Here is something deceiving about waiting for a character's reaction to you:

I have the 80% chameleon amulet which I obtained from a miscellaneous quest north from Gnisis. If I wander into a cave with it activated I can approach anyone and talk to them. As soon as the time limit for the enchantment turns off the true colours of the character emerge and if they are unfriendly they will attack. I often levitate with the amulet activated to avoid the cliff racers.

Ah. So that is how you can get the Master Enchant Trainer to talk to you. I've never been able to work that out. I'm raising my Enchant levels by flling all of the low level soul gems I can find and recharging my weapons. I'm at level 70 in Enchant now, which is about enough to make an enchanted item once in a blue moon.
It's one of my Minor Skills, so I need to use it as much as I can.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hi all,

I have a question for you experienced Morrowind players. I am trying to rest for a night at the inn in Caldera, and some guy in the lobby keeps picking a fight with me, and I can't tell who he is or why he is fighting me. I haven't provoked this at all, and he isn't an assassin - I've been attacked by them before. Is there a way to find out why he is doing this? Also, if I kill him, I get a message that my crime has been reported! What's going on here???

That's odd.

What's his name?

If you are a member of the Thief Guild you can go to Balmora and have the bounty for the 'crime' removed, as long as you stay out of the sight of any guards.

If you aren't a member yet, stay out of the guards' way until you are. Going to jail is a bummer because they confiscate anything you have stolen, which in my case is always 90% of what I'm carrying.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, I don't remember his name - I'll return to the game and find out and let you know, and I may just make the trip to the Balmora Thieves Guild and try that. Thanks for the ideas!

*************
I'm back, and I returned to the inn in Caldera, and the guy didn't appear! So I went to Balmora and asked the guy who takes care of bounties to take care of mine, and he said I didn't have a problem. So, I'm still perplexed, but guess I'll just wait for it to happen again. Weird.

Well, I'm glad the problem went away. Every now and then wierd things happen in a game this size.

The thing to really watch out for is killing a a character that is essential to the main quest, but the game warns you when you've done that.

But at least, if you do get caught doing something that isn't 'legal,' those nice thieves will take care of it for you.

Andy, maybe you killed a friend of his?

Ah, that's possible. Well, I often sleep at Shenk's Shovel in Caldera, so I may run into the fellow again, and when I do, I'll ask him (or kill him).

Hey, I just got me the Boots of Blinding Speed (yeehaw!) and now I'm trying to find a spell that will help me with those - thanks for the tips in previous posts. And for the first time, at level 23, I was able to go in a cave and kill all the assailants there!! So I'm finally getting some heft in my attacks (and defenses).

Greart. And that's about the level at which the Goldens Saints start to appear on a Regular basis, especially in the northern half of Vaardenfell.

You know, strangely enough in this game I haven't used the Boots of BS. I upped my character's Speed stat early in the game and forgot all about the Boots. But the boots are fun, especially if you have constant effect levitation as well.

OK, now I need some help. I couldn't enchant an item successfully myself, so I went to a mage's guild and had an exquisite amulet enchanted with Constant Effect Night Eye, 0-100 pts. in 50 feet on Self. Is that correct? Cause it doesn't seem to work. I go outside, put on my Boots of BS, and I still can't see! What have I done wrong??

I'm having trouble getting the console to work. I need to add an item, but I can't seem to get the player->Additem command to work. I have the code for the item, but obviously I'm typing something in improperly.

The way I understand it, it is:

player->Additem "(item code)" #

Where the # sign indicates the number of items to add, and the arrow is made from a hyphen plus the "greater than" sign on the keybooard.

I thought I'd tried it in every different combination, but I still can't get it work. Have I got the spacing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Here\'s a link that shows what to do - does that look different than what you're doing?

Andy, the Boots of BS make you 100% blind. Night eye will not make you see when you wear the boots. Save that night eye item for when you explore dark lightless caves. You can get rid of your torches once you have constant effect nighteye. In order to use the Boots of BS you need Savior's Hide which is a great cuirass with a very high armor rating and it has a dispel magic enchantment. It is the dispel magic that over rides the blindness effect and then you can see and wear the boots and enjoy their speed. If putting on the boots and then the armor doesn't work, reverse the process by wearing the armor forst and then the boots. I can't remember which way it works but try them both and see (no pun intended). You can get the Savior's hide in the tower of Tel Fyr but you will need levitation, lockpick, and good sneak. You should be able to manage that now. Good luck. I can't play Morrowind without those 2 items.

OH, thank you Rowan! Yes, my sneak is way up there, and lockpick is great too, so I will just pick up some levitation potions and go to Tel Fry, wherever that is. Should be fun to try to find it.

I'll let you know if/when I am successful - what a blast!

Tel Fyr is on an island SW of Sadrith Mora, or, NE from the Erabenimsun ashlander camp. You'll have to levitate or walterwalk or swim there. You'll still need to levitate inside the tower. It's easiest to just learn the spell instead of buying potions. Eventually I would advise getting a constant effect levitation enchantment on an item.

Okay, another good idea! Off I go looking for a levitation spell! And waterwalk too! Yeah, I found Tel Fyr on one of my map sites, and it looks like a trek. Wanna come along? I could use the company (lol).

Well I finally finished the main quest. It wasn't as hard as I thought and I still haven't figured out what enchantments I wanted. I killed Ur pretty quick and only lost a little health when I killed the heart. I guess now I go to Mournhold. I hate having to learn all new territory.

Mornhold is actually quite small, so it's not as though you'll be exploring a huge territory -- above the surface. There's lots to do underneath the city, though, and by the end of it you'll have some really pretty armour and weapons.

I've just completed Tribunal and am about to load Bloodmoon, which I've only played once before.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good going, hagatha! When you enter the world of the 2 expansions, do you keep all the stats and equipment from Morrowind?

I need to find "Fast Eddie. Does anyone know where he spends his time? He supposedly lives in Balmora but I haven't been able to find him there.

Yes you do Rowan, everything is just a continuation of Morrowind. I finished Morrowind and got telported to Mournhold. Everything was intact.

You can travel back and forth from the two expansions, as they are just continuations of the game world. I still have the Mage Guild in Aldruhn as my home base where i keep all my Alchemy supplies and have my stash of weapons and armour and other good things.

One thing to watch out for in the expansions -- there are merchants in Mournhold that have 10K gold, which is great. Just don't sell them anything that you might want to buy back at some other time, and by that I mean armour, clothing, jewellery and possibly even weapons. They will put on the best thing you sell them, and you can never get it back unless you sell them someting better.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Eddie's house is beside Itan's, near the Eight Plates. One of the houses overlaps the other, and Eddie's house won't show up on the map.

Location! Location! Location!

Isn't that the key to a good real estate deal? Well my stronghold was built in the middle of nowhere in the ominous sounding district of Ulvirith's Grave. Dead vegetation everywhere, frequent ash storms (don't need windows because it would be impossible to keep up with cleaning them). No near transportation. And a dead body in the dungeon. At least the neighbours are quiet.

But shopping is handy as there are 4 merchants on the stronghold estate. And it comes guarded with patrolling metal centurions.

I better continue the main quest so the ash storms will stop. Then I can see what I got. lol
