I've had this game for a while now and just kind of had it sitting on the back burner. Since it's been getting better reviews lately and I needed something that would work on my Steam Deck, I loaded it up, not really sure what to expect.
It's actually loads of fun. It's not an RPG with a story line that draws you in immediately, although there is a central mystery. I'm not even sure that I'm some kind of chosen one. I might just be a random traveller in a big universe.
It's more one of those games that feeds a kind of obsessiveness; exploring, finding things, learning new languages, meeting aliens, building a home, and ultimately following a strange signal out into space.
It does space travel and planetary travel very well, much better than Starfield did. I'm having so much fun just tooling around out there that I keep forgetting that are, in fact, quest lines to follow. The planets are procedurally generated, but they are distinctively different from one another, enough so that I'm not bored.
Quite enjoyable.
