Thank you, Jenny. Good to hear your impressions of the game. I'll be checking it out pretty soon but will expect to be somewhat bemused by the story. I did see a few comments to this effect on the Big Fish forums as well. It sounds interesting, though. smile

If you're wondering about the bonus chapter, it's about getting rid of the Curse on the Severed Heart itself -- something that is practically ignored in the rest of the game. The bonus chapter supposedly takes place about 2 years after the events in the rest of the game. You meet a new character -- the now old and bedridden Cyclops who created the curse after his family was slaughtered. I think this is the first time I've met a Cyclops in a game since Odyssey: Search for Ulysses.

An invent-terry sounds more alluring than either an invintree or a plain old inventory, both of which smack of warehouses with metal shelves piled high with screwdrivers, pliers, ladders, and claw hammers, the staples of adventure games but not objects that spark vivid and fantastic images in the mind's eye. Come to think of it, an invent-terry might be something like an imaginarium.

I am liking this game much more than I expected to and tolerating the HOG scenes with good grace.

I agree. The accent sounds phony. But I am not British. What do our British friends think of the accent?

Heads up: there is a glitch. I solved a puzzle but am unable to move forward. I looked on the BFG forums and several others have the same problem. I want to kick myself when I buy something before checking for bugs.

I am aware of this glitch. Not everyone is experiencing it but that is one reason I was holding off on purchasing the game. Good to mention it here. wave

The game seems to have only this one linear quality. I restarted and continued in expert mode (sparkles annoy me). When I entered the stable yard and found the shadowlock kiddos didn't know their names, I immediately searched for the hidden symbols until I had all of them and solved the logic puzzle instead of going into the barn or anywhere else. In short, I think this is one puzzle that can't be encountered then returned to. It's a glitch but can be played through if you follow the exact order in the guide, so you have to look at the guide, not my favorite thing to do.

Ok I have now played the demo, and I am British grin The accents are ok except for that darn word in-ven-tory - I dont think anyone in the whole world pronounces it like that. Having said that, I am not enamoured with the acting voices.

But on the other hand, I do like this game....but not enough to buy my first CE grin

I've heard it pronounced that way before in another game -- by a guy, so it isn't the same voice actor. In-VENT-ery.

What about the rest of Edwina's speech?
Is her accent off on any other words?

No, not really - I am afraid that's more or less how we speak, although not in such a lifeless tone smirk

Jenny, I just read this on the Big Fish forums in regards to the bonus section. I can't say for sure, but I think this note is probably from one of the game developers:

Quote:
The bonus content in Margrave: The Curse of the Severed Heart is set after the next Margrave game (margrave 4). The images you see at the start (while Edwina is talking) are in fact scenes from the next game. So the background story behind the bonus content will make more sense after you play the next game.

The bonus content for this game is designed to be a mini adventure in its own right, and also to give an exclusive insight into what's to come in the Margrave saga.

Thought you (and other players of the CE) might be interested in this. smile
