If you are looking for a place to stash your stuff and rest there are two quests in Seyda Neen that will land you a residence that you can use until you find something better.

Hint: If you have spoken to the residents and selected rumors, one or two may have mentioned a missing tax collector. This can result in a little hovel of your own.

Hint 2: There is a female High Elf who tends to hang out near the bridge in Seyda Neen. Question her and she will mention a near-by cave. It's not really a quest, just a way that the developers have provided to give you a temporary residence.

If you need more info than that we can drop a few spoilers. evil

Hey thanks Trail Mystic! I HAVE been wishing for a little hideaway of my own where I can put my stuff---I'll check both of these things out and see if I can't get a little place for my Dark Elf! smile

PS Gonna try these w/out spoilers first but will be back for some if I get hopelessly lost. wink

I'm just a lazy sloppy bum, who sleeps either at the fighter's or mages' guilds, and I just stash my stuff at the different mage's guilds, preferably neatly next to the beds in the Balmora guild, but often just on the floor next to the teleport lady. Quite often, I would be overencumbered while teleporting with the Divine Intervention spell, and I would dump the excess stuff right there on the steps in front of the Wolverine Hall Divine Cult door in Sadrith Mora, where the spell teleports you to... razz

Note to catbelly: Other than in Oblivion, in Morrowind, your stuff remains forever where you put it down. It doesn't matter where you put it down - you will always find it still there upon returning. Convenient, -but conducive to untidiness... grin

Oh, and PS. - flying is the coolest thing in Morrowind! You can do it with levitation spells if your alteration is high enough, or otherwise with enchanted objects or levitation potions. After the spell 'takes', just point your cursor towards the sky, and 'walk'.
yay

EDIT: Careful to come down before the spell wears out, or you could fall to your death..... slapforehead

Hi Moondancer. Ah, flying does sound kinda cool, except for the falling and dying part. LOL! It's good to know I can leave my stuff laying around and it'll be there later. Although my inner pack rat is dying for a place to put all of it in one cozy location. (or maybe lots of them....maybe one in each city!) wink

Thanks so much for all the great info!

cat you could do what my grandson did, he killed the shop keepers and moved all his stuff in there, he even put it on the shelves. I can't put anything anywhere except the floor. I personally have my stuff in the Mages guild, Balmora, first room on the left, it is all over the floor. I have lots and lots of stuff that I can't bear to sell to Creeper and I have lots and lots of gold so I don't need the money. What I would like to know is why I can only sleep in the Mages and Fighters in Balmora, the other cities have only beds you have to pay for, or they belong to someone and you can't sleep there, not fair.

Hawka, in Sadrith Mora, you can sleep in the Fighter's guild, and in Ald'ruhn, you can sleep in either the mages or the fighter's (I sleep in both - the fighters have a nice little bedroom to your right just as you enter the guild).
The Ald'ruhn mages have two bedrooms in the passage you walk in to approach the teleportation lady.

In the Vivec Mages guild, after you have entered, take the right-hand stairs down, and on the middle passage there, is a nice bedroom with a double bed for you.

You can join the Temple, which will give you a bed in most places except Caldera. In Caldera, you can lockpick the lower bedroom (the door right in front of you when you open the door) of that female blades agent (Surane Leoriane) that Caiius refers you to, for a nice bedroom.

The only places I don't usually have a free bed to sleep in, (after joining the fighters, mages, temple and imperial cult)would be Ghostgate, most of the Telvanni towns, and the Nord village up North. smile

PS. So does your grandson not enjoy trading? lol

I ususally do what Mad does, though that can be rather difficult up North where I always manage to catch some wicked disease. I hate it up there!!

My grandson plays a totally different kind of Morrowind, actually this was when he was 10 or so, now he is "grownup" at 13 and plays FPS games and sometimes Oblivion. His theory was not to bother with quests, run around in his undies and loot, loot, loot.

Next time in Caldera I will try the lockpick and look for the right tooms in the other places. I know I can use the empty place in Seyda Neen, it just seems so out of the way and is such a hovel.

Hey Hawka. Well I have given in and killed my first shop keeper! After playing around for a few days I've decided to join the Telvanni House, and killed a trader in Tel Branora so that I could get an item for my Theive's Guild quest. Now I have a nice, Telvanni-mushroom house. LOL I feel a little guilty for killing her, BUT, the "dispose of corpse" button help that alot. ROTFLOL

Ah....being bad is so much fun!

Heh..- Cat, well if you have joined Telvanni their "rules" (or is that "non-rules"? think ) will still be fresh in your mind: "If you steal from another Telvanni, but still live, then clearly you deserve whatever you stole. Murdering your opponents by magic or treachery is the traditional way of settling disputes. If you win, then clearly your argument has more merit. You may be expelled as in any other Great House, but most Telvanni will not care or even know about it."

...so, it looks like you're fitting right in, Cat! evil rotfl

In addition to my other post on the items I always try to get as early as possible in Morrowind, there are also 4 spells that I find a must.

Click to reveal..
Mark, Recall, Divine Intervention, and Almsivi Intervention information on them can be found here

I find these spells to be life savers in this game.

Anyone on Vista figure out how to enable screenshots, it just won't let me change the ini file like I could in XP. I googled it and tried taking off the read only attribute and it gets all huffy. I was able to copy the files to documents and change it there, but when I print screen the game tells me screenshots isn't enabled. From what I read on the forums, this is a Vista issue so I might just have to live with it.

Meanwhile I have just gotten an assignment from Fighters in Vivec so I am off to Seyda Neen to kill the tax person. Can I do it? Is there a reason why I shouldn't? I vaguely remember a discussion about this some time back.

I had to laugh with you Mad, I'm new to Morrowind but already I'm obsessed. Not to that degree (but only because hubby has the other computer with him and I have only one pc right now), but to the degree that I think about the game during the day when I'm not playing and wondering where I'll go next, how I'll find my quest that I'm looking for, etc. etc. smile It's so much fun, I'm really glad that I found it. smile

Cat who is VERY bad and enjoying it so much!

Hi catbelly36 smile

I'm really an Adventure game player and definitely not one of the best fighters blush but since getting lured to the Darkside some years ago, I have dipped my toe into the waters quite a few times !!

And I truly have to admit that Morrowind is only the latest in a now quite long list of "possible" obsessions lol

Cheers.

I was playing a short while last night and went ahead and did in the taxwoman and the guard. First I paid my fines and lost all my stolen armor, so I replayed, killed the guard first, found a place to rest until healed, went back and killed her. I must admit I am not too pleased with myself since I struck first, so I may just go back to a save and wipe out that section of my lowly life. First I want to see what I am given for a reward, did get lots of points with that fight though. devil

If I have to kill someone, I always taunt them them till they succumb to the temptation of attacking me first. Depending on my mage skills, I used to find "Frenzy Humanoid" a particularly useful spell for this kind of thing... grin
