Hello Boomers, hope you are all well….it’s been a while. I have some news to share with you. A couple of months after my hubby’s funeral last year I was diagnosed with cancer after a CT scan and an MRI. Doctor told me my cancer is stage 3 and inoperable due to its proximity to other organs and due to my medical history and current health issues they are unable to offer me chemotherapy. I can’t have radiotherapy to treat the tumour but can have it to treat the symptoms eg pain (palliative care).
Being told the diagnosis and limited treatment options so soon after losing hubby sent me to a dark place for a time but I have to accept that it’s happened and can’t be changed. As always, my amazing kids have got my back.

Mary, I am very sorry to hear about this, but glad to hear that you are coping with the situation at least a little better after recovering from the initial heavy blow of such news: definitely serenity prayer time! Sending you good vibes and hoping you still have an opportunity for some good times

Hello Boomers, thank you all so much for your kind words, thoughts and prayers and for the warm hugs too. I had another consultation with my oncologist. I asked her what would happen in the future with regard to my cancer. Unfortunately nothing can be done to halt its progression or spread, it is incurable. I will be on palliative care which will entail short bursts of radiation to manage pain and bleeding should it recur.
When I had my amputations carried out, I knew they were being done to halt the progression of gangrene and to stop the horrendous pain I was in, light at the end of the tunnel. Well today I’m not seeing that light yet and I wonder if I ever will. I’m trying with all I have to stay positive but I must admit it’s hard. Not having my love and soulmate here with me makes it even harder. I miss him so much.
Sorry for letting go like this and thank you all for ‘listening’.

Mary, my brother in law had both his legs amputated because of the excruciating pain and to stop gangrene. So while I haven't experienced it, I know someone close who has and how much you are enduring.

I think about you every day and hope you can find some peace. Perhaps the light at the end of the tunnel is seeing your love again. You MAKE SURE you come here and "let go" as often as you need to. We are all her to lend a virtual shoulder to lean on.
