At the end of this month, Microsoft is releasing a free upgrade for Windows 10. So who's going to be the guinea pig and see how many games won't run on it? I'm hoping it will not cause any problems for any recently released games that work on Windows 8, but who knows!

OK, so now I've tried out the games that were on my laptop. I now have Windows 10 Home on it. I should say that I can't really be sure that the few problems I hade was due to the new Windows, since some of the games was a really long time since I've played. But these are the games that worked just fine:
The Sims 4 All of the Carol Reed games Zumas revenge (Origin) Theme hospital (Origin) Sim City 2000 special edition (Origin) Ultima 8 gold edition (Origin) Syndicate (Origin) Crime line Criminal minds CSI NY Cute Knight Deluxe Cute Knight Kingdom Escape, special bundle edition Fairway solitaire collectors edition Fashion solitaire Jewel Quest mysteries bundle Jewel Quest solitaire Jojo's fashion show wolrd tour Mytery P.I series Odium (aka Gorky 17) Papers please Puzzler World 2013 The Stanley Parable Plague Inc evolved (Steam)
There were only Three games I had problems with, but like I said, not sure exactly why.
Airline tycoon evolution is not smooth when there's a lot going on on the screen. Righteous Kill 1 & 2 and Shutter Island is really not smooth regarding the pointer.
I still have a few games on my other computer to test, but I haven't got Windows 10 on it yes, so I'll get back to you on that.

From http://www.cnet.com/news/which-edition-of-windows-10-will-you-get-for-free/Those of you running Windows 8.1 (the standard edition) will receive Windows 10 Home. And those of you running Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 8.1 Pro for Students will receive Windows 10 Pro.

Perhaps I should've said that but as it is written above me, if you have pro, you will get pro. I had 8.1 standard or home or whatever it was called. =)

This is really sounding promising, RebKean. I was mostly wondering about games that were already installed. I still have all my "test" games from my Windows 8 and Gaming thread installed. I also want to see how some of the older games actually install and if there are any hitches in the installation process.
I'm still waiting for my download to appear!

With the blessing of MaG and the admins and moderators here, I am going to go ahead and start a Windows 10 and Gaming thread to be stickied at the top of this forum. One thing that I would like to have from you is computer specs for both your laptop and desktop.

Check out the Windows 8 and Gaming thread at the top of the Glitches forum. Basically, your complete computer specs. I always want to be sure everyone understands how different computer configurations may affect gaming. Sometimes the new platforms are blamed for inadequate computer specs, especially the video card - or sometimes the lack thereof!

Got it!
As I told RebKean, my internet access has slowed to a crawl while repairs are made and who knows when I will have enough bandwidth to even download Windows 10, let alone do a decent post. I'm lucky to get in enough to do this one!

Just read this some issues with win 10
...However, there are inevitable side effects such as a recent problem with NVidia graphics drivers where a number of systems stopped working properly because of a bug in the software. Users have been reporting problems trying to get Bluetooth and Wi-Fi working correctly.
I have Nvidia and certainly will keep searching on this issue...
and on the Surface Pro 3 Video issues....
Edit.. looks as if they have addressed the Surface Pro 3 video issues:
The one common change across all of the devices affected is an update to the tablets' integrated Intel HD graphics processing unit that should improve graphics performance and stability on Microsoft's new operating system.

I'm working on a Windows 8 and Gaming post as we speak! RebKean has already posted a short list of games that work on page one of this thread.

I'm working on a Windows 8 and Gaming post as we speak! RebKean has already posted a short list of games that work on page one of this thread. I guess you mean a "Windows 10 and Games" thread. We should probably differentiate by whether the games are on CD or not. For example, a downloaded Big Fish game might not work currently, but might receive an update in the future that makes it work. It's less likely to see a "patch" for a CD version of a casual game. Date of testing might be useful too, since other download sites might eventually offer patched versions. I'm unsure how the current problem with Windows 10 drivers for video cards will affect test results. What works with one video card may not work with another, even though the game worked with both cards in Windows 8 and earlier. So it would be useful to know the video card used for the test along with the test results and date of test. Nvidia and AMD might update drivers on their latest video card models to work with Windows 10, but not bother with older model cards.

Yes, I did mean that - I was in a rush this morning.
In addition to specifying whether they are on a disk or not, we need to specify if they were previously installed on Window 8.1 before the upgrade.
I am going to assume all games from GOG that state they will work with Window 10 are OK. That's going to be a case-by-case basis. It's installation from disks that I will be concentrating on. RebKean's list of previously installed games that continued to work is encouraging.
I'm buried in tomatoes right now, but as soon as I can see some daylight, I'll let you know Jenny so you can sticky it.
