Thank you oldman and Annie I was hoping someone would say it is more like Morrowind than Oblivion And I'm getting more and more tempted to buy it - even if I can't play it now and will have to wait for my next computer

Hi again everyone. I'm having such a ball I can't even tell you! OMG! I have fallen so in love with the town of Solitude that I'm dying to figure out what I have to do in the meantime so I can buy a house and live there forever. LOL SIGH!!!!! Anyway, I wanted to post to also ask a question, along with my wild cheer-leading about the game. Do you guys know if you can put your stuff into chests and stuff? I just bought the house in that first town near Dragonreach (forgot the name) and I have storage but am not sure how to get my items INTO the chests and stuff. I'd love any help you can give me---thanks! Tracy, worn out from playing, finally going to bed. LOL

Tracy, I just used "E" to open the chests in my house and then used "R" to store the items, or in the case of my ingredients, I used "store all." Is that what you are asking? You can also have your house carl hold stuff for you when the are "following" you.

This game is so strange, it's like Elder Scrolls meets Uru.

Marie, it is rated M for Mature. I have seen bodies impaled on stakes in one location and the beginning shows a prisoner being beheaded. I'm sure there are other reasons, I just haven't found them yet.

Hey L4L when your kittycat gets famous they will all love her. It was the same in Ob but she showed'em. What did you name her - my hero is Brutus. Your son is correct about the giants. I picked a fight with one and ended up squashed under his big foot. Right now I'm trying to dispatch a dragon with a little sword and no magic. Joined the Imperial Legion but if I can't get around that dragon I will join the companions and level up a bit more. Finally made Level 8.

Hi Looney and everyone. Thanks for that--that's exactly what I needed. It would help if I would read my game manual sometimes, but I'm always too eager to get into the game and then miss basic stuff like this. LOL Tracy

Hi all,
Well I've read the manual completely and it is really skimpy on details. Anyway I am dual weilding and have two decent swords but when I go into inventory to look at them they show the damage and then next to it there is a number in red and in parenthisis with a minus sign in front of it like (-9). I would assume that the weapon needs some kind of repair or something. In morrowind I would just go to the armorer and pay him to repair the weapon but I don't know what to do in this game.
Plus the book says in order to enchant an item I need a learned enchantment, a soul gem and an equipable item. But it doesn't say how one goes about enchanting the item once you have the necessary stuff.

Oldman: There are enchanting tables scattered about. I happened upon one quite by accident in Dustmans Cairn, a fighters guild quest - also alchemy tables. Be sure to have a filled soul gem or an item you can destroy. There might be other ways to enchant too.
Also the gameplay difficulty can be changed . Go to systems - pick out gameplay - adjust difficulity. I don't know what it is for PC but PS you hit start button.
And for now Byebye reality hello fascination.

Hi ya Oldman, yes the manual doesn't tell one much. I too have seen the numbers, but don't know what they mean. Will ask one of my sons.
Edit: According to Mr Google, weapons don't need repairing in Skyrim. I think the minus signs indicate that possible damage change?
As Yankee says, you just stand at an enchantment table and push "e" on the Pc. Then you click on the item you'd like to enchant, then on the enchant you'd like to use, and then on your filled soul gem. And then on "R" I believe.
Once you've enchanted the name of the item won't reflect the change, but the item description will show the change.
To get enchants, you use the enchant tables to disenchant enchanted items. That destoys the item but you learn the enchant.
I've been using the enchant table at Dragonsreach but they seem to be available in most cities and even in the occasional odd area.

I did a quick google search and come up with this: http://www.destructoid.com/esrb-skyrim-has-excessive-drinking-heart-whores-211783.phtmlA quote: As players engage in melee-style combat, some sequences are highlighted by slow-motion effects, particularly for decapitations. Large blood-splatter effects also occur during combat, and some environments are stained with blood or body parts (e.g., heads impaled on spikes). Some sequences allow players to injure/kill nonadversary characters, including prisoners chained to a wall; they scream in pain amid splashes of blood or fire.
As the game progresses, the dialogue and on-screen text contains references to sexual material (e.g., “. . . all the whores your heart, or any other organ, desires,” “She . . . raped the men as cruelly as Bal had ravished her,” and “Remember when you thought [he] was . . . intent on making you . . . into his personal sex slave?”). Whether you think a 15-old is Mature enough to play this game is up to you, or ultimately, the parents. For some reason, this is PEGI 18... Here's the link to the ESRB-rating used in the US: http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=31575And here's the link to PEGI's rating: http://www.pegi.info/en/index/global_id/505/?searchString=skyrimIf you're still in doubt there's plenty of gameplay videos on yotube; I'll also point you this thread at rpgwatch.com http://www.rpgwatch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15406Here a snip from the thread: I did something I have never done in the TES series, I ran from a dungeon. Not just ran, but ran screaming and then when I got out my character went into the fetal position and wouldn't stop saying, "There's no place like home. There's no place like home." Happy gaming all edit: PEGI is the rating for games we use in Europe.

Thank you Looney4labs and Yankee Clipper. I think I understand it now. Now I have to find some items to unenchant and get some soul gems filled. I have Azara's Star which I believe can be used over and over again.

Speaking of patches, this game for me has been running surprisingly smooth. I've had a total of four crashes since I started playing it over a week ago, which seems like a miracle after the amount of crashes I had with New Vegas. I've noticed little things here and there, like my house in Solitude. One of the doors stays locked, even when you have the key.
Great game though, all in all. I've spent 30 hours so far. Would've been more if I didn't have to go to work. *grumbles*

I'm afraid to post this, but it's run like a dream for me. Now son has had crashes which is interesting as his is the newer of the two machines.

Guess what!! I'm a werewolf - yippee - only once a day but better tnan nill. Already have shredded 2 meanies - they won't kill anymore werewolves hahaha
Enchanting: on 2nd thought do you need a filled gem if you destroy an artical? This enchanting is much easier than M'Wind and Ob.
We have 10 pages for this game already.

Woooo Hooooo Yankee, congratulations! You don't need a filled soul gem to Disenchant, but you do need one to actually enchant. You won't get one when you disenchant if that is what you were asking.

Hey Yankee---I'm one too! I haven't yet learned how to shift into that form and then back to my "human" self, but I'm looking forward to trying. btw--I'm in the Imperial Legion, but am dying to join the Dark Brotherhood (no pun intended) so I might be seeing you, Oldman, soon. Actually Looney4labs I am an imperial. That screen shot shows me with a mask that increases my lockpicking and sneak skills. You can see me in all my glory here without my mask. I also have dual weild and have upgraded two blades, Nightingale and a Glass blade. Both blades are really cool. I just killed my first person on the Dark Brotherhood and got discovered by the guards so had to run away but evidently the bounties don't carry over into other towns like in Morrowind and Oblivion because the next town I ran to the guards didn't chase me.

Has anyone gotten married yet? Or are going to give it a try? I was thinking I would try it at some point. My character was giving a guy in the Companions the eye today when she met him.
