F drive

Hello, I have another question. I have C drive, E drive and F drive on my computer. I know what E drive is used for and C drive is operating system, right? What is F drive for? You can tell by this question how computer dumb I am, but I have to ask. Jenny100 set me up with two link to help with my first problem, but here I am again.

Could be Usb stick or ext.hard drive if you have one of those plugged in.

Windows does use drive "C" as your Operating System hdd (Hard Disk Drive) . Drive "F" , at least in my case , is used as expandable storage , such as a jump , or "thumb" drive .

On my Win7 machine ....

I have "C" as my hard drive.

"D" as a big second drive - mainly used for games.

And "F" for a large external drive.

You could just open Windows Explorer and see what is on drive F. If you have on Control Panel a System entry, you can look at Hardware/Device Manager to see the entries under "Disk Drives", "DVD/CD-ROM drives", and "Floppy disk drives".

Depending on where you are looking at your drives, there is usually a description with it. I have an SD photo card in the reader right now and it is listed as a drive; I also have an exterior HDD plugged in and that is also listed as a drive. It should also list how much drive space is available.

Mad, Glad you mentioned Drive D. I forgot I have that drive also where I install my games. When I look in File Explorer, the folder is empty. When you look at Properties, the drive is almost full. I do not know what is there.

I know you're in Windows 10 but is there something like in Windows 7 where you click the Start button and then a list comes up where you can click "Computer" and have it show all the different drives? I've got 5 lettered drives.

If you're installing games to your drive D , there should be files and folders there.
Note that with a large drive that's almost full of files and folders, Windows might lag before displaying them, and the drive might appear to be empty at first.

If the drive is very full and therefore very slow, it almost certainly should be defragmented. That will permit it to work faster.
