The Quarry ?

SCP Pandemic?

Seems like we are missing some good adventure reviews.

Love you folks but a pixilated title like Hobs Barrow.....!!!!!. Might be a good story but I gave up my Atari 800 years ago.

Please no flames. I'm 67 and been gaming since adventure, colossal cave, and zork...all in text. Some played on a DEC 10 TTY. Loved Kings Quest, Perils of Rosella, etc..but not so much any more except for nostalgia. I do like some of the FMV titles like Phantasmagoria, Tex Murphy, etc), Zork 1,2and 3.

Best to all of you and have a great Halloween.

Hi, ChuckO, hope all is well with you.

We have exactly one game reviewer at this time and he does a great job, but just like everyone else he has other commitments and time restraints - and is entitled to his leisure time as well. It would be an impossibility to cover most of the new adventures that are released now. Ana announces new games every day and I can scarcely keep track of them all.

Some people don't like pixelated titles. For myself, pixelated titles like Hob's Barrow and the Blackwell series are some of the best adventure games I have played in the last decade, so to each his own. I have played sub-par games with great graphics and terrific games with great graphics, as well as good and bad text adventures. It's nice that we all have so many choices!

Also, I am curious - was anyone able to answer your question here? Were you able to figure out what game you were remembering?

I hadn't bothered to look them up, but I just did so and agree with you, oldbroad. Arguably games with adventure elements, but not full-on adventure games at all.

Chuck, not much to add that Marian didn't cover. This is an all volunteer site and I'm super proud of everyone keeping this place up and running.

flotsam does a great job handling the reviews he writes, and while some games are provided from the developers/publishers others he has purchased himself. I appreciate him greatly!

It's impossible to please everyone, but we can show appreciation for what we have.

Ana

Hey, ChuckO! Another "old a** gamer" here too! Except I'm older than you by quite a few years. Like Marian said we only have one - very busy - person who has volunteered to do reviews here. I do the HTML editing for publication and I am always SO amazed at what a great job flotsam does. It takes a lot of time to play a game thoughtfully enough to be able to then write a review. We are very lucky to have him as a review writer. At the other gaming website where I am an administrator, we don't have anyone writing reviews! So flotsam is a real treasure here for Gameboomers!

I'm not a huge fan of pixelated art in games either, but I may have to make an exception for this one. Wadget Eye Games has been around for awhile and their games never disappoint!

Well I am older than everyone who has contributed to this thread so far and therefore feel I can also have my say !! lol

Although obviously there might be an element of nostalgia in playing games with "older looking" graphics, that isn't MY reason for playing them.
If they have an excellent story and decent controls I don't really care whether the graphics look old or not.
And some of the games from 15 - 20 years ago or more are universally acknowledged as being superior to many games released since.

As for "getting flamed" ??
There's none of that nonsense at this site. Neither BrownEyedTigre or any of the other Mods here would allow it.
This is a very tight run ship - and hurrah for that !! dance dance dance

Mad, as reigning matriarch, you can ALWAYS have your say! And mostly because it's always a positive contribution!

Getting Flamed is fine...as long as it's not the full crematorium version ;-)

Oh, I know I'm not the oldest in the Gameboomer Community. I was just the oldest who had joined in the thread up to that point !! ๐Ÿคก

Cheers.
