s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/22/08 06:52 PM
HI, I'm replaying this game, and am having a problem that I didn't have the first time around. MaG mentions the same problem in her WT. I'm at #12 with the green door, have seen the torn screen and combined the hook and rope, but there is no hand icon. I posted this note in Glitches, Patches, etc. to no avail. What can I do to fix this?

It might be because you are not close enough. Go close and look up. Hunt for that active spot as shown by the picture.

Hi, MaG, I've tried approaching the door from every angle, and there is no hand icon. Too, Holmes doesn't say anything. I had a problem last time with another scene, but adjusted something and it was fine. Have no idea what I adjusted, but it worked. Is there a patch for this game?

Gillann,
Did you look at the building number, so he knows that's the right building?

Hi, I checked to make sure that it was #12, and it is-I've played the game before, and remember most of it. Thank you, MaG for the patch download info. I've downloaded it, but no results. I also uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, but no luck. I'll keep trying a bit longer. Thanks for the help.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/23/08 04:54 PM
gillann, just a thought: have you clicked on the warehouse door itself so that Holmes can comment that it is locked? I'm sure you have, but just in case.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/23/08 05:46 PM
Hi,Rushes, I've tried to click on the door, but again, there's no icon, and no comment from Holmes. Usually, there is diaglogue which leads into the puzzle to be solved. Very odd. Any ideas? I keep thinking I've missed something that leads up to this scenario, but have gone back to saves, and redone some of the scenes. There's definately something missing.

gillann, would you like to e-mail me your last saved game, and I'll take a look at it and see if I can figure out what's gone wrong?
I could also e-mail you a saved game from outside the warehouse, and you could pick up from there and see if that solves your problem.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/23/08 06:03 PM
Thank you, Rushes but I've gone back over the dialogues in inventory, and nowhere can I find mention of warehouse #12. I'm assuming the bartender is the one who mentions it, but it's not in inventory. Very odd. How do I trigger that conversation? All the barkeep does now is ask if Holmes has "found anything of importance". He's checked the table with the symbols, delivered the arm to the drunk, and taken the hook. The dialogue is exhausted at that point. I'd love to try and solve this without the Save, but if I get desperate, I'll call on you. Thanks, again, Gillann

No problem, gillann, just let me know if you change your mind.

I believe it's the smuggler who mentions warehouse #12, have you exhausted all dialogue with him/given him the medallion?

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/24/08 04:15 PM
Good Morning all, I''m in the temple room with the sacrificial altar and body. I've found the box, commented on the opiates, picked up the statue, made a copy of the message on the stele using the coal and ad,and checked all hot spots on the body. Holmes comments on leaving before the "local constabulary arrives". According to the WT there should be a cut scene of the poor man's demise, and then Holmes should be automatically back at Baker St. It's not happening. This occurred the 1st time I played, but can't remember what I did to get out of the temple. Any hints?

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/24/08 04:32 PM
gillann,
This room is picky:
All active spots have to be clicked on.
All items that can be picked up should be taken.
All items picked up should be examined in inventory.
All documents picked up should be read.
All the things in the altar should be examined.
It is just a meticulous, picky place. So best to go around again and click, read and take everything.

I have read MaG's WT, but still can't get the nos. to move into place.

Click hold, pull out the number to be at right side (out of tube) and insert it in another tube-row.
Remember that you can add consecutive numbers only to the tubes-rows closesr to the middle.
The outer tube-rows accepts only one number.
Good luck.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/29/08 02:23 PM
Hello, again. I'm in New Orleans and stuck trying to find Champagne's place. I'm in the yard with the dog, have entered the warehouse, and gone out the other side, but cannot find any saloon archway, etc. There's no where to go. Am I in the right place? The only walkway is blocked with a swinging bale.
Help!

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/29/08 02:46 PM
Before you look for him - be sure that the guard at the bank mentions about him - a Cajun that knows the ins-out here.
Then go through the warehouse, pass the dog, through the saloon archway.
The saloon archway is far in the back of cleared space.
If you are at the singing bale - then you made a wrong turn.
After you exit the first warehouse - continue forward - do not turn right or bo back to the warehouse that you exited. The swing bale is behind that first warehouse.

I'm chasing the thief and am in the China town yard. I removed the 2 boxes from the pulley platform which is supposed to rise-it doesn't. Now what to do? I remember when I played before, it was fairly easy, now I'm stuck.

Gillann,
Can you push the boxes in the opposite direction?

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/29/08 10:50 PM
Hi, I just re-read the WT, and it says to "climb the other end of the scale"?, and push the boxes off. I have no idea what that means. I pushed the boxes off the platform, that sits on the ground, and is attached to the pulley system. The platform looks as if it's floating, so it's hard to tell if it's on the ground, or floating above the ground. Don't know what the scale is.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/29/08 11:03 PM
Gillann,
Do you have a previous save you can go back too, to try pushing them in opposite direction? Can you send me your save and I'll install the game, to get a look at what's going on?
Posted By: Rushes
Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/29/08 11:13 PM
I think the "scale with boxes on it" is the same thing as the platform you're currently standing on, gillann. When I played this previously I don't recall having to do anything other than push the 2 boxes out of the way.
I also have saves for around this section - the file sizes are mammoth, though. If they're too large for you to e-mail to TLC, I don't mind loading up my game and seeing if I can replay the chase scene from the saves I have here.
Edit: I installed the game and replayed that part. After climbing the ramp and jumping down into the yard, the platform with the 2 boxes is more or less straight ahead of you. With the platform lengthways on to you, push each box in turn forward and off the far edge by simply walking into them (no clicking) - they will tumble off the platform. The platform then rises, with Holmes standing on it.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/30/08 03:03 PM
Thank you, Rushes. I went back and tried what you suggested, but no luck. The platform swings slightly, but doesn't lift. I'm going to go back to a Save, and see if I missed anything.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/30/08 03:15 PM
If I remember correctly, there are 2 of those platforms.
One closest to the sort of balcony you want to get up on and the other at center of the yard (counterweight).
The one you are in has boxes or crates that is why it is below the place you want to get to.
You move the boxes off the platform so that the weight is lesser than the counterweight at the middle of the yard.
To get those boxes off, move towards them as close as you can and that will push-nudge the boxes off.

on the replay.

Hi, MaG. I just went back to a previous Save, and breezed through. The boxes fell off, and the platform lifted. Very odd. That's happened before with this game. Something won't work, or progress until I go back and do it over. Anyway, I'm off and running once again.

Now, I'm stuck with the Star clock puzzle. I can't remember what you're supposed to do to have the safe revealed. I have the nos. for the combination from the WT, but what do you do with the diagram in Documents. Clicking on the nos. does nothing.
Thanks!

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/30/08 07:58 PM
The clock diagram is a clue to the safe only. You do not do anything to it.
To get the safe open: again,
click at and pick up all the active items inside and outside the manor.
Examine all the active items.
Read all documents taken.
The safe will automatically be seen by Watson when your done.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/31/08 07:52 PM
Picky, indeed! I'm down in the caves, and as I reacall the first time around, it's very difficult to see. According to the WT, I've picked up everything necessary, and have walked up the planks. Holmes remarks that there is something there, but can't tell what..The WT says to walk up the planks until he reamarks that there is definately something there. Then, you can proceed to hang the lantern, etc. Well, I've walked up the planks several times, and there is no action icon, and he says nothing. Where am I suppposed to look? I see a barrel, and something else, but can't tell what.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 05/31/08 08:09 PM
gillann, I've just gone into the game to take a look. Once you've climbed the planks and are looking up at the ledge, the hand cursor should appear directly at the bottom of the dark barrel (where it meets with the ledge).

Hello all.
I am having difficulty finishing up the altar scene. I have done what I am supposed to. I've tried multiple times checking the victim's left hand for the puncture mark and Holmes doesn't say anything.
I've check his neck, right hand, picked up the statuette and recreated the message. Am I missing something??
Thank you

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 06/01/08 05:40 PM
Hi NDfan1,
Holmes should definitely comment when you have successfully examined the finger of the left hand. Are you using the magnifying glass on the tip of the finger? Can you see the small puncture mark?
When you used the glass on the right hand, did Holmes comment regarding the dust?
Posted By: NDfan1
Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 06/01/08 05:59 PM
He did comment about the dust on the index finger on the right hand. Is there a particular order to which hand to look at first?? I did see the puncture mark with the magnifying glass and nothing happened.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 06/01/08 06:10 PM
It doesn't matter in which order you do things inside the temple. But this part is tricky, there are many things to do and it's easy to miss something.
I've just gone into the game and taken a look. It's the thumb of the left hand that has the puncture mark; holding the magnifying glass over the tip and left-clicking should prompt Holmes to comment. He will repeat this comment as many times as you click on the thumb.
Try this part again and see if it works for you this time.

Gillian, if there is not a gamma setting from the options or settings menu, then you would have to change the gamma setting on your monitor, or in some cases, you can change the setting on the video card.
Can you change the lighting conditions near the monitor or change the angle to help?

Hi,
I'm having trouble placing the gate/ladder underneath the barrel's ledge. The lantern has been moved to light it up, but I can't find the hand icon to see where to put the ladder. Any ideas?
Thanks Looney. I changed the gamma setting, and it really made a difference. I can acutally see, although I still don't know where to place the gate/ladder.

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 06/01/08 06:56 PM
It always helps to see

I think you have to fiddle around to find the exact spot for that ladder. Have fun!
Has Holmes told you "there is something there?" Have you hung the lantern yet?
Are you clicking the gate on the ledge where he can see something?
Posted By: gillann
Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 06/01/08 07:23 PM
Hi Looney, Yes I've hung the lantern, and moved it to shine on the barrels on the ledge. Holmes has remarked that there is something there, etc. I just can't seem to find the hotspot for the ladder. I'll keep trying. Patience is half the battle!, and I have little.
Gillann
Update: I placed the ladder and got the gun powder. The WT says to retrieve the lantern by lowering it, but doesn't say how to lower it. Help

Re: s Sherlock Holmes-Awakened - 06/01/08 08:15 PM
Hi gillann,
Remember where you dropped the skeleton to the ground - just to the right of the tunnel that leads off from there, there is a panel on the wall to which a rope is tied. You can lower the lantern by clicking on the panel.
