Hi Snowmoon and anyone else trying to get through this interesting freeware game.

Ok this is where I keep ending up. I have that poor child's body with me - I am at the beach. I can't bury her in the sand and I know we are supposed to go to that cave ahead, but it's dark. I see the driftwood - but it's too heavy and I won't lay my burden down. I wonder if we are supposed to get some items in the house or someplace earlier.

Just FYI for those who haven't downloaded the game, it's free and we didn't kill anyone - but we will be presumed to have done it if we can't hide the body and then I hope locate the true killer.

You can download it from the developers page along with teo other games here: The Murderer

wave Lawyer Friend,
You are on the beach, have you seen the cave?
Did you change the candle on the desk in the study? Look in your inventory. Something new has been added.

wave Hi Sweetie smile

OK - I don't think I even noticed the candle on the desk. On my way to check on that. I do hope that we get on the trail of the true bad guy. Such a sad beginning to a game. frown

Back...Well that opened up a lot of locations. Than you smile

I bought the paper, but when I wrap her in the paper, I can't find any place to put her and every time I get in the coach with her body, I get caught!
Have you had any better luck? Hint laugh

Well I took her to my friend and the results are - well she's easier to carry. You can get a key there if you go back - but now I am carry two hogs heads, a steak and our package.

I am not sure where this game is headed.

<img border="0" alt="woozy" title="" src="graemlins/woozy.gif" /> Package??? Did you get the paper back?
The "Package", I got back wasn't exactly wrapped in paper....
By hogsheads, do you mean barrels?
The key might be useful on the locked door of the manor house.
eek This is getting bloodier and bloodier!

No I haven't gone back. I was being discrete with the "package" turn of phrase. The two girls ran off, the ships captain won't help - no one wants the meat (not that I blame them)No one else wants to talk to me either and I have no money. I have the two animal heads, the steak and sausage - that's it.

How did you find Devlin?

mad Trouble...
I don't know how to contact the programmer, or even if it is their problem, but I got to Devlin, and then I am supposed to get away on the boat.
I go to the madame and give her a gold coin and she is supposed to give me the name and address of a girl who will help me with the Captain of the boat. I have done it several times, but when I look in the inventory, it is empty
I hope you have better luck. I can't get any farther without the name and address.

Snowmoon - Try to give the dog the steak and the old man takes it. Go back to the butcher shop - grab another steak. Give the sausages to the dog - and then the meat. Then you can get into Devlin.

I am stuck at the same place with the disappearing address. The captain won't take my gold and I have nothing in inventory after I give the bar girl the gold and she gives me the address. I don't get it. I have tried three times. frown

That's a night for me. I'll try again in the morning.

After you give the bargirl the gold and she gives you the address (you won't actually have an address in inventory), go slightly north of devlin's place and you should have a new red arrow....

I finished the game......... quite cute smile

BTW, how did you uninstall the game? I don't like just throwing out the folder, because I will be leaving stuff in Windows system files that I would rather not.

It was listed in my the Start/programs and it has an uninstall feature. I hadn't checked the folder - but then usually I leave it if it has saved games in it. I just checked and that's all that's there - so I'll probably leave it. smile

It does have the cross - but I think it's just to alert you not to click it unintentionally. It works and deletes the program. smile

There is an uninstall file within the program files. I just clicked on it and it removed the program and system files. (although it left the saved games, so I deleted them manually....)

bravo The uninstall works! This guy has a real sense of humor lol My son says it was a clean uninstall too, and left nothing behind.
I must admit I enjoyed this game very much, except for that little glitch at the end which had me frustrated eek That was probably done on purpose too.
However, I really wouldn't advise playing this game while snacking on bratwrust laugh

Hi Midge,

I "searched" the desk. Either when I right clicked on the candle or right when I clicked on search the desk The game notes the candle needs to be changed. Then I clicked on it and got the candle in inventory.

Hope this gets you going smile

Did anyone else bury the little girl in the cave near the beach, seems kind of grusome to take her to the butcher.I thought about that too as I figured if the author of the desided to have the murder victum be a child instead of an adult his mind would have that would be a place to hide the body

Leeana - the link is just to the download page itself. I hope you got it on your PC with no problem.

Midge - I saw you were at the give the girl the gold part. Did you get through to the ending?

This is one gruesome game. I wanted to leave her in the room - call the police - but the game doesn't allow that option. It was well designed however - but BRRRRRR. Definitely NOT a family game. eek

Midge - I know how you feel. You actually have the address but it's on the scene as a location so nada in inventory. Go to the seaport and scan carefullu north of where you went to find Devlin. There's a new arrow. It can be a bit of a pixel hunt to find the new arrow.

Exit the area where the little girl and her mother are. You will be looking at the garden. There is another arrow near the top of the garden - which will take you to another garden area. I would advise saving your game before you give anything you get away.

Hi,

I gave her a coin and Cromwell Estate showed up as another location I could visit. How did you use the newspaper on the body? I tried "spread" the newspaper on the body, but it wouldn't let me. I think the only other options were drop or read newspaper. Also after talking to the two girls (they were no help when asked about Devlin) they were gone when I went back there. Now I am really stuck.

That's interesting. That is something you can do differently in this game. I gave her a flower and then bought her a beer.

I am fairly sure I picked up the body so it was in inventory and then selected "spread" the newspaper and I wrapped the body up automatically.

No problem, Ladybug.

Slydos has a huge listing of freeware/shareware games listed through out her vast Adventure Archive. That got me started way back when. I found the listing for The Murderer posted at her site as well, so she deserves all the credit. I am but a messanger. smile

Hi Laura,

I finally found Devlin and I have a gold coin. The Captain won't let me on his ship, I can't go back to the estate without getting arrested and I can't get into Cornwell Estate. Where do I go from here? There is nobody left to talk to.

This is just a guess, but in the beginning, it states that Devlin was thinking of kidnapping the girl for ransom. Perhaps something terrible went wrong when he tried to grab her, and he had to "silence" her.

Hi Laura,

Right after I asked the question about the coin, I figured it out. Finished the game. It was short, but I enjoyed it. You mentioned Slydos had a website with freeware & shareware that could be downloaded, would you give us the address for that? It's fun to switch over to a shorter game sometimes when I'm stuck in a longer game. Helps revive the little grey cells.

Ladybug, if you pull up Slydos' home page , and click on the "download" link at the left of the page, you will find all of the freeware and shareware games to download, plus some other goodies.

And if you don't understand German, on the first page is a link to translate the page to English...

Have you gone to Microsoft or another place to get WINZIP?

Here's one download site:

WINZIP

I think that's why you are having difficulty with the download. I have W98SE on my PC too - and with the right utilities - I have little problem with downloadable games.

Laura
