For those of you who might need instructions for cryptic crossword clues, check out this page . These have all been created by a variety of well-known constructors. There may be one or two that we might question, but they're still fun. Please explain all answers. -1. Old "Mr.," perhaps! (5) -2. Tea's spilled right on the map (4) -3. Cook ices valet - that's the way it goes (4,2,3) -4. Tried swaying voters (6) -5. Devilish inside! (4) -6. Author finally writes copy, meeting deadline's closing (6) -7. One living in sin flips for tearjerker? (5) -8. Core of scented pillow is pine (4) -9. Went around announcing rain (4) -10. Acrylic fabric kept in color longer (5) -11. Ring presented during short date (5) -12. Detect some change in speech (5)
The moon is actually more useful than the sun since the moon gives us light at night when it's dark. The sun only gives us light during the day when it's already bright out.

6. scribe finally writes = s copy = crib deadline's closing = e
The best math you can learn is how to calculate the future cost of current decisions.

NICE solve, CCB!
9. Went around announcing rain (4) wild guess: went around = missed, sounds like mist (rain) ?
11. Ring presented during short date (5) cOurt = date; O = ring, curt = short (during = indicator)

Hi Denis, Yes these are &Lits because in each case the entire clue serves both as direct and as word play.
1. Direct: An old-fashioned form of "Mr." could be M'lord. Word play: perhaps is indicator to anagram Old Mr.
5. Direct: Someone who is devilish inside is evil. Word play: inside is indicator to find the answer inside the word Devilish.
Bob As I've grown older, I've found that my memory is not as good as I used to think it was.
