I can't seem to get the web site to get the demo. I even told my pop-up blocker to except it. But it just hangs there. Is this normal and maybe I should wait longer? I wait around a minute. I have never had any problem before. This has happened for the past 2 days. Thanks. Vicki

Hello you all in Stuckville wave

I have uploaded walktrough for you here:
Walktrough

VRMpls2: May I ask what web browser do you use? Can you open at least ToH webpage or you can´t see it too?
Nevertheless demo is not on the webpage so use the direct link for the demo in the first post smile

What browser do you use, please? Internet Explorer, Firefox or some else?
That demo Carla has linked is not on the website of the game, it´s on another server- dou you have problems to acces Tale of Hero website as well or you have only problems to dowload the demo itself from Carla´s link, which uses FTP protocol(which is not the usual way how demo´s or other files are linked and can be source of your trouble)?

I use Internet Explorer. I can get to the sound samples, just not the demo one. Maybe you are right about the protocol. I don't know much about that, but it sounds like maybe that's the problem. I had no problem getting to the music. Thanks. Vicki

Personally- I think, that that other link on adveturesplanet.it was OK, because demo leaked on several other few sites anyway and can be downloaded from them. That first link, as I understood, was little bit problematic, as it went directly on FTP and weren´t mean to be public (as this demo without voiceovers were meant for previews and potential distributors).

When demo is downloadable in this version on internet anyway, I am sorry, that it wouldn´t be here as well, as this must be the nicest comunity I have ever seen and this game were meant for people just like you.

But take all of this only as my personal opinion, I do not work in Future Games anymore and have no right to speak for them. Just my thoughs smile

All in all I thank you all who played our demo without prejudices and for all your nice words- I don´t want to speak for others from our creative team, but it made my personal journey to bring this product in this world even more satisfactory smile

Hello tol, it has been a while since you posted but hopefully you will see this: I think the demo of tale of a hero was brilliant and I hope it gets a publisher as usually that is good for marketing / gaining media attention, but why can't future games just sell it direct on their website as a digital download? We gameboomers are already aware of it and I am sure would tell others of its existance. By the way, tol, do keep us updated of your future games(!).

Hi,

thank you for your kind words and for you support smile

I can not answer this question completely as I am not longer employee of Future Games (although I still cooperate with them due to eg. czech release of the game).

I would say that the main problem is english voiceovers which are unbelieveably expensive for czech developers (or maybe for most of non-english speaking developers). Audience is rather demanding on the quality of voiceovers so it have to be performed by the native speakers, preferably in the USA.

But as I said, I can´t answer this for the FutureGames, it is and always been their decision how to do marketing of Tale of a Hero and I can only guess what their next steps will be. This game never been their flagship anyway smile

As for my future games (heh, nice pun in this case) I am already in preproduction phase of something with couple of friends but these things always take time untill something presentable is on the desk. This forum will be one of the first site where we will present it when the time comes, that is for sure smile

At the end of this post I would like to add some download links on Tale of a Hero for people who hadn´t chance to try it yet:

Hi tol -- thanks for getting back to us! That's interesting about the expense of English voiceovers. Please do keep us posted about your next project. thumbsup

It's a pitty that the game is completely done and practically nobody knows about it. frown I hope for tol and his long and hard work invested in this charming game to pay off and the game gets the recognition it truly deserves.

It was a treat working on sound design for this gem. But as tol has already written, it's a future games' business and hopefully they'll fight for more recognition for Tale of a Hero than they do right now.

As a contractor (and not FG's employee) I'm baffled why they invested money to develop a game which they forgot to promote think

But I don't have enough input from inside to draw any conclusions. pacify

Anyway, luck to you tol and let's hope we'll all get to play ToH sooner than we expect! I'll be the first one in the queue to buy your game!

Too bad the demo is gone, I'd love to play it! The graphics look great though!

This seems like the kind of game that The Adventure Company would sell, I wonder why they don't pick it up?

dragonuk44: this often depends on whether voiceovers are alreday recorded or not (and that is expensive for some developers- see my post above frown ). Often is demo released rather long time after release of whole game.

SkeeterUK: I am sorry for that. As I have already explained before why there are no voiceovers in demo- it wasn´t originaly intended to go public. But personally I really AM glad that it went yes

Anyway I hope that some day english voiceovers will be recorded (if some distributor from english speaking country will pick this game- some other languages are being already recorded these days). And I am hope that when that time will come, you will enjoy it. It is great honor to me that it reminds you of TLJ as this is one of my most favorite games of all time smile

Tol -- I'm really curious. Are English voiceovers significantly more expensive than voiceovers in other languages?
