Maggie, Morrowind came out a few years ago. You wouldn't find it in stores but you can get it and its two expansions from places like Amazon.

It's a great game, very long and open-ended (and highly addictive). You can get completely immersed in the world and its culture. A very well conceived game, lots of fun and in my opinion one of the best RPG's ever made.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Just FYI Gamespot has a very good section on Morrowind console commands if you really do sell or lose something you need.

Mad, I saved the Gamespot info in my Favorites, let me know anytime if and when you want the link. Haha, don't want to tempt you or anything. I don't really feel the need to cheat, however I did get the skeleton key as I don't feel like working on Security right now and wanted to move ahead. I should have joined Thieves, maybe I still should since I have the dratted codebook.

Maggie57, Morrowind is quite enjoyable, just remember to save really often, if you make a bad choice, or die (which you will quite often in the beginning) you can always go back and try again. I often leave quests partially done and move on to something easier. If you can find it, do buy the Game of the Year edition which includes Tribunal and Bloodmoon, but only install Morrowind at first, reason being assassins.

I got mine with the two expansions from Interact for $19.95 plus their $4 shipping. Dave is such a pleasure to work with there. Does GB still have the Interact Logo on the lead page?

I did notice Creeper's money went up after I sold him a big bunch of stuff.

I decided to not finish that 6th House quest for now because you automatically get the corpus disease and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to anything else once I got it... I'll go back when I'm done cleaning out a few more caves and doing some more quests for the House of Reordan.

People do still deal with you when you have Corprus Disease although their disposition drops. You get the cure in the very next quest.
Click to reveal..
Once you are cured you will also be immune from disease for the rest of the game.
So it is worth it for that reason.

A weird thing happened to me with my second mage's quest, where you have to plant the fake soul gem. After Ajira asked me to do the dirty deed, Galbedir did indeed come down briefly, but I suddenly remembered that I was become rather encumbered, and had planned on selling a few things to Ajira. So I turned on my heel and sold her some things.
When I went out thereafter to plant the gem, suddenly Galbedir was back at her desk again. After some chit-chat during which she refused to budge, I decided to go on to the rat quest for the fighters, and hoped that when I returned, Galbedir would be downstairs, like she always was during my previous playthroughs.

After the rats (strange to have two rats almost kill me - me who had killed Golden Saints and Dremoras by the handful! blush I even had to down potions like mad not to have the little ratties kill me!),I also joined Sugarlips and stole her diamond for her.

Upon my return to the Mage's Guild, Galbedir now stubbornly refuses to leave her desk.
Nothing will induce her to leave, and replaying the conversation with Ajira also has no effect.

I've been thinking up wild strategies to overcome the Galbedir problem, from running all the way to Gnisis to aquire the Chameleon necklace, to cheating myself invisible, to trying to find a cheat to command her, or an item to command her, to cutting out the mages quests this time around. I realise the easiest might be to restore an earlier gamesave, but I'm already replaying a replay of a replay! crazy

Ohh, dear - and the further I carry on, the more cross I'm going to feel at restoring an earlier game!

Galbedir leaves only for that time immediately after you get Ajirra's quest. After that her permanent position is at the top of the stairs near her desk. Have you tried invisibility and sneak mode or both? Not sure if it works but it could be worth a try.

Thanks Mad, I found the mudcrab merchant and used "mark", then my amulet of Almsivi Intervention and was zapped back to Molag Mar. Once again I am on my way to Nchurdamz and halfway to Level 9. I think on my next trip back to Balmora and my stash, I will join the Thieves Guild, maybe it will push my levels up quicker.

Holy cow! How did I get to level 21 so fast! I must be killing stuff left and right.

I found that the rude and annoying woman you escort to Ghostgate is worth WAY more dead than the little "tip" she gives you. So I let an Ash Ghoul do away with her, killed him and then looted her body! Hey, she deserved it for talking to me that way...

I finally killed the woman in the sewers under the Foreign Quarter in Vivee and a couple of really mean dudes in some kind of shrine. Got a full set of Orc armor, so guess I will sell my Bonemold stuff even though it has served me well. Haven't seen any of that pretty glass stuff you guys have yet!

Draclvr, the partial set of glass armor is in the Fighters Guild in Ald'ruhn. You have to either steal the key from Percius, or lockpick the door with locked 100 (I think) or use the skeleton key which I cheated (yup I did) early on in the game. I don't always use it but I really coveted that armor, I am soooo bad.

Yep she is worth more dead isn't she and she deserved whatever she got, yappy wench. Oh yes do wear the Orc armor, I wore mine for a long time before getting the ugly assassins stuff. Did you install Tribunal and Bloodmoon yet so you can fight off the assassins? I am sure they won't trouble you much at level 21.

I gotta go look for that lady too, as soon as I finish in Nchurdamz, on my way back. I did kill a guy down in the underworks a long time ago when I was rather puny. Then I went into the shrine he was guarding and was absolutely no match for the wicked people inside. Maybe I will check them out again also. Most of the people you will find inside shrines are bad and really hard to kill, if you ask NPC's about them they will tell you that they are really bad people.

I must go and eat the dinner I cooked. hopefully that will relieve my aching head.

Or you can steal glass armour from the blacksmith at Ghostgate, if your skill is good enough.

A little trick I've learned about fighting in those Deadric shrines (like the one in the Underworks in Vivec) is to levitate (potion or spell) up to the top of the statue that is invariably there, perch myself as best I can, and shoot arrows or spells down on the enemy. In some of the shrines you can jump down onto the statue from an upper level, too.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Maggie57, there are numerous w/t's,guides, etc on the net,all you have to do is put it in a search bar, but this one is my favorite, the UHS Hints one. Morrowind Hints This one shows the maps and everything else you might need.

I don't know anything about Vista, but it plays fine on XP.

Draclvr, just wondering... have you checked if your difficulty slider is set at zero? headscratch

Keep in mind, that bonemold and Orcish armour is Medium armour, and Glass is Light armour. It is very important what your specific armour skill is, in determining how much protection a certain class of armour will give you.

This is so very important, that I will quote from the Manual: 'If your'e trained in the unarmoured skill, you may be better protected without armour, than with armour."
THAT'S how important it is. wink

Well, let me go check, Moondancer. I know most of my fights are really tough. I tend to walk between places in order to have more opportunities to kill stuff to get my point higher.

Draclvr, that could explain it, you know - especially if you run; that helps you level up your athletics and speed, even more so if you swim a lot. Remember it's not only fighting skills that level you up, anyway. Also at your level you should be encountering a lot of nasty beasties out in the open.

Btw, I messed around a bit with the armour thing, and found this link: http://www.elderscrolls.com/games/morrowind_armor.htm

They've got even better guides here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Medium_Armor

My difficulty slider is set right in the middle. I do have unarmored skill of 32 or something and medium armor of 68.

Of course, when I went in to check this stuff I just HAD to play for a few minutes! I ended up down in some creepy place that begins with a B - can't remember already. It's right by Gnissis. Boy, did I find some great stuff down there! Got a Daedric spear worth $20,000 and tons of exquisite potions. Darn, though, I've got to go to that pesky job thingy....

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out when I get home tonight.

Maggie, I have Morrowind installed on Vista and it plays fine. However, Tribunal and Bloodmoon may make the game unloadable. So try it all out first before you get too far into the game. I ended up uninstalling the expansions. Morrowind by itself works fine which doesn't make sense to me as it is older than the expansions.

I just found a merchant in one of the huts in the Zainab camp who has 9000 gold in his cash register. He doesn't give full price like Creeper but I never bother trying to get full price with Creeper anyway. I'm just too lazy and rich enough anyway. A least with this guy I can get 9000 for an item instead of settling for 5000. He buys just about everything except books. He also happens to be the mercantile master trainer. Seems fitting.

There is also a merchant in Falasmaryon propylon chamber who has 3000 gold but she doesn't buy all goods.

I finally killed that Hrelvesuu in Nchurdamz, how I don't know. I tryed many different weapons, finally I ran in at him from the opposite direction, I did have to take one of my costly potions though. My "helper" just stood there and made comments, wanted to slash her too. Went back to Hrundi, got my petty reward and am now on my way to the area where Rowan is. I will look out for that merchant while there.

I checked my stats, my light armor is at 60 and I am wearing glass, unarmored is 28, medium is 30, spear is 24 (haven't been using it long), short blade 35 and long blade 43.
