What I liked most about it was the extra quests and the added voice actors. With Witcher 3 coming in 2 days and this on the horizon, looks like I have a lot of gaming ahead.

Oldman, Do you know if it will it be downloaded from the Larian site?

I'm not sure. I was a kickstarter contributor and I got the original from GOG.com and the enhanced version is free to all who have the regular version. I'm pretty sure that it's available on Steam as well.

Edit: I stand corrected, upon checking I got mine from Steam. Upon checking the Larian forum they say that the enhanced edition will be automatically added to the libraries of any who already have the game on either Steam or GOG.

I checked on the Larian site and if you purchase the game through their site you are basically getting the Steam version.

Thanks, Oldman. Problem solved. I bought mine from GOG and they sent me an email this morning saying I can download the updated game on 10/27. I can't wait to see the changes.

I downloaded it and checked out the first dungeon just to get a feel of the enhanced game. It does have voice overs for all characters including the main ones. I didn't get much further than the first dungeon as I'm in the middle of Witcher 3 expansion. Once I have finished with my Witcher 3, I will tackle DDOS.

From the few minutes I've played of the game I think it will be very enjoyable.

I also got an email announcing the game and in that email was short list of the changes

Quote:
Full controller support for one and two players
Dynamic split-screen support for local co-op play
Sleek new UI for use with controller
Full AAA voice-overs for all characters
New sound effects and improvements made to existing effects
Main quest revamped to include more characters, more events, and more adventure
A new ending, with a reworked and expanded plot
Existing quests updated and polished Storyline background expanded
Companions now banter and argue with one another
Invest skill points in the new Dual Wielding ability to improve your proficiency
Hurl elemental, area of effect, status-setting, and damage-causing grenades. This comes with the new Bombardier ability, letting you spend skill points to improve your proficiency.
Wands are brand new one-handed ranged weapons dealing elemental damage. They come pre-charged with an additional powerful skill that the player can invoke 1-4 times, depending on his or her Wand skill level. The skill also determines your attack range with wands (from barely-out-of-melee to bow-level).
Explorer Mode. Formerly "Casual," Explorer players will face less-fierce enemies and enjoy a higher chance of knocking them dead, freeing up the player's time to discover, craft, sleuth, and travel outside of combat.
Classic Mode. Formerly "Normal". What we suggest for first-time players (who've played a classic cRPG before).
Tactician Mode. A brand new game setting featuring smarter, stronger enemies to challenge combat-oriented players.
Honour Mode. All the challenge of Tactician Mode, but in Honour Mode you only have a single save and a single life (no resurrecting!) at your disposal. If your character goes down, it's game over.
Tactician and Honour modes feature re-designed encounters and puzzles, including new mechanics, monsters, skills, and challenges. Enemy AI is more intelligent and designed to defend against past players' most commonly-used tactics.
New traps have been added, making tactics, puzzles, and simply moving around in the world more challenging than ever.
New skills and skill system
New tiered skill system ('Novice', 'Adept', 'Master') allows you to learn devastating new abilities as you progress in your chosen school of magic. 15+ new skills featuring custom animations and damage
Existing encounters have been improved and re-balanced to provide a more consistent experience throughout all zones.
Now includes upgraded AI to better counter the player’s tactics
Updated system makes crafting more intuitive
New creatures - Elemental Wards, Enchanted Armours, Bolt-stricken Zombie, Arcane Vortex, Nether Jester, Poison Slug, Spitfire Totem, Void Crystal, Oilskin ExploSkeleton, Soul of Desperation, Angry Chest
New cut scenes added and old cut scenes improved
Skills have been rebalanced and redistributed into skill schools in more cohesive themes.
Balancing changes have made mid- and late-game combat more dynamic and engaging.
Existing Abilities and Talents have been rebalanced.
Weapon ability progression has been updated to differentiate play styles based on weapon types (e.g. the 'Two-handed weapons' theme now focuses on slow weapons that do monstrous damage with each strike, while 'Dual Wielding' is centered around unleashing a hail of rapid blows on your enemies.)
Vendors offer more variety and sell better loot.
Magical items are built up differently. Items' use requirements have been revised.
Economy (gold value and rarity of all items) has been revised.
Treasure generation and traders have been overhauled to be less random and use a system that guarantees better variation in drops over time.
Weapons, armour, shields, potions, and statuses have been rebalanced.
Our top-secret formulas that calculate hit chances, crit chances, damage, armour, blocking, and more have all been carefully revised and improved.
'Saving throws' formula has been improved.
New items and item combos added for creating wands and grenades
360-degree camera, with improved art assets for viewing at all angles
Reworked visuals for improved performance
Textures were updated to improve performance DirectX 11 was added, which improves performance. Because of these changes, the game now only works on 64-bit Operating Systems.
New animations for new weapon types (wands and dual wielding)
New effects and animations for new skills, but also enhanced existing skills
New custom animations for all NPCs
New animations for new creatures and destructibles

Algorithms, I always find that aspect of RPG's fascinating. Taking a dice roll and turning it into a group of calculations to determine the final outcome. Makes me wonder who's rolling the dice in the background for me. grin

Sounds like they went back and really worked to make the game the best it could be, right down to the small details. That's dedication.

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/27/15 09:53 PM

I didn't buy the original and can't seem to find a site that's selling a PC version of "Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition" as a game in its own right.

I am confused lol

So does such a thing exist or do I have to buy the original and then get it "enhanced" somehow ??

Does anyone know how to remove a player from your party? headscratch

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/28/15 02:09 AM

Debra, just have one of the main characters talk to the one you want to dismiss. There will be an option to have them leave the party. wave

What kind of characters did you make?

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/28/15 08:45 PM

I made a Wizard and a Fighter. What about you?
I think I must be blind because I can't see where you choose the conversation option. I have left clicked and right clicked on the portraits, but it's a no-go. What am I missing?
Posted By: looney4labs

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/28/15 11:54 PM

I made a wizard and a cleric, though I probably should have made a knight or a fighter.

Click on the companion him/herself, not on the portraits and a conversation box should open. Make sure the one in "charge" at the moment is one of your 2 main toons.

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/29/15 12:06 AM

Thank you so much! As to the Cleric, at least you'll have lots of healing at your disposal. grin That's something I always need eek

Yea, that's why I chose him. This type of battle is new to me, so I'm still learning. luck

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/29/15 11:10 PM

Can anyone tell me if it's safe to drop all those keys I have accumulated and used? Are there any safe trunks or barrels you can use to store extra items that you don't know if they're essential yet?

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/30/15 01:02 AM

Debra it depends on how far into the game you are. If you have been to your homestead and visited a couple of times you should have bedrooms. There you have chests that you can store stuff in.
Posted By: looney4labs

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/30/15 02:14 AM

Homestead? I have stashed stuff in a basket in the bottom of the legion's headquarters. Each time I go check it is still there.

Where is the homestead? I am a very slow player...still in Cyseal...wave
Posted By: oldman

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/30/15 03:09 AM

Probably semantics. When you go to the end of time and meet zig zag is what I was calling the homestead. I believe the second time you visit you are given bed rooms but I may be wrong. I haven't progressed that far yet in the enhanced version.

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/30/15 03:31 PM

Ahh, thanks. I have been to End of time twice and no bedroom, so maybe it's the next time wave

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/30/15 09:41 PM

Thanks for the info on storage, Oldman and L4L. I have only been to the End of Time once. I cannot remember what triggers the second time. I am leveling up very slowly and combat is still tedious. I want to say, "Just go on over there and hit that monster and quit messing around". taz

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/30/15 10:40 PM

Me too Debra. I just did a fight where 2 of my guys stayed stunned....arrrrgh! I can't imagine doing this on hard. I obviously don't understand battle tactics. However, I do have fun poking my nose into everything lol
Posted By: oldman

Re: Divinity original sin enhanced edition - 10/31/15 12:06 PM

Now that I'm playing the game a little more I'm remembering some things. It appears that every character has a backpack and you can store your keys and equipment that you're waiting to level up to use etc. It's like carrying around a storage chest with you. That's where I just put all my keys.

I haven't had any crashes at all and just entered Luculla Forest. Are you playing the Steam or GOG version? My Steam version has been updated to 2.0.99.113.

Oldman, mine is the steam version too. I'll get to play again tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll not be crashing then. wave
