I thought it interesting that they state:

Quote:
Puzzle-based adventure games perished in the late '90s when games moved to action-based shoot-em-ups.
The old "adventures are dead cliche"

and
Quote:
it's the premise of "Moebius," an adventure game designed for the iPad by Jane Jensen

I wonder why they failed to mention it's for PC?

I know, I pretty much have this reaction every time I read that - rolleyes Adventure games were never dead, just perhaps less prominent than they used to be.

I thought that was odd, too. Unfortunately, since I've been working a lot lately, I haven't had time to post on the Pinkerton Road forum. (I barely have enough time to post on this one anymore. lol ) However, I have been reading the posts, and I remember this came up before. From what I remember, there is going to be an iPad version, but it's still being developed primarily for the PC. I could be wrong about the specifics, but I know there is definitely going to be a PC version. Strange that the articles keep focusing on the iPad version, though. Is this a big thing in adventure gaming now?

I have been playing adventure games on my iPad ever since I discovered Myst and Riven were available. (I also have the PC versions which I played years ago.) Its just fun to have another option and I have several other adventure games lined up to play. However there seem to be more casual games for the iPad rather than full blown adventure games. I love 'em all.

For people who don't consider themselves "adventure gamers" (or even just "gamers") -- which is probably true of a lot of the Huffington Post's readers -- yeah, it's a big thing. Appealing to a wider audience of people who like to read books on devices like the iPad and Kindle Fire is a big part of how Pinkerton Road and other adventure game developers (Telltale, Daedalic, Revolution, etc.) are trying to get their adventure games out to bigger audiences.

Interesting, thanks for the info fov, and thanks for your personal take on it, SuMac. In that regard, I suppose it's a good thing the iPad version is getting attention. Hopefully, that leads to more sales for the game.

Personally, I still like playing my games with my wide screen monitor and Bose speakers. I'm spoiled in that regard, I suppose. lol But I can see the appeal of playing on an iPad if you're out somewhere, perhaps waiting for an appointment or something. Interesting to hear different takes on it. smile
