Thanks, Nickie, that's a great walkthrough. I hadn't seen that one.

Something I forgot to mention about Emerald Island - There's a guy named Mr. Malwick who offers you a weapon in return for a favor for him later. I recommend you don't talk to him & DON'T take the quest. It can really screw up the game later. I tried it one time & when I did what he wanted, I could never get in to see Magnus in Castle Lambent. So I couldn't finish the game. I also lost all the gold I had in the bank. This may have been just a hiccup in my game, but I don't want to ever take the chance again.

Thanks, Nickie. That's just what I was looking for--very similar to the great M&M 8 site.

Barb, I'll try bows in the castle.

I've run into a problem. I get an error message that the game requires 30 MB of hard disk space and I have only 9 MB. I actually have 44 Gigs space. Anyone had this happen to them?

Edit--installed in a smaller partition and it is running again. Most of the castle has been cleared. I was having a hard time till I figured out how to use turn based combat.

Later on I found a patch for this problem.

Hi,

That guy Malwick can get you in trouble and I tried it one time and then never again.

I also had my money dissapear from the bank and then I never put money into the bank again in any of the games after that.

HERE is a page with good links to technical help if anyone runs into problems with this game on XP.

That thing with the money disappearing from the bank is mean, isn't it? I'm not quite sure how that fit into the story line! laugh

The money disappears only if you do the Malwick thing. If you take the quest & don't do what he wants, the whole town of Harmondale turns hostile, all the shops are closed, & you lose your money in the bank.

Putting money in the bank is great when you want to die, say you found a golem piece but you're surrounded by monsters & there's no way to get away without dying. When you die, whatever you found is still in your inventory, but your money is gone. If you had put it in the bank, you just have to go to any bank & withdraw it.

I got lost and ended up in the Barrows instead of Stone City. Glad to get straightened out because the city is a lot easier. How do I get air magic for my sorceress? Everyplace I try says you have to be a member. Can I buy a membership someplace?

Hi,

You have to visit the people in their homes and some will teach you stuff and others will let you join the guilds for a price.

Also some of the people will give you quests.

People that you see walking around might want to be hired by you to help like some have Wizard Eye or another might teleport you somewhere and so on.

Hope this helps. smile Have fun.

Pokey, you can buy membership to the Air Guild at the Bowes residence in Harmondale. It's near the stables.

Thanks, somehow I missed that house. The membership just allows you to buy spells? I still need to buy the skill. Having the skill doesn't let you buy spells unless you have a membership? I need to find some cash but I will someday be able to fly.

You can't get into the guild unless you buy a membership. Then you can buy the spells, but you can't use them unless you have the skill. You can buy air magic skill at any air guild, if the character is eligible to learn that skill. For instance, if you tried to buy air for a cleric, you wouldn't be able to. And some spells require a certain level, like Fly, I think, takes Master in air magic. You can buy the spell, but can't learn it until you are a master. Lloyd's Beacon takes Grandmaster in Water magic!

I used Fly and Lloyd's beacon in M&M 8, but I don't remember any membership. I think I've got that straight now.

I just tried stealing and got a couple items. Is it easier to steal low value items--that's what I was able to get. Can you only steal once from any shop?

I was rather discouraged by the combat early in the game but am getting into it now. There is something about the Might and Magic games that makes them fun to play.

You're right, Pokey - you didn't have to buy memberships in M&M 8. As for stealing, I never even tried to do it. I have a thief, but I only develop his lockpicking skill.

I just love the Might & Magic games. I even still play M&M 3, 4, & 5 occasionally. I'm glad you're having fun.

So Pokey and Barb - where are you guys? My little party decided to leave Barrow Downs and head to the Tularean Forests. I finally got enough gold to get three out of the four expert status in bow and my sorcerer expert status in Fire. I think we have about 10 quests now and it looks like my next stop will be Avlee to find some faries (and gold hopefully because I am broke again. Seems the virtural and real world are the same in this matter) laugh

We rescued the miners and returned to find the castle in better shape except for the rat bodies. I didn't pick them up since there seemed no value. I have some cash now so got my air magic skill.

Some questions:

Where can I get identify item skill?
What does attack on a weapon mean? The saber has attack +3 3D3+3. That sounds better than the broadsword with attack 0 3D4.

Edit---I figured out that attack is added to the stats but still don't know about the +3 after 3D3.

How do I get in the secret entrance to Fort Riverstride--the one down by the river?

I'm on the next to last (and hardest part of the game) - kill Xenofex.

Pokey, I don't see any way to get into the secret entrance unless you have Fly or Jump. I usually just go through the main entrance, since you have to fight guards in either area.

You can buy identify item at Otto's Oddities in Harmondale (across the road from the bank.

I've never understood what the stats on a weapon mean. I go by the attack stat, i.e., if it says attack+4, I figure that's better than attack+0. I rely more on my sorcerer's magic than weapons, anyway.

Gold is tight at first, but there are 2 places where you can earn 50,000 - Thom Lumbra in the Tularean Forest wants you to find 3 statues & put them on shrines. These statues are in very tough places, so I wouldn't try it until you have Invisibility. The other place is in Tatalia - Ferdinand Visconti wants you to find 3 paintings & bring them to him. One is in the Haunted Mansion in the Barrow Downs & the other 2 are in Castle Gryphonheart. The mansion is fairly easy, but not the castle! I use Invisibility for that, too.

You can earn 200,000 gold by doing the obelisks.

I thought I would have to have fly or jump. Won't have those for a while. I have been getting by enemies by running, so ran down the first stairs to the right and cleaned out the rooms and actually killed one soldier. Ran back up and down the other stairs and found the secret door. Just have to get to the vault and run out.

I have a problem I don't understand. When my character should be using a bow, nothing happens--no arrow, no damage. Later on it was working right at times.

We just cleaned out the Bandits Cave and returned the ring to Davrik. Now we're heading back to Stone City and talk to the dwarves there. I thought I had already done that but the quest to rescue the dwarves from the Red Mines hasn't appeared (I think I overwrote a save). We're at level 10 right now.

I have also won two games of Acromage laugh This is the first time that I have tried to play it - I even think I understand it now lol Only 11 more to go laugh

I've played this game several times, and I think I still don't understand Acromage! It's fun, but I had no idea why I won when I did. lol

Pokey, look at your character stat sheet & see if your bow is broken. It will be red if it is.

I don't understand arcomage either! All I do is see how much I need for the castle & try to build that up.

Syd, the quest to rescue the dwarves should appear when you finish clearing out your castle. The butler should tell you that since you've cleared out the castle, the only ones who can help you with rebuilding it are the dwarves in Stone City. He tells you to go talk to King Hothfarr. Hothfarr is the one who gives you the quest.

Barb, I thought of that but that wasn't it. They seem to be working now, but for a while I had no chance of killing anything. Finished up Fort Riverstride and heading to the bandit caves now. We are at level 9 and have some cash.

Where can I find Fire Guild membership? I have fire magic skill expert but no membership, so can't buy spells.---Later, found it. laugh

Hi all,

I LOVE Acromage!!!
I use to save the game before I started to play it and just keep reloading if I lost and that way I didn't loose much money on it. smile

It can be tricky to play but you either have to get more resorces then the other palyer or build your towers faster.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for more than one tavern. I think there were a couple of towns that had at least 2 of them.
