In general I prefer written walkthroughs, but there are times when having a visual is helpful, and that is when I choose to look at a video walkthrough instead. Not all video YouTubers rush through things either (although some do) - you just need to find the right people.

I agree with preferring a written walkthrough. You can always pause the video to take a closer look at something. Some of them allow you to drag the progress bar back and forth too.

I too do not like these video walkthroughs where they are rushing through it, WHY! They are terrible walks. I have noticed the same speed runs in some of the game broadcasts on Steam. Here they are trying to show the game off and in my opinion fail to do so

I can't remember the last time I used a written walkthrough. I use the video walkthroughs but you do have to find the right one. I also don't care for commentaries although they can be beneficial sometimes adding to the description of the game maybe even the mechanics of it, it all depends on the individual doing the video

Remember back in the day when we had these game walkthrough books. They were the best! They not only had the walkthrough but covered other aspects of the game from maps, tips and tricks, strategies, cheats and more. They were really cool. I miss those

You can set playback speed for a YouTube video, to quarter, half, or three-quarter speed.

I was cleaning out and going through my computer gaming stuff the other day and discovered that I have 35 of those game walkthrough books, most of them purchased in the 1990s. I did not remember that I had so many of them. They are wonderful!

Didn't you have to pay for those walkthrough books back then?

And, yes, I always adjust the youtube walkthrough speed if I need to, then pause it if needed...

Oh, yes. But the ones I have included far more than walkthroughs (and some of them were for RPGs).

There were a few of these hint books that were cellophaned together with the game. I know I have a couple games that are still wrapped, game and hint book together. I have about 20 books myself Marian. I would buy hint books today if they were available for games I'm interested in. There is this one game I took interest in and if I ever decide to get I will get it's Strategy Guide - Starfield

Other games like Hogwarts Legacy and Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora have strategy books out. Where are the Adventure guides????
