I get past William easily, sometimes get near the pink thingy, but always get caught, tried various routes, but they have all failed up to now!

I found that I would run and hide, then run and hide, but for the last part, just run, if you crouch he will find you. Actually I spent a lot of time in this game just crouching down, watching and waiting, trying to get my timing. I didn't bother grabbing the pink thing on the other side of the rocks. My reflexes aren't that great either so didn't chance it. My grandson did it in two shakes, with grabbing the pink thing, then ran and grabbed the wallet. I would always panic and get stuck between the rocks. I had him try just to see if it could be done.

I think I only got that big pink crystal twice - the rest of the time I crouched and hid a couple of times and then made a mad dash to the wallet. Timing for when the troll is turned around is important!

Thanks for help, I, at least, got through! I am now trying to deal with the monster in the cave, I tried to kill the small ones first, but the adult one keeps killing me!

That was a tough fight for me the first time too, Terry. If you kill the little things, it will make the big one mad and he'll rear up. That's when you run in and whack the dickens out of his underbelly. Run out and the next time he rears up, get back in and whack his underside again. It should only take about 3 or 4 tries. Make sure you break open all the rocks with the blue circles on them.

Make sure you grab the mushrooms for your health too, running away from things is a big part of this game.

You're going to have to tell me more specifically where you are... There is more than one place in the game where the evil minions come out of the ground.

The easiest save will be to take me to when I get Sting (sword) if that's possible - thanks.

OK, I have a save right after the big monster is dead. You would have to throw rocks at the snake things and kill them (pretty easy as there are more rocks on one of the pedestals). Then you could go around and grab all the loot and get the potion for the elf and save her.

The next part is mostly jumping around on ropes over some rushing water, jumping through the waterfall into a cave to get some more loot and getting to the other side for more loot etc.

If just need one after killing the big monster, I'd suggest using that save to help you get used to using your rope skills in the next part. If you'd rather not, I have one after you get everything in the water part and just need to jump onto some tornado looking moving platforms and get to another passageway that leads you out.

Draclvr, Regretfully I have had to take Hobbit off my machine after I uninstalled and installed about six times to get your saves to work! I get your saves on my load page and get the pictures relevant, but when I try to load them it crashes. The saves are all in My Documents. When I use my own files they work as they should do no probs.

Thank you very much for sending them.

Terry

Well, that's too bad. If the files are showing up with the picture, there shouldn't be a problem. I know they've worked for others on XP systems, but for some reason your Vista computer just doesn't like my saves!

Oh well, we tried!

I haven't tried moving my XP saves to Vista yet, I can if you want me to Corana. The saves I did move that worked fine were from Morrowind. I haven't even finished the game myself, maybe this will give me the incentive to do so.

Thanks Hawkavonpuka, Probably won't work, but if you're willing, please send me your saves: Chapter 3 roundabout at the end when you get the sword!

Thanks

Hawka, how about if I send you the same saves I sent Terry and see if they work on your Vista machine? Did you ever find your disk?

Go ahead and send Draclvr, I don't think I kept anything that far back anyway. Yes my game disk was hiding in the back row of games on the computer desk. I already installed it and played to the first save in the beginning. It might be a "naming" thing, the problem is to see what they actually are on the XP, I will have to reinstall here also. Otherwise I just get that dumb Windows file look and it says Windows can't open. I will work on it a bit later or tomorrow when I don't have distractions.

OK. I'll resend the email with the saves and you can see what happens on your Vista computer.

I sent one of my XP saves to myself, opened it on Vista and it loaded just fine, unfortunately it is way too far in advance for Corana to use. I will wait and see what happens with Draclvr's saves. It is not the easiest thing to get them into the correct folder though from email, I think a flash drive would be better. I had to download the save, since Windows doesn't know how to open it. Then I moved it to Documents, of course it went in it's own folder. Then I opened Documents/TheHobbit and dragged the new folder into it, the new appears. I started the game, it shows in my saves in the game I click on it to load it and it does.

When I get Draclvr's saves I will do the same with hers and see what happens. If they work fine I will try resending them to you Corana. I still think you need to try to play it with our help, it gets more difficult in the higher levels. Once you get more proficient it will become easier. I should talk, I didn't finish it yet.

Edit: Drac do you remember the name of the chapter where Corana wants the save? I found some more on a flash drive.

Just sent them, Hawka. It's Troll-Hole. I'm going to assume he's having a problem killing the big monster in the cave so he can get the Healing Potion for Lianna, the injured elf.

The saves I sent are right after I killed the monster, but you still have to run around and collect all the loot, get the Health Potion and kill the snaky things.

The other two are one with most of the rope jumping and loot collection done except for jumping to the tornado looking rocks and getting the big key. And the other one is after I got the key and all you have to do is grab the green rope to get across to the way out.

Corana, I just send you the saves from my Hotmail account, check to make sure they didn't go into your junk mail. They worked fine on my Vista laptop, no crashing. Let me know how it goes.
