I would take Darbue up to Bue just to have the extra life points. You've got a good mix of fairy types. Get them all some good spells and give it a try!

Absolutely gorgeous! Hubby is out cutting down the ornamental grasses. It's so windy our here you can hardly stand up though. Makes me just dread the new batch of snow and ice coming our way tomorrow.

Leveled up Darbue to Bue 26, Symgot 32. The rest are the same. Still working on the shadow elf.
Starting to freeze on trees and anything above ground.

Well, a huge YAY! I'm out of town all week in Columbia for statewide meetings, but just found a business center at the hotel so I can check e-mail etc.
Now you have some fun fights to get to the top of the Dwarf Tower. Have fun!
No snow at all in Columbia, but I guess we got about 10 inches out by us!

I made it to the top of the tower. Was I supposed to get a key or stone or something after the last fight at the top? I don't see anything. I'm wandering around the mountains now trying to level up my Psi fairy.

Yes, after defeating the 4th dwarf at the very top, you should have found a chest and gotten the Earth Stone. You also found out you needed 3 stones to operate all the screw lifts to go to other parts of Zanzarah-namely the Realm of Clouds and the Lava Caves. Doesn't it feel good when you finally defeat one of those hard Shadow Elf fights??

I remember he is really tough and he surprised me when he was there! I think with him, the trick is to match up fairies that are the strongest against his.
Once you get past him, this is a great place to level up your Tinezard or your Mentaur. They are strong against the Ice fairies. And keep one in your deck that is good against Psi fairies because you will be going back down into another Ice Cave up there.

Still trying to get that @#$%@# fairy. I have brought in JumJum and am leveling him up. I think he is at 12 now. Will he help when I level him up? And how high?

JumJum is my all time favorite fairy. The higher you get him the better. He is painfully slow in the beginning, but is deadly powerful when you get him leveled up at 30 or more. What kind of fairies does the Shadow Elf in the cave have?

Update: Symgot 38, Bue33, Aquena 31, now Oceana 32 Chum 32, JumJum 24. Also Tinefol 21.
Have not been back to the cave. Been busy leveling thesd guys up. Been doing this by the waterfall in the fairy garden. That way, it is easy to get to more mana and more health stuff.
Bets
Updated again.
Edit: Okay, some of them are: PSI, Water, Nature, Dark, Ice, Chaos, Fire.
My Chum is now Chumour. Not sure of the level. I think 35.

OK, this is where you start honing your skills at switching out your fairies. I'm on my 5th play through this game and I'm still not that good at it!
For instance, let's say the Shadow Elf has an Ice Fairy such as the bear. He is tough, tough, tough (get one as soon as you can to level up!). You have a level 35 Clumar which will decimate the bear. So if you enter the fight with a Nature Fairy and the first enemy is a bear, immediately switch to Clumar and hammer away. If the enemy switches to a Water Fairy, then you switch to the fairy in your deck that is good against Water Fairies. I love my Bue against the Water Fairies. Sometimes the enemy fairy has a spell that doesn't allow any damage for about 5 hits, but after that spell is used up, you can do some serious damage.
Switching out your fairies during a fight to put in the strongest fairies you have against the Shadow Elf's fairies will be even more critical later in the game. I have each of my fairy slots keyed to the numbers 1 - 5. The scroll wheel doesn't work for me as I seem to scroll right past the one I want! I try to remember which slot each of my fairies is in and hit that number to switch them out during a fight.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

I hated having to switch out fairies in a fight, the AI could do it so much faster. Still stuck in the last fight sessions and have lost all my fairies more times than I care to think about. One day I will go back and try again.
What kind of magic spell to use?

I loved that part of the game! It's been a long time since I've played though - can't you switch your fairies using the page up and page down keys? I thought that was what I did.

I have been using the scroll on the mouse, but I always miss, like Drac said. Now that I am using the gaming keyboard I will try to use the numbers instead. I think some of my fairies need leveling somemore anyway. Not sure if it is page up and down, but no way I can take my hand off the mouse, I would really mess up there.

I use my mouse for direction and the WSAD for direction. No way I could take my hand off the mouse either. you have to switch fairies so quickly some times that the only thing that works for me is to hit the 1-5 keys - assuming I remember which fairy is in which slot that is!

My mouse wheel works really good for switching fairies. I don't have a problem with that.
Drac, I have started switching fairies. Those fairies of the shadow elf's are some tough fighters. My biggest problem is finding where they are at sometimes.

Glad you mouse wheel works for you. I think I would get too excited and it would whiz past the one I wanted! If you wait long enough, they will come to you. I found it also depended on which arena I got as to how successful I was. A couple of the arenas are a pain in the rear. The circular one comes to mind...

There are a couple that are really dark and it is hard to see. Yes, that circular spiral one is really a pain.
I am gradually leveling up JumJum. His hit action is really low.
