An Introduction to the Environment Art of Guild Wars 2 Haven't seen much of the asura or the sylvari. The sylvari have supposedly been resigned but the new art hasn't been revealed yet. So I'd like to see asura and sylvari of various professions in action. Not sure which ones should be out of character and therefore not used by NPC asura or sylvari.

Sylvari as well. 90 Facts about Guild Wars 2 - not an official article and some of the facts are a bit off. For example the point about warriors using rifles and bows is a bit misleading, warriors can use longbows but not shortbows. And while rangers of different races do have three different pets to chose from at start arenanet hasn't said a human can't eventually charm a devourer (one of the charr options for first pet) or a charr a dog (one of the human options for first pet). We know what the possible first pet for charr ranger and human ranger but not norn, asura or sylvari. Charr ranger my chose one pet from Devourer (a scorpion like monster with 2 tails), Stalker (a large wild cat), Drake (large reptile) Human ranger my choose one pet from Dog (only one seen so far is a Krytan Drakehound which looks like Marmaduke), Moa (an ostrich like bird), or Bear (I think it was black bear in the demo) Norn have 4 primary totem animals and most people assume norn rangers will be able to choose from them bear, raven, snow leopard and wolf but that would be 1 more option than other races get

http://www.guildwars2.com/en/contests/video-contest/ - Arenanet is having a contest, submit your video on why people should play Guild Wars 2 for a chance to win a trip to Arenanet where you can play the demo Search youtube for "Become a Guild Wars 2 Ambassador" or "Guild Wars 2 contest" to see some of the entries. I don't have one there, yet.

I have some ideas. I have to figure out how to use my headphone microphone to record audio, cause I don't have a video camera with sound. My favorite entry so far just uses clips from GW2 videos and has the woman doing a voice over. She's from Germany so she has a thick accent but she's understandable. I think one of the rules is dialogue has to be in English. I've seen one video that has no voices at all, just text. I saw one video that's going to get disqualified because it used somebody's music, you can't use copyrighted materials. Arenanet does allow using their video and audio, including music but no other copyrighted works.

I made two test videos for the GW2 contest. I can of course only submit one. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Not sure which one to submit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz47o94XJcI - voice over http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v13S4ojfl7s - text only I'm probably my own worst critic. Made the second one because I didn't like the sound of my voice, even after 7 or 8 retries. And yes that's me in my Renaissance festival costume (which I hadn't worn in years). It would look better with the cloak but I was over heating with out, with it I'd have ended up with heat stroke. And all those weapons are in my collection. Most are just displays wouldn't work well in real combat. The sword is probably the exception. Because of the 1 minute time limit I had to leave off daggers and my staff.

I like with the voice, but I like the dialogue from the text.....so how bout voicing that dialogue? Unless I'm more tired than I think and I missed a line or two of the voiced one? I thought on the text one there is an extra line about melee not being your style. I like it but I don't think it's in the voiced one, is it?

The text one does have more dialogue, especially at the end. I thought of trying to put the last text screen in the voice over one since I don't think I can say all that in time.

Video: City of Lion’s Arch - video is at bottom of the blog, the music is the same music you'll hear in Guild Wars: Prophecies at Lion's Arch The City of Lion's Arch - video came first then they posted the blog, which did not initially have the video on it Four out of five Destiny's Edge members can be briefly seen in the video, Caithe the sylvari seems to be missing, in fact there do not seem to be any sylvari. This is probably due to the sylvari being reworked and Arenanet not ready to reveal the new sylvari look. Lion’s Arch: Building the Heart of the City - another blog entry, on designing GW2 cities in general and Lion's Arch in particular Video contest entries due tomorrow. Results posted the 26th. So many good entries I don't know how they are going to pick 17 (2 grand prizes, 2 first place, 3 second place, 10 honorable mentions).

Poor Martin. While he's gone from Arenanet's headquarters in Washington state, visiting his home country of Germany, things change. So when in one of his video interviews he states that he does not think walking will be in Guild Wars 2 at least not to start with, he doesn't know he just made a mistake. All the previous videos showed characters running, no walking. Then the Lion Arch video comes out and characters are walking. Martin gets back to Washington to learn the news that some one else from Arenanet has confirmed that walking is now in Guild Wars 2. In his defense, Martin Kerstein is not a developer, but a community manager.

Guild Wars 2 preview Interesting article despite the errors: Rangers do not have guns, so he must have been playing a warrior The trolls were actually ogres The machine guns were gun turrets, no machine guns in GW2 The Lion throwing a fireball is a charr (guardian) sending out an orb of light Race names in GW2 are both singular and plural so need need to add s to norn, norns My guess for next profession is the final scholar, mesmer. The mesmer was unique to Guild Wars 1 I can't imagine Guild Wars 2 not having it, besides we're already told the human queen and her head of security are both mesmers. I have no idea how they're going to choose winners for the contest. Lots of good videos. Some people even ran around outside in costume.

Introducing the Engineer - the official 7th profession reveal Other sites on the new profession: New Guilds Wars 2 profession revealed: the tinkering Engineer! Guild Wars 2: Engineer - Interview mit Eric Flannum und Jon Peters (english) Guild Wars 2 Interview (PC) Guild Wars 2's explosive seventh class: The Engineer [GW2] New World Profession – Engineer Just as the guardian profession started with humans and was later adapted by other races, the engineer was developed by charr and adapted by other races. My guess is, engineer would be the profession for which there are no sylvari NPCs. My opinion: It doesn't fit the fantasy setting to have a character that can use flamethrows, mines and grenades, they may as well have kept the commando. And it anticlimatic to reveal the last new profession before the last returning profession. Now we know last one is mesmer. No surprise there. And they broke the pattern. Should have been adventurer, scholar not adventurer (thief), adventurer (engineer).
