Thanks Drac, I just caught my first pixie and was able to buy potions in the shop. I need to go back and read about the spells--the colors ect--now that I found the guy to buy them from. I've been training a bit too, but now think I'll go see if I can catch pixies.

Go back to the cottage and get your reward!
Have you taken care of the Scarecrow's problems yet? He will be VERY nice to your fairies whenever you need him during the game! A level 10 - 15 Worgot will do you nicely here.

Nope, haven't even heard of the scarecrow yet. I got my reward from the cottage, but then Son dropped g'son by. He isn't feeling well and was not in the mood to let me play with anyone but him.

Hi L4L! I didn't know you hadn't played this yet. Are you having fun? Training does get a little repetitive, but such a fun game otherwise! I think I read a page back or so that you mentioned how mana usually replenishes with rest in RPGs. A lot of the difference in approach here is that this is a real hybrid of a game. Forgive me if it's been mentioned, but anytime you're wondering what you need to do in the game, you can look at your map - an exclamation mark will be over the area(s) you need to go to.

Hi ya Nickie, nope bought it a long time ago, but was too busy to play. Finished a review and was struck by the RPG bug so thought I'd play NWN2, but son hasn't unpacked that box yet. So browsed what I did have and thought it might be fun to shoot some fairies. Thanks for the map info. I went to the archives last night and made a compilation of the tips. I did not know about the trainer, so just headed out and got attacked by Wild Fairies and Sheesh--that was awful. But I found the spot to turn down the mouse sensitivity which helped a lot and then ya'll told me about the trainer which has also been good. I am sooooo not coordinated so I'm hoping this game will improve that It's pretty, and I like the music too. I love the way the folks don't talk to you in English. Still tons and tons to learn. I see you can play multiplayer. Has anyone done that?

The first time I played it I can't tell you how many times I bounced the poor gal off the walls. But it does get to feeling more natural. And if I wasn't blowing myself up with my own spells, I was falling into an abyss. Still, I loved the game and played it several times. Not as many times as Looney though, who I think holds the current record! Although Drac may be hot on her heels at this point. There will be beings that sell different kinds of spells in different areas. Worth while making a note to yourself about which is where.

I've played 5 times! And, of course even after playing this game so many times I NEVER blow myself up with my own spells. Oh, no... The third time through I did fill my fairy book completely though! Whew! That was hard...

Hi guys, this game is too much fun! I love that I can bring my fairies back to life I have a question or two though. Are you penalized if you flee a fight? I haven't fled on purpose but a couple of times, I've done it by accidentally flying into the light. Also, are defensive spells only good for so many uses and then they are gone? Also, I can't seem to unequip a spell. Is that correct or am I missing something? Edit: I assume I don't need 2 of the same kind of fairy? Edit 2: I have 5 fairies and have gone back to London, but what do I do here?

OK. No, you are not penalized if you flee a fight other than you don't get any "rewards" such as coins and such. Actually, you will be finding some Garlic Atomizers which will allow you to completely avoid a fight if you aren't ready for it.
You spells - both offensive and defensive - are good as long as you keep them equiped with mana. If you have one that is 30/30 and it drops to 10, it's best if you mana up your fairy.
The only way you can unequip a spell is to replace it with another one.
As your fairies advance, they will evolve (if you allow it) into their next form. Usually that form is much stronger and has more hit points. Some have 2 or 3 forms. So it is up to you whether to keep more than one of one fairy. If you are trying to fill up the fairy card, you will need more as you evolve them up to other forms.
When you go to London, that is where you can switch out fairies. If you only have 5, there won't be any more you can change to as your "fairy deck" has 5 slots. If you have captured other fairies and say, you need a Psi fairy for a fight, but you don't have one in your deck, go to London and click on the fairy card icon to see all your available fairies you have captured. Then you can swap out the one you need for one you can "park" in London for awhile.
I think I got them all!! Let me know if I wasn't clear enough - it's been a long day with a far-too-intimate relationship with landscaping stones...

Ahhhh Landscaping stones--so pretty once they are in place, but gee, wouldn't it be fun to have a Rock fairy to put them there. Thanks Draclvr, you did indeed cover my questions. I've been exploring and training and getting used to switching out fairies during a fight. Now I need to find a source for the globes that I catch the fairies in. I'm having a blast--I'm sure Soot is ready to kill me as that is all I've done today. I'm going to check the TP for an extra copy and then we can do some fights together (at least, that is what I understand from the manual) I'm glad the spells stay good--I wasn't sure what was happening there. So, I couldn't do anything in London because there was nothing to do there--good. I'm so glad I found the Cottage Stone--I was getting tired of that run (not to mention lost a lot)

When you get to Tiralin, there will be an Elf there who will sell you spheres to catch fairies with.
Have you helped the Scarecrow at the cottage yet? He's a very helpful guy!

Sounds like you are having a great time L4L.
Drac. My metal guy has two spell squares in passive spells. I'd like to level that up to three. Is there any way I can get that leveled up? My other guy is already leveled up to 60 and all he has is 2 squares in passive. I could use higher spells for them. Anything else I can do. I have used the metal tools on them both.
When I go to the blacksmith, he won't sell me defensive spells with 3 circles. Anyplace else I can buy them?

Bets, my Gigarex at level 60 has two squares for one and 1 square for the other one. I think passive is the square ones? it may be the other way around. The two slots for the round ones each have 3 circles. As I understand it, that's as good as it's going to get.
Those spell sellers drove me nuts. I'd buy $500 worth of spells and never get what I needed. Spells for the Stone Fairies were tough to come by too.

Hi guys I finally made it to Dunmore and have a few more spells so I just want to be sure I'm right before giving them to a fairy.
When looking at the spells, the more lights they have, the better in general yes? I mean, a spell with 5 lights will fire faster with less time to recharge than a spell of 1 light, yes?
So on the other side, does a spell with 3 lights use more mana than a spell of 1 light? So you run out more often?

I can answer your first question, yes. As for the second one, I believe it works the same way as the first one. The more lights, the more mana you have for that spell. Look at your fairy at F5. Each set of numbers such as 30/30 tells you the mana you have for that spell. Are you with me or did I confuse you?
Click on the tab for passive or defencive spells. Run your mouse over each spell and it will tell you how much mana, damage, etc that you have for that spell.

Yep, Bets, I got ya. I just wanted to be sure that what I thought was real. I remember playing one RPG where higher numbers were good for one stat but lower numbers were better for a different statistic.
Edit: ok back with a question. I went back to Tirilin and just beat the dwarf in front of the Western Gate, but I still can't get through the gate to the ruins. I thought I had the key to that gate, but apparently not. Do you know where I will get that key?
Also, I know there is a shamrock somewhere in Tiralin, but I've checked every chest and closet (or I think I have) but I can't find it Does anyone remember exactly where it is?

Plus you will find that you will sometimes have to give up one advantage to get another one. For instance one that allows your shots to fire up faster will have less mana than one than one with some other attribute.
You will not get the Iron Key until later in the game. It will allow you to open that gate and several others.
The shamrock is in Tiralin in in the City Hall. I can't remember for sure, but I think you win the key to that room from an Elf you will have to fight later. Your goal now is to find the Fairy Card of Nature (with a Nature Fairy in slot 1) so you can get rid of all the prickly bushes. I think the Elf you have to fight to get the key to the room in City Hall has 3 Ice Fairies and he is in an area at the far right of the final Fairy Garden screen where there is an owl near a stone ramp leading up to another area blocked by a stone. Then you need to find the Fairy Card of Earth (with a stone fairy in slot 1) to blow up stones blocking your way.
You have lots of work and fairy fights ahead of you!

Ahhhh thanks Drac. I don't have any fairies that are effective against Ice Guys. I ran into one somewhere yesterday and all 5 of my fairies were "ineffective." Thanks for telling me about the Shamrock. I had seen in the archives that it was in Tiralin and so made sure I checked everywhere, but there we locked doors that I can't get through. Thanks for telling me about needing a nature fairy in slot 1 too--I have several but whether they would be in the #1 slot or not is problematical. I am so caught up with this game--it's baaaaaad
