Haunting at Cliffhouse

I have the "hints" and do not understand what I am supposed to do with the "calendar" puzzle - I do not understand what I am supposed to do, decipher the Japanese symbols to determine which month I am looking at and pick the appropriate picture? or what. There are no 'hints' in the game or in this hints-as-a-substitute for a walkthrough and all I am getting is frustrated with this game. Can someone please explain what I am supposed to do? Thanks(and I cannot back out of this puzzle - what's the "trick" for going on to something else?)

Hi Betty,

Look at the square picture on the card and match that to the hint screen, then select the month that it matches. You can hit the tab key to bypass any puzzle.
