Favorite Adventure Game Characters

Some of our heroes and heroines are so larger-than-life that we get so fond of them. Do we even make them our idols? My latest favourite hero: Brian Basco (Runaway 2).

Another character that I like is Professor "Windlenut" Windlenot (He is a really tragic character in Shivers I). I can also think of one villain who is really cool. He is "the Nemesis" in Zork Nemesis.

I like Brian Basco also. I also liked almost every character in TLJ and Zoe in Dreamfall. But I think one of my favorites would have to be Joshua in Runaway 2. He cracks me up.

One that I can't forget is Mephisto of Seven Games of Soul. Not a hero but memorable.

Marita, I cant tell you how many times I started that game and never got passed the Gazebo over looking that lake or whatever.

There are so many great characters but I think my favourites are Gabriel Knight, Baron Von Glower :kiss: , the gardener in the Carol Reed mysteries :kiss: :kiss: :kiss: , George Stobart, Al Emmo, Assil in Ankh & Kate Walker!

My favorite game characters are Sushi from Runaway and Tony Tough.

Don't hit me Becky but I find Sushi very annoying.

My bad! I cant read. I thought it was adventure game character only. In that case Alice in American McGees Alice and the Cheshire Cat are my favorite of all.

Its always neat to hear everybody's choices.

My favorite game characters would have to include Atrus (Myst/Uru), Oscar (Syberia), Dungeon Master Dalboz (Zork:GI), "Wow! You flew back ten feet when you opened that box!" Sir Gil Blythe Geoffreys (Riddle of the Sphinx & Omega Stone), Manny (Grim Fandango), Cho (Riven), Wizard Trembyle (Return to Zork), George Stobbart (Broken Sword series), Lewton (Discworld Noir), Bosco from Sam & Max, the never- yet- seen Sonny Joon, Bess, & George from the Nancy Drew series, the neat old Parisian Lady from Broken Sword 1, and "want some rye? COURSE ya do!" Booz Miller from RTZ. Such determined hospitality cannot fail to warm the heart - and pickle the liver.

I'm going way outside the PC game box cause my favorite character is Spyro the Dragon. I just have a thing for purple, fire breathing beasts. haha

I like Guybrush Threepwood, Crow from Longest Journey,Rincewind,Simon the Sorcerer,Gabriel Knight and Gracie,George and Nicco,April Ryan,and Tex Murphey.

I liked Assil from Ankh too.

I'm with you there, Space Quest Fan on some of your choices! How could I have ever forgotten to mention Crow, Rincewind & April Ryan!!!

Rincewind, was he the one from Discworld? If so, I LOVED the Discworld games. They were great!

I would certainly have to agree with Kate Walker and Oscar as well as ROTC's,and Nancy Drew. Also liked Arianne from Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Rincewind from Discworld 1 and 2

I'm rather fond of Feeble and Atrus.

My all time favorite is Tex Murphy, so suave, so gallant and not bad looking either And Gabriel Knight was great too. Then there's the blacksmith from BD. I found myself needing a lot of weapons repaired

I think the blacksmith in Aura is not bad looking either. Too bad he doesn't have many intelligent lines.

Does anyone remember the old Dos game by SCI called "Kingdom of Magic"? There's a dim witted Conan the barbarian type character who has only a pair of skimpy underwear and boots for his costume and spends a large part of the game on a toilet bowl.

BD as in Beyond Divinity. He was in some town , I don't remember the name. I kept my teleporter right next to him

The Gribbler from The Longest Journey; demented and hilarious.
The coachman from Still Life was an intriguing, seedy character.

They're the ones that immediately spring to mind.

C'mon folks, you can't leave out dear little ARTHUR, from the Journeyman Project 3- Legacy of Time. Also in J-Man 2, Buried in Time.

I also have to fan my brow whenever Atrus speaks.

It's got to be Oscar. He was so endearing.

I noticed Rincewind, does anyone still have that little pewter statue of Rincewind that came with Discworld? I still have mine.

Definitely Gabe, Tex and Jim Pearson (Black Dahlia) and on the female side April, Kate, Zoe, Grace (Gabriel Knight games) and for pure laughs the Suffragette!!!(WE SHALL OVERCOME, WE SHALL OVERCOME). Now take a guess where she comes from?? Anoying beyond words but hilarious!!

I have to agree with Darleen- My favorite character is Nancy Drew. My second favorite is Delaware St. John. Can't wait for the new ones to come out!

Correction...its the Suffrajester from Discworld 2. Rincewind actually picked her up when she is tied to the stake and carried her around in Inventory by feeding her to his Inventory chest-with-legs.

Regarding Malcolm from Kyrandia 3... I remember that adventure games of that time had several villain characters with the same name. "Malcolm" was apparently the favourite name for villains then. They even engaged the actor Malcolm McDowell, famous for his villain roles, to play the villain in a popular space sim.

Right you are Benedict it is the Suffrajester. Who could ever forget that anoyingly hilarious voice singing WE SHALL OVERCOME though!!!!

The worst? The whiny professor everyone is trying to save in Timelapse (after you risk your neck in Atlantis and especially in the Mayan world, he's all "where werrrrrrrre youuuuu?")

The minor characters in Gabriel Knight 1, such as Mdm Cazanoux, the fortune teller lady in the town square, and the anonymous people on the phone were cool.

Some would consider it poor taste, but the saucy ladies in Leisure Suit Larry 7 were a blast. They were parodies of real life celebrities. It felt like meeting characters in a "Scary Movie" when I last played the game.
