Hard on the heels of the recently reworked Amerzone, we now have this, the next game released by Benoît Sokal back in the day (2002) and the first of what became a series with three sequels. Like Amerzone, I played the original back then and remember it positively, but I haven’t played it since and apart from some general recollections the detail escapes me. This review is therefore based solely on my experience playing this version. The game revolves around Kate Walker, a lawyer despatched to the European town of Valadilène, a clockpunk out-of-the-way place, to secure the purchase of the Voralberg automaton factory. An untimely death adds an unforeseen complication and sets Kate off on a journey the likes of which she could never have expected. Thank you flotsam. I’ve played the original more than once and enjoyed it. Not sure, though, whether I fancy playing this re-mastered version as well (Thanks Draclvr.)

Until now, I have never disagreed with one of Flotsam's review. Sadly. I have also never been as disappointed in a game as I am with "Syberia Remastered." The visuals were generally stunning, Nothing else was improved much from the original. The voice acting was, indeed, impressive, but that too was true of the original. This new game ran a bit awkwardly on my computer, so that was contributed to the list of irritations. I really was impressed by and enjoyed the remastered "Amerzone," and was, therefore, really looking forward to this game. Now, I doubt that I'll bother to finish it.

Excellent review flotsam. Thank you
I'm still enjoying my trip back. I had both versions running. After about 2 hours in on both I dropped the original, its time has come and gone, and am continuing on with the remaster. I love the visuals, they trump Kates static movement I get from time to time and those upscaled cutscenes. Like you I am enjoying my time back with Kate and Oscar, one last journey
Thank you Drac
