My latest CDM clue is actually one of a connected group in a recent puzzle, so here is the whole set just to tease the gray matter and as usual I am giving you all first and last letters (but in alphabetical order) to help you along: 1. ____ 2, 3 (4, 5), 6 (7,8), 9 3, 10, and possibly 11 12 for 13 14 15 (4) - best2. Imagine not opening cut-price stew (7) - picture3. Schedule put back accommodates Charlie as performer (5) - actor4. Male member's sports car (6) 5. Men fear bothering city privilege-holder (7) - freeman6. Bishop's occasional interlocutor car sets off (7) - actress7. Judge cases I prepared for Shylock's daughter (7) - jessica8. 80s computer pliant and yielding to some extent (5) - tandy9. For wearing outside: uniform with plastic front (10) 10. Story Presley can ruin (10) - screenplay11. Cosmetic ultimatum as car appears trapped (7) - mascara12. Wilde, Peterson and Hammerstein showing no lasting damage (6) - oscars13. Pushing director finally into into Olympic sport (7) - driving14. Fail to see Mars's first satellite (4) - miss15. Tandem rider in song lives through 24 hours (5) - daisy16. ... and the whole thing is? - Best picture, actor (Morgan Freeman), actress (Jessica Tandy), supporting actor, screenplay and makeup Oscars for Driving Miss Daisy(This was quite complicated to assemble, so apologies in advance for any errors...!)

 Them's the answers, and that just leaves a little reinterpretation of 1 (by reference to 11) to provide the answer to 16
