Hi everyone. I don't know if I've posted about this before but if I have, bear with me. LOL (Feels like the minute I hit 40 my memory started to drain--sigh)

I have all of the Elder Scrolls games that came out before Morrowind and I am really dying to play them, but to be honest, I'm intimidated by DOSbox and learning how to use DOS all over again. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to play these games without having to use DOSbox? I know that recently some older games similar to these have cropped up at GOG and Steam and those sites have DOSbox run automatically for you once you install the games, but after writing to both of those sites to ask about including the Elder Scrolls games, I came away with only "We can't discuss what games will be added in the future".

Anyway, I am hoping that they will be added to those websites someday but in the meantime I feel kind of stuck. I'd love any advice or ideas you guys might have.

Thanks so much,
Tracy smile

If you have 64-bit Windows 7, there won't be any way of playing a DOS game outside of an emulator. 64-bit Windows will not run 16-bit code, and DOS uses 16-bit code. Even GOG uses DOSBox, though they may configure it so you don't see the DOSBox interface when you start the game.

If you want help with DOSBox, Inland and other members are a lot better at configuring it than I am. But don't hesitate to ask.

Most of the learning curve with DOSBox can be avoided by using a front-end like D-Fend Reloaded (which can be downloaded from the DOSBox web site).

If you're curious about a specific game, and want to know if it will play, visit their compatibility page -
