I thought I'd tackle Dracula 3 again since I've found a saved game for the part that always defeated me - yes, the pentagram puzzle. But I have no clue where to put it.

There's no saved games folder for it in My Documents, I don't see anything in the game folder itself except something that says Save.tmp in the data files but that can't be it since I have already saved 3 times in the game. I tried searching my computer. Nothing. So, does anyone have any idea where the saved games for Dracula 3 might be?

Gil.

I'm running Windows 7, but your should be similar if you're running XP.

Mine are located in the install folder (XP is probably in C:\Program Files\Dracula 3) - there are a set of sub-folders named Users\Profile(x) where x is the profile you selected when you started the game.

You should find them as: save.nnn in the profile(x) folder.

Edit -

Actually there's an easy to locate the install folder (at least on Windows 7) - Click the start button and peruse to the program item for Dracula 3. Right click the Read the readme entry and select properties.

Mine reads: "C:\Users\InlandAZ\Dracula 3\Readme.txt"

This is the locations of my saves.

I'm also running Windows 7, InlandAZ, but there is no sub-folder named Users/Profile. I'm ready to bang my head on the monitor. I installed to Program files (x86) if you think that has anything to do with it. Under datas, there are cd1, cd2, CMN and LOC. CMN is an install file and video files. LOC appears to be my location (US) and more video files. the cd1 &2 files all end in .bf.

There are a couple of places it could have stored the save games if you installed to Program Files. You'll have to enable Show Hidden folders to look.

Click Start, Control Panel and select Appearance and Personalization. Under Folder Options select show hidden files and folders. enable it by clicking the radio button, then press apply.

Click Start, Computer - double click the C drive and look in Program Data (most likely Dracula 3).

If it's not there...

Press the Windows Logo Key+R and enter Shell:AppData and press enter (this is the Run Command). On the address bar press the arrow that follows "Data" - if could be located in any of the 3 sub-folders (Local, Local Low or Roaming).

If you install to your user folders (under your UserID) the saves should be located exactly like my own.

Windows 7 protects the Program Files directory - it can only be written to by the installer (or if the program is elevated with Administrator privileges).

Edit again -

I'm reinstalling again, and just noticed that the game installs to: C:\Microids\Dracula 3 - let's see where the saves go this time... hang on one more time...

Okay -

Mine are stored in: C:\Microids\Dracula 3\Users\Profile1 -

You're running the 64 Bit edition of Windows 7 aren't you - I'm not running that version, so I don't know where they'd be stored.

Maybe someone else here has the same and can find them for you.

I'm going to uninstall the game, reinstall and let it put itself wherever it wants to and see if that helps. I tried everything you suggested (I run as Admin and my computer has orders to show all hidden files and folders) and for all this computer (an HP) is concerned, there are no such things as saved games for Dracula 3.

Incidentally, when I follow the arrow after Data, there are no subfolders (Local, Local Low or Roaming). It immediately brings up a list of program folders...all but the ones I'm looking for, either Dracula 3 or Microids.

I've had it for tonight, I'm going to bed! But I really appreciate your going to all that trouble, InlandAZ!

Gil.

InlandAZ,

Since you were so very helpful last night, I thought you ought to know that I did reinstall the game. It put itself in C\Microids\Dracula 3.

After I made my first save, I went hunting in the master file and found a Users folder. There was the saved game under my profile.

Go figure. <g> I guess it pays not to argue with the game when it tells you where it wants to install.

Gil.
