Amerzone Remaster. Some are also saying that even with newer PCs the system is taxed heavily. I"m not sure if my 5 yr old Dell desktop gaming PC can play this without heavy stuttering and/or frame loss. But no manual saves is extremely dissapointing to this older gamer,who can't spend hours at a time on his PC. I DO love the original SYberia; it remains one of my favorite games of all time. SO I might give it a shot to see how it plays on my PC.

I was looking forward to this release and I thought the graphics improvements were good but the reviews haven't been kind. not sure if I want to spend $35.00 to puchase syberia the third time.

No manual saves. I didn't buy Amerzone, and I'm not going to buy this one either.

I have noticed you can force a save by entering a new area. Which where I am is as simple as entering a building.

I have yet to find a video that does this remaster justice oldbroad. Enlarging them degrades the resolution even more and does not represent the graphics in game. The video I posted earlier was the best I could find and it starts at the very beginning

I have yet to come across a bug and the game hasn't crashed on me. Cut scenes many are complaining about, well Microids used the originals and just upscaled them to look better and they do. To be honest I did not notice the cut scenes were only upscaled at first. It took reviews stating the obvious for me to take notice

I have noticed character stuttering from time to time but only in tight quarters like a room not out in the open

Take a look at the positive reviews on Steam. Some give you pros and cons others have no issues with it running the way it is. The negatives are doing a number on the game

I think this is a remaster worth playing oldbroad. If you decide to play it someday I hope you get some enjoyment out of it. I like my trip back to Syberia. It has been a long time


Finding that forced save was a good find flotsam

Not really selling the game, Orion. The more I look at the remake, the more I like the original better, and I especially hate the way Kate looks. Like I said, I will play it some day but I don't know if I will be able to put my objections aside. Most of the time while I was playing the updated Amerzone, I found myself muttering against it. I really do appreciate the effort that they are trying to "update" some of the games, but...

Well I tried, stick with the original . It's been a favorite for many

I downloaded the original from GOG a couple days back to check it out. It ran well on my W11. I was surprised. The original is a great game
