I think Frogwares is broke. I downloaded the three files, but there was no .exe file. The files were:

...tg_e-1.bin
...tg_e_2.bin
...tg_e_2(1).bin

I will have to contact them also.

I now note after checking the download site that the files listed for download are:

part 1/3
part 2/3
part 2/3

I did not notice that when I downloaded. I just clicked on each of the downloads.

Keys are the series of 5 numbers and letters that you have to type in to activate the game. It is also called the activation code. There are supposed to be a series of 5 letters and numbers that Frogwares sends you in your e-mail when you purchase the game. You are supposed to type the letter and number combinations in each of the 5 boxes and then the game will be activated for you to play. However, when I tried to type in my code, only 4 letter and number combinations will fit in the boxes. I downloaded the game twice, both on my desktop and my laptop, but nothing worked and I'm waiting for Frogwares to check and see what the problem is.

I installed my game from the "Download Manager" button and also downloaded the other 3 files (2 of which are part 2 and none of which is Part 3), and the game seemed to download O.K., but I'm stuck now on the activation code problem that I mentioned in the above paragraph.

Also, I e-mailed them about the Backup CD game mentioned in my e-mail--I sent them copies of all the e-mails they sent me--and am waiting on their reply about that.

Thanks Call1e,

I had an activation code but there was never a place to put it (no boxes). I heard back again today from Frogwares and all the email asked was whether I had downloaded all of the files. I have told them repeatedly in other emails that I have tried to download all of the files but they wouldn't all download or when they did appear to download, the game asked me to insert a disc.

I didn't have a Part 3 either. I had a Part 1 and two downloads that said Part 2/3. There was not a Part 3. The Download Manager wouldn't work. It kept taking me back to the original download screen. I also couldn't click on the button to find out more info about the back-up CD because it didn't work either.

I have been anxious to start the game but
If we can't get it resolved soon I will just ask for a refund and forget it.

I'm hoping they will put in on a CD that I can buy at Wal-Mart like I did the remastered version of the Awakened. That might work better anyway.

I heard back from Frogwares today and they suggested I re-download the game. I tried that, and even purchased a 2nd copy, but they both still would only type in 4 letters and numbers in the activation code instead of 5.

Regarding the CD backup copy of the game, they said that was a technical mistake by the server on their site, and that there is no way to purchase a backup CD of this title.

I have requested they refund my money back for both orders, and also asked them if the game will be available on CD or DVD for purchase in a retail store (such as Wal-Mart) like the remastered version of the Awakened was that I purchased at Wal-Mart a few months ago. At this time, I haven't recieved a reply, but I will post here if I hear back from the about my refund or the availability of the game on CD or DVD in stores.

I'm curious as well - I reinstalled one of these for replay and received the infamous Activations Exceeded Message -

Great games, lousy activation system for legitimate owners.

If I didn't think they were one of the best set of adventure game developers, I'd quit purchasing them.

Call1e,

I could never get the game to download and like you, I requested a refund and wanted to know if the game would be available in retail stores.

They did issue me a refund but I haven't heard back from them about purchasing it in a retail store. Very disappointing because I have been looking forward to playing this game in the remastered format.

Jenny100 & InlandAZ:

I had an e-mail back from Frogwares today saying that they will give me my refund for both games (the original, and the 2nd one that I downloaded trying to see if there was a problem on the download end that wouldn't let me type in the 5 letter/number combinations in the activation code, but only 4 letter/number combinations in the boxes) in about 5 days.

They also said that they don't have any information about when or if the remastered game will be available in retail stores--they can only furnish information about downloadable games.

At least I'm glad that others were having this same problem and that something wasn't wrong with my computer! It's too bad, though, that they can't make a patch or something to fix these problems, though, so everyone can play the game taht wants to.

Hopefully it will be in retail stores later this summer like the remastered version of the Awakened was a few months ago.

Thanks,
Call1e

Thanks for letting us know, Call1e.
I hope we'll see a disc version too.

I wonder if everyone is getting this problem with not enough spaces for the code in the activation box. Even if only some people are getting the problem, it's something that needs to be fixed.

Frogwares told me they checked the activation code and didn't find any problems, but something is obviously wrong when everyone can't type in all the letters and numbers in the boxes.

Hopefully, when and if a disc version comes out, it won't have all of these awful bugs!

Call1e,

I heard from someone at Frogwares who told me that the game (with disc) will definitely be available in retail stores but he didn't say when. That is good news since several of us either couldn't get the game to download properly (me) or couldn't get the activation code to work (you). If I hear anymore about the disc version or see it in the store, I will post here.

Thanks. I was in my local store today and the game wasn't in yet, and they didn't know when it was going to come in, either.

Hopefully, it will be out soon, so I'll just keep looking and waiting!

I got my refund in from Frogwares today for both games. Just wanted to let everybody know. Now, I'm just waiting for the remastered version of Arsene Lupin/Nemesis to become available in stores.

Any word yet on when "Sherlock Holmes vs. Arsene Lupin/Nemesis Remastered" will be available on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM to purchase in stores or online?
