I'm working on the Fighter's Guild quests right now. I'm way, way up north looking for Vas. There seems to be someone on that island I need to see. Did I mention it's way, way up north???
I haven't heard of "Vas" are you refearing to "Vos"? http://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/hints/morrownd/1.phpUnfortunately I joined the Thieves guild before I got the code book. She thinks we're pals and won't give it up to me. And if I steal it (which I can't since my stealing skills are non existent), I'm toast with the Thieves (even though I'm not sure I'm going to finish their quests I still want that option).
You don't have to steal the code book http://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/hints/morrownd/1091.phpIf either one of you comes across a man hiding from nix hounds around Ald'ruhn would you tell him his wife is looking for him? I can't find the twerp. I never found that guy either, so I always ignored that quest

Hi Gotta question Somehow, somewhere along the way, my agility has become impaired and is showing as a (reduced) red number [I suppose I could have overdone the mountaineering and just plain wore myself out ?? ] Anyway, the people I have spoken to say I have a disease so .... I have tried drinking the different cure disease potions I own but no success there. I have also tried specific agility potions - which do work but the effect is only temporary. And I have been to a temple but the healer there didn't cure me. Has anybody any idea what I should try next, please ?? As there are several people who are even refusing to speak to me !!!! Cheers. Your disease could be cured, but it could be that your agility is damaged. So the potions to increase your agility would only work temporarily. What you need is a Restore Agility potion or spell rather than an increase agility potion.
Edit: I just caught the "people not talking to you" part. You probably have Blight, in which case you're going to need to get a Cure Blight potion.

Thanks Trail - I've sold the Dark Brotherhood armor so I can re-buy it if I want. I haven't come across any glass armor yet - lots of glass swords, daggers and axes however. I'm not sure why I want to switch except for the weight thing. I need to unload all the magical amulets, rings etc onto someone.
Smiley there is actually a Vas - it's a little island up north by Dagon Fel. It's a Fighter's Guild quest to kill a necromancer. Vos is on the mainland and I've been there also.
Mad try going to a temple shrine (they are inside the temples, they look like triangle shaped pieces of wood) You pay like 5 gold and then you get an option on what blessing you want. I had my blight disease cured that way. I thought I had a spell for Cure Blight disease but I only have one that works on touch and I'm not sure if that works on you or just on someone else.

I'm working on the Fighter's Guild quests right now. I'm way, way up north looking for Vas.
That is my next one to do, Vas doesn't show on the game map, but I did find it on one of the posted ones. I also have something else to do near there. Do we have to walk all that way or is there some boat we take to get closer. "If either one of you comes across a man hiding from nix hounds around Ald'ruhn would you tell him his wife is looking for him? I can't find the twerp." I found him, is is about one ridge, maybe more, over to the west, he really blends in with the landscape, especially in the ash storms. I ran into the Koal Cave guy too, saved first to see what he wanted, said no and reloaded my game. I was busy on my way elsewhere and he was going in the opposite direction and in a hurry.

Hi Continued weirdness !! I have drunk a "cure common disease" and a "cure blight disease" and every other possibly relevant potion known to man (or elf ) and none of my stats are showing red. The occasional person I meet (I'm way out in the wilds at the moment - mountaineering again ) will (thankfully) speak to me now BUT they do still tell me I have a disease .... So, looks like I'll just have to put up with this condition, whatever it is, till I get back to civilisation. Cheers. Mad

The only disease that is not curable is Corpus and that should actually increase your strenth stats. Have you taken part in any quests that involved mention of Corpus? Or does your strength stat look higher than it should? If not then it's probably a bug, if it is Corpus, then it's been nice knowing you.

So Trail, is the only cure for Corpus (sounds really nasty) a save? Shudder, I hope I never catch it!! Actually, it's part of the main quest line. I was kidding Mad about the "Nice knowing you" part. You'll find out about it eventually.

Oh good, I thought I would end up like that guy in the Vivec St Olms Underworks. I think I am going to try to figure out how to get up north, gonna be a long hike since right now I am way down south. To make it worse, I will have to get back down here when I get stronger to finish up the Nchurdamz task. Now where did that boat drop me off.

You should be able to cure any disease except Corpus by going to a temple.
You can get North by taking a boat to one of the Tels. Tel Vos takes you north, I think, to another Tel (Tel Aruhn?)that will send you north again to the north islands.
Or maybe I have that the wrong way around. Anyway the way north is from the east, via the Tels.

Is there any way of telling what disease you have in this game? I think in Oblivion it said somewhere in the stats if I remember correctly. I had some sort of disease also - wasn't aware of it until someone said they didn't want to catch what ever it was I had. If you don't know what you've got how can you cure it?
Hawka as far as I know you have to walk and that includes water walking in order to get to Vas. Be careful - that necromancer is a toughie and the so called fighter you are helping is no help at all. I accidentially killed her once because she got in the way. She just tags along and does nothing but yacks.
What happens if you don't complete one of the quest givers quests? I am not going to kill the tax lady in Seyda Neen that the quest giver in Vivec gave me. Just doesn't feel right - after all the Fighter's Guild is not the Morag Tong. If I don't finish his quests does that mean I can never aspire to being the high mucky muck of the Fighter's Guild?
Edit : Mad just had a thought - you haven't come across any vampires have you? The only reason I ask is because I came across a group of them in a tomb and got out fast because I was afraid I'd get infected. I know in Oblivion you had three days to get cured but I'm not sure about Morrowind.

I'm thinking that the indication of a disease would be one of your attributes being messed up. I don't think there is any indication other than that in your menus. Either that or people tell you... I believe that there will be a little pop-up window that is hard to catch that will tell you that you have just contacted "Hell Joint" or some such disease.
Ways to catch a disease are fighting a diseased animal, taking the goods from a diseased animal, fighting a diseased person or creature, having too much to drink at Desele's House of Earthly Delights in Suran...

Oh great Syd, I got here by way of silt striders, then a boat from Khuul to Dagon Fel, then out here with all the cliff racers. I got bushwhacked by a couple of Orc looking guys, just cause I walked down the wrong road. I crossed on narrow section of water and I see on my map that Vas is directly across a large stretch of water. I do not have water-walking so I am resigned to being killed, sigh, when I finally meet the necromancer. At this rate I will probably cheat a teleport back to civilization and try for my other quest for Skink-in-A-Tree. Edit here: Syd is right, no way am I ready for this, hopeless case helper couldn't even whack the skeleton. I whacked the skeletons, rats and two of those Bone things, then was jumped by those two that place themselves in purple bubbles, cheaters. I tryed three times, then quit, of course then for the first time, my game crashed, must be telling me something. To make it worse, I guess she was summoning her ancestral ghost and I kept trying to kill it, I will be back!!!!!!! after I level up some more. Oh yuck, I never take anything from anything diseased, I just hope that I kill them quickly enough so I don't catch anything.

Hi "I believe that there will be a little pop-up window that is hard to catch that will tell you that you have just contacted "Hell Joint" or some such disease." Yes, I've caught things like that on my mountain treks but a potion or scroll or something has always cured them .... AND I've met vampires Anyway, since my last post I've visited a shrine and asked for "attributes restored" so I'm hoping that has now done the trick Thanks to you all for responding. It is a great comfort to know that someone out there cares enough to help Cheers. Mad

Syd, you should be able to get more Fighter's Guild quests from someone at another Fighter's Guild House.
If you don't complete a quest (except for main storyline quests)it just stays open in your journal with no repercussions except that you can't get any more quests from that one person. Until you get to the higher levels of each Guild there are usually two sources of Guild quests. I've never completed that quest, and have still gone on to rule the three main guilds (Fighter, Mage, Thief).

Hi My "blessing" definitely did the trick - I can speak to all and sundry again now !! And last evening - following the completion of a couple more quests - I reached the giddy heights of level 8 .... Yahoo !! I must admit though that God Mode might be getting called on soon - just temporarily - for some of the tomb visits .... I can beat some of the baddies in them some of the time but certainly not all the baddies all of the time Cheers. Mad

Mad have you been using a silver weapon on the undead, that seems to work the best for me. Used one on the spirit in Favel tomb up North in nowhere land and he went down pretty easy. I got lots of loot to haul (cheat) to Creeper, off the Guar hide thieves and some bandits or whatever they were close to the tomb. Then I have to report back to Sadrith Mora, forget about Vas for now, I am only level 5 and that's not good enough for purple bubble baddies. I am just to slow whenever I try to use magic, then when I get it going it wears off. Trail, when and where can I find those constant effect spells, all I have it temp ones.

Hi hawkavonpuka Yes, I have a silver claymore - plus a selection of "magic" swords and daggers that can poison, burn, give frost damage and cause all kinds of general mayhem . But I particularly like the one that's called (I think) a Wildspark I am certain my levelling up has been helped by spending hours on the road - battling with everything that came at me. And I do still spend hours on the road - because despite access to several maps I still have difficulty finding places/things AND whenever I have any spare cash I buy "training" Cheers. Mad

Don't be in too much of a rush to use any kind of cheat in Morrowind, Mad. Ultimately you'd regret it, I think. This is a long, long game, and you'll have ample time to see your character become a powerhouse beyond imagining. Theoretically there's a limit to the maximum character level you can attain, but I've never reached it, and in one game I had a level 72 character or something ridiculous like that at the end of the Tribunal expansion, and over 1 million stashed away, plus two rooms full of shiny things. At that point the game isn't really a whole lot of of fun because nothing can touch you, so unless you're into wandering around collecting things and exploring every nook and cranny there's not much left to do. Just enjoy the ride. Wander around and battle with easier enemies and do the in-town quests. Train a little in some of the skills you aren't using right now. The adrenaline part of the game is in the earlier stages, when you're discovering things and figuring out what you want your character to become and discovering what the game is all about. Hawk, there aren't any Constant Effect spells per se. They're just regular spells that have been enchanted into a high-value item by using a Golden-Saint filled Soul Gem. So if you have Fortify Intellingence in your spell list, you take your exquisite amulet (or ring, or robe or good armour) to an enchanter, and he or she will make your Amulet of Constant Effect Intelligence, which will then increase your intelligence by a certain amount for as long as you wear the amulet. When you talk to the enchanter about enchanting, a special screen will open up, and you select your item, your Soul Gem and the spell you want to put on the item. You get several choices, so make sure you choose the Constant Effect choice. Always save before you enchant an item in case you make a costly mistake. And enchanting doesn't work will spell scrolls. You have to have learned the spell you want to use in the enchantment. Enchanting is a lot of fun once you see how it works. Some effects can be chosen to work on yourself, and some can be chosen to work on your enemy. You can, for instance, make armour that increases your strength or dexterity, or make absolutely deadly weapons. I've always been partial to Deadric swords enchanted with Absorb Health for 2 seconds at power level 7-8. Every blow with the sword decreases your enemiy's health and increases your own. You just gotta like that. Oh, and the coolest thing is that you can even give your enchanted items names. My last health-stealing Deadric Sword was called Eat This, but I have also wielded the mighty Utalkintome and the matchless Justkidding.

Wow Hagatha, that is alot of information, the only spells that come up when I use that screen are Bound Dagger and Summon Ancestral Ghost, doesn't seem that there is much that I can do with them. The only cheat I am using is the one that Syd mentioned, to get back to Creeper when you are miles away.
I finally, finally got the skull from the Andrano Tomb, so that Blades quest is now complete, took me forever. I am now getting brave enough (shaking in my Orc boots) to enter unknown tombs, mines and such, of course I save first and it they are too strong for me, I move on and make note of it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Right now I have four unfinished quests, most of them involve necromancers, need to check out the Hall of Justice (not sure about this one and haven't committed yet) and the new ones in Vivec from Cosades. I think I really hate doing Necromancer quests, hopefully I will level up some more before having to finish them. In between I guess I will look into more bandit caves, shudder, I really hate dying.
I think I will be playing Morrowind forever!!!!!

Hi "I think I will be playing Morrowind forever!!!!!" Me too !! Hagatha .... Cheating is something I do rarely and in very short bursts. If I was so bad I needed to constantly cheat then I would get bored and give up on the game anyway. But I don't object to a very small dose of help if I do get desperate in a game I am really enjoying Cheers. Mad

WARNING: Probably a couple of Total Newbie questions but...
1. I have several expensive items - A sword worth 48k, etc. but I have not found anyone with enough cash to purchase these large amount items - Is there a trader with enough cash to buy or are these "quest" items... not to be sold?
2. Where exactly is my stash? And... can I store items (safely) in chests at foot of beds in factions I belong?
3. Can I use invisible potions (then press sneak) and steal anything and get away with it?
Thanks Bill
