It looks interesting, but I was put off by all the religious references. I'll wait for some reviews.

Undoubtedly the religious references are going to turn many people off, but man is that trailer killer. I'm agnostic, but considering most video games are atheist or agnostic in nature, I kinda like Christians getting a game that's "on their side" for a change. At least, this might be the first coolone lol

Wow! This is going to appeal to an entirely different group than traditional gamers! I guess I would expect a game about heaven to be based on religious content...since heaven is a religious concept, I suppose.

I am so happy this game is about to be released. I also have been waiting for a long time for it. Beyond gorgeous are the graphics. A site to behold. Ok here is the problem I can't pre order because I can't get past the slow bandwidth of the trailer. Does anyone have the direct link to pre order the game without going through the trailer? Ok after the slowest bandwidth I have encountered the trailer finally ended. I clicked on pre-order button but I have a question here it is to those who pre-ordered the game or who can check it out for me. The pre-order button takes me to a paypal page however the part I want to make sure I am on the actual pre-order page and not a phishing site is I noticed that there is no name of a credit card listed, like mastercard, or visa? All it does on the screen I contacted was start asking for my credit card number.

Can anyone please tell me if this is the screen you also reached and there was no question whether it is a Visa or Mastercard etc?
I am not going to pre-order until someone answers this question. I want to make sure this is the actual pre-order site. I am using Firefox and would have to endure a long wait on the trailer again if I switch browswers and try to test another browser. Thanks in advance to whoever answers this question.

I had never heard of this game until today....and I spent hours on that site, taking in every screenshot.

That game looks amazing.

My concern is that it's going to give me a headache. I mean, it WILL give me headache. 360 degree panning in those gorgeous graphics...that's a bit too much.

I only hope there's a little "dirt" in Heaven and that it only looks shiny and pretty on the eyes... otherwise it would annoy me that everything's so perfect :-)

Becky, that did the trick I was taken directly to the pre-order page. Thank you again I really want this game. I have to laugh at the comment someone made who said they hope there would be dirt in heaven other wise it would be too perfect. It wouldn't be Heaven if it wasn't perfect.

I am purchasing the game because the graphics alone are the most beautiful eye candy I have ever seen in a game. I put some of them on my desktop. Eye popping gorgeous!

I remember thinking the same thing about the worlds in Timelapse -- they'd feel more "comfortable" if there were a few scuff marks. Especially the Atlantis world, which actually reminds me a bit of the graphics in Heaven.

We've only seen a brief glimpse of the environments in Heaven -- maybe we'll see gorgeous tropical flowers growing in the dirt.

Sherryah -- Dave gets nearly all the adventure games that release on disk, so there's a good chance, though I don't know for sure, since this appears to be an Indie game.

I was just thinking, I hope this game allows non-Christians to "take it" as a grand mythology instead of distracting sermonizing. I think plenty of games have made mythology their central theme without bothering the mainstream. Asian mythologies come to mind, and of course Grecian and Roman.


As for making people nauseous, I know Half Life 2 had this problem. The reason was they used a 70 degree view. Later they added a 90 degree view which prevented motion sickness.

It'll be fun to finally get our hands on it and see what the game is like!

I'm hoping to pre-order the game in early August.

I cannot get any info re how this game is played. Is it keyboard driven or point/click? Does anyone know?

I prefer "clean" looking game places to all the grunge and decay I've seen in a lot of games lately. I don't enjoy visiting game locations that look like a dump any more than I enjoy visiting run down, beat up places in real life. I'd much rather visit somewhat idealized places, like Myst III: Exile and the first Aura game.

I really want this game but I think I'm going to wait a bit and see if Dave gets it.

Don't be alarmed if you get a notice saying shipment was cancelled. I got an email saying the game was shipped and ten minutes later another e-mail saying it was cancelled because postage was destroyed. That was about an hour ago. Sent e-mail to developer asking "what the?" Within ten minutes got a response,

"Sorry for the mishap. Your game is being mailed out on 9/1/09.
There was a misunderstanding in our postage dates."

Oldmariner, I checked on my Paypal account after the cancel notice and saw the two shipping notices so I could see they shipped/cancelled/shipped.

I looked at the site today to check the shipping date. They're shipping a couple of days early! That's unusual.

No, they shipped, cancelled and reshipped with a Sept 1st shipping date. They made a booboo with the first email and tracking #'s.

I got one notice with a tracking # saying it shipped. A half hour later I got a cancellation notice. I did not get another notice of shipping but when I went on Paypal (they used Paypal shipping) it shows a shipping notice for today (stating cancelled) and then another tracking # and shipping notice for September 1ST.

Same here Ana Only I sent them an e-mail before seeing the second confirmation notice in my pay pal. Within ten minutes the game site sent a response saying they had a glitch in there mailing and it will be mailed on the 1st. Nice to see they responded so quickly.

I did a search on EBGames and Amazon and found nothing.

VHLMagic -- so far, the only place (that I know of) to purchase the game is from their website.

The developers had stated that they will likely be making copies available to retailers after the release on their site alone first. It would help them if you purchase direct from them as they would not be splitting the profits with a retailer.

VHLMagic, I checked the site the other day and saw a price of $34.95 but I didn't see how much the shipping was because I didn't get that far and order it. It's a bit pricey for me right now, so I will wait for a review and see how that turns out.

As it was just timing, I'm probably one of the first few to pre-order the game. It was something like 3 a.m. on the opening day of taking pre-orders. Sooooo....being that I'm so far away in Canada how does one insure fast arrival? Does shouting at the mailman from my door step have any positive effect? Maybe I should have ordered more than one copy so they could tag team there way to me. What do you pros do?

Well, I don't think shouting at the mailman will work, though I have heard of people demanding to look in the back of the mailtruck to make sure the mailman hasn't made a mistake in not delivering the game...

You could try leaving a plate of cookies on the mailbox, along with a glass of milk.

I agree with the outfit she wears Ana, I have been using the wallpaper as a screen saver, the most vivid and beautiful graphics I have seen.

I also plan on handing this game out for gifts if it is as good as I hope.

It just arrived here in Stony Brook! Good old USPS Media Mail!

EDIT: Installed smoothly. Note: the manual that comes in the DVD case (well, more an insert than a manual) has a serial number that you have to enter to play after installtion.

I'm in the game for a few minutes -- I'm on a rocket ship in an asteroid field, and I'm accessing video and still images. Not sure what's going on. Going back in!

Hello all - Heaven has arrived at our house today! Now to try it out & see if it runs ok on my macbook pro!

(edit) - just installed Heaven on the Windows XP side of my mac. It installed OK, I was in a spaceship, and then what?
I mean I was waiting for the crash, but I kept riding and riding. So I clicked on the rear of the ship, couldn't back out of the closeup, press ESC, I'm back at my Windows desktop. So I tried again (again in the spaceship,) keep riding, riding, and clicked on one of the sides of my cabin (the monitor/video/images port) but again didn't know how to back out of this. Pressing ESC brings me back to the desktop (and likely exits me from the game btw). I checked the manual (actually a 3 page foldout) but there's no navigation/mouse cursor explainations on this foldout, only Bible verses.

Would appreciate some help here.

I actually have Irish roots - McCauley.

It's exciting to see so many people interested in this game. I guess the subject matter is interesting. 10 years ago, I had an experience that lead me to the making of this game. I'll have to write about it someday. Short story, I felt the Lord's calling to make a game about Heaven. At the time I had no money and no team. I just started doing it. The next thing I was having world class people working on the project. Believe me, making this game changed my life.
But remember, it is a video game. Some parts are great, some not as much. Each level has a very different look and compelling graphics. We went to a lot of lengths to make everything look super. I really attribute a lot of the games' look to Stephan Martiniere -the lead concept artist. He has real eye for these things. Also, Dylan Cole who really turned it into a workable game. And of course Peter Engelbrite a master programmer - he made the game engine do things I thought we never could. And of coarse the 3D team spear headed by Dave Liu - working over 4 years to get the graphics and animation right.

I, too, am very interested in your game and want to learn a bit more about it. I must say that the game's graphics and ray tracking models are absolutely beautiful, at least from the trailer.

On the other hand, I am unable to locate clips that show some of the actually gameplay footages (beyond the shuttle scene). Do you have samples of those on your site?

Can anyone tell me what the recommended system requirements are. I've seen the minimum requirements on their site.

If I purchase Heaven, I surely want it to run smoothly on my computer.

It seems to me that a game this visually stunning would require plenty of memory and a very good video card.

I have a question is this the minimum requirements for the game Heaven? Or is there also better graphics for those of us with the best video cards and high ram? I agree it is amazing that with that low of requirements that the graphics are beyond beautiful.

Becky, are you close to finishing the game? Is there hints in the game?

No, I'm still wandering around in the game with my jaw dropping. (Just got back from Boston in Real Life.) In Heaven I've created some bridges and I've opened up a couple of control stations and inscribed something on a red sphere. I've seen letters from the Hebrew alphabet and the names of the Apostles.

(Was Judas an Apostle? That doesn't seem right, somehow.)

So far, after exploring, the game has provided hints as to what to do -- more than I expected. It will probably get harder as I go in, though.

There is a menu where you can tweak the graphics settings somewhat. There's also an option at the opening screen to select a setting if you have a wide screen monitor -- much appreciated.

Nice to see you're making progress.
You are right, the clues start to drop off on the next level. Adding hints and clues is the hardest decision for a developer. The magic compass will help alot.
The first level is actually "multi puzzeled".
Meaning there are a couple of ways about doing things. The most important is raising those bridges. The sparkle poles tell you which bridge to open next. You even have to head back to paradise island to activate one.

If you need any "extra" hints, feel free to post about it, hopefully I'll answer.

The next "level" (kind of a mini level), is the Spinning Lenses. It will be impossible to solve unless you go back to paradise Island and find Axis on the floating Gazebo. Once you look through the spy glass, you'll have to click it 3 times to get close enough to see the clues. The fourth click brings you out of the spy glass mode. You'll probably need to write down the clues at this point. HINT: "think top to bottom".

Becky, FYI, Judas was the disciple who betrayed Christ...sold Him out for thirty pieces of silver. I am definitely going to look into getting this game!!

**note** For more enjoyment and exploration disable the overlays
no compass to tell you exactly where to go. Unfortunately I didn't know what an overlay was (not that game savvy.) and it greatly effected the gameplay.

I didn't try disabling the overlays yet. I assumed that meant a graphical tweak you could access if the game was running slowly. All it does is disable the compass function?

Lotus -- I knew that Judas was one of the twelve disciples, but I've never thought of him as an Apostle. According to Wikipedia, though, he is considered one.

EDIT: I experimented with disabling the overlays. I'm sure this feature is to allow the game to be played on older computers. The compass disappears -- but also the animated cursor is disabled, and many of the effects like lens flare and other lighting effects are removed. I think the reflections may also look different. The game is still good-looking, but doesn't, well, sparkle as much with the overlays disabled.

It seems after a month of intense discussion about this game (Heaven), all went quiet on the front (perhaps because of the lukewarm reception in the review).

The developer, Axis, also seems to have stopped posting here (and elsewhere as it appears).

I can't help but to wonder if the community was a bit too harsh judging the developer's admirable intention, despite what the final game turns out to be.

I will say that the graphics are beautiful.

Well, he put out a game. It wasn't well received for the most part. That can happen. Here it seemed that most were critiquing the game itself and not much more than that. I'm not sure how it might have been on other adventure communities because I just didn't pay that much attention.

There just wasn't enough actual "game" content for me.
More like an interactive movie with beautiful graphics, I felt
