I am playing Rhem 1 on Win 7, from the Rhem Trilogy disc, . When I went to save, it took me to Documents and I wasn't sure how to go about saving. Anyone help?

I'm just guessing since I haven't played RHEM on Windows 7. But maybe it's giving you the opportunity to create a save folder? or browse to a folder where you want to keep the saves.

I did create a game save folder but still don't know how to save.

When you say it "took you to Documents" does it give you a place to type in the name of a save?

It's been too long since I played the first RHEM. The only RHEM save screens I remember are the ones with the red and green arrows for save slots.

If no one has answered by the time I get back home tonight, I'll try reinstalling my RHEM game to see if I can figure out what you're seeing.

That is the problem. There is no place to type in the name of a save. I have e-mailed Lace Mamba, so hope they can tell me.

I've installed the GotGame version of RHEM.

I press Control-S to Save, and this is the screen that comes up
http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/2292/picture1sa.png

I type the name of my save, which I'm calling
StartSave
in the box to the right of where it says File Name.
I've outlined the box in green in this screenshot
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/5715/picture1ad.png

When I go to load the game, the save appears as a txt file in the folder where I saved it. It adds the .txt extension automatically to whatever I typed in as the name of the save (which in this case was StartSave). I choose the save by highlighting it, as in this screenshot
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3699/picture2jn.png
and clicking where it says Open.

Does the process look different in the Trilogy version of the game that you have?

It does look different in Trilogy.

RHEM

QUIT RETURN SAVE

When I hit save I get taken to Documents. I see no way of adding a save for the game. There has got to be a way.

I just looked at the Readme file. It says for save: Strg save. What is Strg?

The Strg key on a German keyboard is the equivalent of the Control key on a US keyboard.

When you say you get "taken to Documents," do you get the same box as in my screenshots?

I can't help unless I have some idea of what you're seeing and what you mean by "taken to Documents." If you could take a screenshot and upload it to some place like photobucket or imageshack, I might be able to see what's going on. Here are instructions (based on Ana's post) for taking a screenshot and uploading it:
Quote:
1. Take a screenshot:

a. Open Paint - click on start/all programs/accessories/Paint (you can access by alt-tab while most games are running, just remember the timer will still run)

b. Open the screen in the game that you want to copy.

c. Click the Prnt Scn button on your keyboard (Located in the upper right)

d. Close game if it's timed or Alt/Tab to the paint program and click on Edit/Paste

****************

Post a link to the photo. Please, in order to save bandwidth, do not post the picture in your post, just the link. To do so, you will need to host the picture on a website like Photobucket, which is free and easy to use.

1. Putting your screenshot on GameBoomers for help:

a. Add your photo on a site like Photobucket

b. Use the "full reply" on GameBoomers when posting

c. copy the direct link line from under your photo and click on the first (upper left) icon above the reply box.

d. Paste the link into the box and click ok. A new Box will come up. In that box you will type the description you want to appear on the board. Click ok.

Photobucket is at http://photobucket.com
Imageshack is at http://imageshack.us/
Either one would work as a place to upload screenshots.

Or if you're using your Windows 7 computer, use the Snipping Tool to grab a screenshot. I pinned mine to my start menu. It saves the screenshot as a .jpg file in your Pictures folder. Then follow the rest of Jenny's directions.

Jenny, here is what I get. Nothing like you get and I can't find any way of saving. The save as at the upper left is grayed out.

What happens if you click on the Game Saves folder?

That's weird. It says
Save as...
in the upper left corner, but no place to save.

Have you tried typing in something even though you don't see a place to type? Does it react to that at all?

One thing you could try is to create an empty save.txt file using notepad (open Notepad, and Save it as save.txt without typing anything in it). Then see if the game allows you to save in that save.txt file, and then try loading the save to test if it was successful. If that works, you could try creating a series of save files (save01.txt, save02.txt, save03.txt, etc.) and use those to save the game in.

Otherwise, I'm not sure why it's not bringing up the right interface to save with. If you haven't tried it already, you could try right-clicking the game shortcut and choosing "Run As Administrator." Or you could try compatibility mode to see if either of those gives you an interface that allows you to save.

I will try some of those suggestions tomorrow. Also thought about loading it on my XP and see what it does. I did try typing something in and I had no luck. I have not gotten a response from Lace Mamba.

Got it Jenny. I went into notepad, saved it as a tex file. Now when I bring up save in the game, I just have to type in my save name: Ex: Beginning.txt hit enter and it's done. Don't have to create any more files in notepad. yay

Thanks for your help.
